#26 Cleaning the Chicken Tractor, The last of the Planting, Sorting out Designer Orders
I've been meaning to clean out the chicken tractor for a while now. I finally took some time to quick do that this week and I'm hoping that will help keep the eggs a little cleaner. I also finally got around to planting perennials that really needed to get out of their trays. But most of the week on my flower farm was spent harvesting blooms for orders and market. It was a good week for sales and I'm really hoping we can continue that trend to make up for the lack of flowers and sales in August.
Thanks again for hanging out with me. See you next week!

#25 Bigger Chicken Area, Planting Fall Cover Crops, Fall is Here
มุมมอง 1.2Kวันที่ผ่านมา
I feel like the last two growing seasons have been very affected by cut worms. I really don't want to have to deal with them again next spring so I'm trying to do everything I can to decrease their population on my flower farm. By buying and setting up another portable chicken fence, the chickens will be able to cover a lot more ground plus I feel like it will be a lot easier to move the tracto...
#24 A Garden Tour of My Flower Farm
มุมมอง 82914 วันที่ผ่านมา
For the second year now on my flower farm the growing season is not turning out how I had planned. And as I said on video one, one of my motivations for posting a weekly vlog was to have a record of what happened during my growing season. So I thought since summer is wrapping up that this would be a good time to go on a little garden tour around my flower field. Thanks for coming along with me!...
#23 Market Prep, Making Bouquets, Sisters on the Farm

This week sure felt like fall on my flower farm. I had to dig out my coat at the beginning of the week because it was so cool outside. But the weather was peaceful and sunny and it was enjoyable week to weed, get the last of the sunflowers planted, and prepare for another farmers market. It's always nice to have my daughters home during the summer and able to help with the stamping, jar washing...
#22 Irrigation, Canadian Flowers Week, Floral Frame Build
มุมมอง 1Kหลายเดือนก่อน
This week we're celebrating Canadian Flowers Week. It's a week that aims to raise awareness of Canadian grown blooms and where we are encouraged to build some kind of floral installation in our communities that uses the flowers we grow. I don't have a ton of experience putting these kind of things together so I called on a designer friend, Emily, from Threads and Blooms ( threadsa...
#21 Sunflower Planting, Sunflower Seeding, Sunflower Row Cleanup
มุมมอง 824หลายเดือนก่อน
It's hard to adjust to the fact that I need to stop planting flowers and instead spend more time planning and preparing for next year's growing season. Time has gone so fast here on the flower farm and even though it still in some ways feels like the beginning of the season, here I am seeding my last batch of sunflowers for the year. Now is also the time to get some of the finished rows mowed d...
#20 Compost Tea, White Flower Order, New Weeding Tool
มุมมอง 711หลายเดือนก่อน
Phew, this was a hot week. We are in the middle of summer right now on my flower farm and it sure felt like it this week. I took things a bit slower in the heat and spent most of my week weeding in between harvesting flowers and pounding stakes. I also made my first batch of compost tea which I think turned out pretty good. I had enough to spray it on all my dahlias and all my lisianthus plants...
#19 Dahlia Weeding, Chickens Escape, New Parking Spot, Big Storm
มุมมอง 1.2Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Another week complete on my flower farm and another week where a storm rolled over us. This one came with a lot of wind but less rain than past weeks. It was a good reminder to get going on getting those dahlias staked up. The rest of the week was spent weeding and going to another farmers market where again the weather was beautiful. I've really enjoyed the slightly slower pace of this month. ...

There was so much rain in Ontario this week again. I'm thankful that the bulk of so many of the storms skimmed by us. So even though we got a lot of rain again on my flower farm, I'm only seeing damage in the dahlia patch with a few rotting plants. When it was not raining I spent the time weeding, planting, and harvesting and then hustled into the barn to clean up my workspace during the storms...

It's ending up looking like this might be the second summer in the row where we do not need to irrigate here at my flower farm. Last year we experienced an excessive amount of rain. This year it is raining quite consistently every week but I find the amounts to be just what I need. So with another two inches of rain this week, everything is looking good and happy. July feels like it's the month to catch up on the farm and also take a breather between the business of spring planting/peony season and the beginning of the larger August and September flower harvests. It was all about the weeds this week on my flower farm! I'm used to planting my lisianthus into landscape fabric so with not doing that this year I'm finding it a challenge keeping up with the weeding. At 13:25 even your chickens follow you everywhere, Ms. Jen, not only Walter and Oscar 😎. (Haha, so cute.) I can imagine that one of the many reasons why your designers stick with you is because you really put a lot of time, love, energy and effort into the wonderful work you do 💚. (And you can simply see and feel it.) Also, you don't let it get you down when sometimes things don't go the way you expected or a year doesn't turn out the way you hoped. You always try new ways or look for alternatives so that things might work out better next time 🌟. Keep up the good work, Ms. Jen. Enjoy your Sunday with your family and have a great start to the week tomorrow. Greetings to Bob and your kids. 🐾🐕🐔

It is always a pleasure to watch you, thank you very much for your efforts. 🧿 Teacher Bob mentioned the motorcycle event held on Friday the 13th. It was good to see some motorcyclists returning in your video. I will take a look to learn a little about the story of this event. 🦉 Have a great Sunday and please say hi to your precious family for me. I love you all! Bye 👋😊🌹💐♥️

I've to admit that I like the season of fall, Ms. Jen. Not the rainy, dull and grey part of that season, but the sunny, slightly cool part of it. I love seeing all the colour variations of the leaves on the trees and the slight golden glow that the sun gives everything on some days 🌤. It's one of my favourite seasons, along with winter, but if I had to choose between the two, I'd go a little bit more with fall. I also have to admit that since you started here on YT, I've secretly been waiting for this time of year. Or let's say the last months of the year because I was hoping (and really looking forward to) seeing your lovely pumpkin centerpieces and how you make them. Plus, as it gets closer to December/Christmas, your beautiful wreaths. Thanks for the great new video Ms. Jen. I wish you and your family a wonderful Sunday. Best wishes to Bob and the kids. 🍂🏡🍁 P.S. Thank you for 01:32, what a beautiful recording of the river. I'm sure it must be a great experience to see it live. 🤎

Hi Jen how did the weed mat work for terminating cover crops or weedy rows? Not sure what to call it in Canadian. It's what you use in your paths as well 😊

    • @myflowerfarm
      @myflowerfarm 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

I use landscape fabric and silage tarp. I think the silage tarp kills things quicker but is more susceptible to ripping and holes. The landscape fabric works as well, just takes a tad longer and yes, that is what I use for my paths as well.
