@@Otispine Oh yea I also wanted to mention that I believe you will enjoy the Erie canal trail. We did it at least ten years ago, maybe longer. We live in Middlebury Vt. if you get up this way. Really found the section west of Rochester to be the absolute cat's meow! Specially riding into Lockport. Seeing the five locks in a row like flowing stairway is wonderful. When we went you could camp at the Locks and we were able to use the showers of the lock keepers.

Very informative introduction to the East Coast Greenway Trail and information about the Timberline Adventures. In particular and exciting is the description of some of the beautiful trails in the North Carolina near Duke. This trail or at least portions will be on my bucket list to challenge in the near future! Thanks to the Jim Dodson Team
Wonderful video. I'm thinking of doing the east coast greenway but I can only manage 20 miles per day right now. What mileage do you think I should work up to in order to do this?
Miguel, Thanks for the comment. When we plan our bike rides we always try to keep our days around 50 miles. We find this is very doable even if we aren't up for it on any particular day. Weather is a big factor so plan accordingly. Good luck and safe travels!
Am doing this but I wanna camp along east coast greenway am coming from Florida, hoping there's spots where I can camp, first time doing something like this and am going solo 🙄
Do you remember if there were definite road sections you wouldn't ride again? I'm looking at the route...looking for real feedback if there's any unsafe roads...I know though, ride 'em once...it's the motorists who define our bicycle safety.
The last day from Washington to New Bern we had a stretch of road that was not too good (not sure where that was exactly). Heavy traffic and no bike lane. We kept having to jump off as cars came. I was OK with it but it freaked my wife out a bit. We were supposed to ride for a few more days but cut the trip short because it looked like more not so friendly roads ahead
It seems as if there are some good roads for bicycling and some not so good roads. I did a little research on the ECG route, it is only about 30% complete? Are the busy roads sections in your video where you are going from one trail to another? Cheers and thanks for sharing ;<)

Well, we only have one other from Philly to N.C.. It was a great trip so if u are doing the same you will enjoy it. We hope to do the Erie canal this June. Thanks for the comments.

Our short time travelling through NJ was great. ECG was well marked. We planned on continuing south to Florida but have decided to ride the Erie canal trail instead. Will be doing that in June 2021 if all goes well. Thank you for your comment
Really gives a feeling of the experience, thanks! Any advice about being forewarned of, and avoiding the sections that are less safe due to traffic? (Besides tried and true zooming in on google maps the whole way)
John, thanks for the comment. No advice really. There were some really nice trails and some not so friendly roads. We actually were scheduled to ride a couple more days to Wilmington, NC but day 15 of our ride from Washington, NC to New Bern we were on a highway with no bike lane that kinda freaked us out (heavy fast traffic). Other than that it was all good. If you are using a Garmin device and want the routes I can send them to you to load.
We used East Coast Greenway Maps which you can find their mapping tool online. We then planned our course through map my ride and downloaded to our Garmin
