Greetings Michael...Maybe some listeners are interested to know when and where the above performance took place. It was the 68th performance ( of in total 143) which took place at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC on the 21st of February 1958. SMR performed the Concertino da Camera in France, Switzerland, Spain, Great Britain, Czeckoslovakia, Poland, Norway, Sweden, Australia, USA, Cuba, Canada, Hungary, Germany, the Netherlands, and Denmark. (over a range of time from 1935 to 1973)

So good to see this posted. I have a copy of the complete quartet concert that SMR gave to me years ago to copy for preservation. My notes indicate this is from 1977 and may be the premiere. In the concert, SMR recited all the poems in the very beginning, and also added a few other comments that were appropriately not included in this video. This is simply wonderful quartet playing and can be a model for all quartets in ensemble playing at a professional and artistic level. Also on the concert were works of Borel, Gates (Declamation and Dance), and Lamb.
