I think the next generation of ifc should be based on the database and not the file. like the imodel concept that was developed by Bentley and is based on the sqlite database. It is used as the core of data storage and changes in a physical assets and digital twins, and it can be a good idea for those involved in the development of ifc 5+.

13:35 Why would you drop Rendering from the development of IFC 5? How do native IFC softwares (eg. BlenderBIM now Bonsai) deal with the implementation of rendering capabilities with IFC? Unless I didn’t understand, can you explain this?

BuildingSMART is a wonderful concept with many great innovative ways of working in construction, yet they continue use the most boring and inarticulate people to present their products. No flair and certainly no method of training education. I doubt if any of their presenters have designed or managed a major architectural project.

Does IFC support fabrication details? For example if I am making a timber frame with certain joinery, and certain grooves in the beams for MEP services, and a certain type of connector for the column to the concrete. How can I go from IFC to CNC-BTL format ? Thank you. I am learning a lot from your videos.

Open drop-down lists (with all available elements to be chosen of) carry a danger that owners might require more than necessary for the particular project milestone or a specific actor. It can't prevent information overproduction, which is pure waste. I think that we need properties' defined scopes for each delivery milestone, otherwise the LOD/LOG/LOI chaos, supposed to be regulated by LOIN, will carry on. BTW (from 40:00 on) - a terrible project...
