Thank you @hockeystickman! These sticks are fantastic! I can't wait to get them on the ice. Super super light, and I absolutely love the blacked out look. I've been using their pro blackout extra light player stick for almost 2 years now, and it's the most durable and lightest stick I've ever had. If you're looking for the right mix of affordability, high quality construction, durability, and w...

The holiday classic I didn't know I needed.
The holiday classic nobody asked for and nobody needed 😅😅
Had a really rough game last night. Rebound control is a huge issue for me. I usually make the first save but then I lose my composure and feel like I’m falling back on my heels when I’m in butterfly, to where I can’t find my edges and just end up being really late. And my hands are a mess. I holster them when I make saves. Great video. I don’t have anyone to drill this kinda stuff with but watching this footage is really helpful.
What do you think the average size for a goalie 4’7” or 4’8” would be?
Can you PM me please
Just ordered, only thing that would be nice is a drawing of a goalie in net so you can mark were the goals are going in and where the saves are. Personally think that and marking were the shot came from on the ice go hand in hand.
Sick sticks
Great evaluation and additional of the 'how' which a lot of others miss. We'll done and thanks.
I am glad it was helpful!
I am 5'5 and used to use a 24 size paddle. I recently went down to a Size 22 paddle and not only is my stick lighter, I have more control of my stick and my stance is more balanced between Glove vs Blocker + Stick
Exactly! Great analysis!
Seriously ? 24 year old video
Crazy huh?
You know he’s a good goalie if he his pads aren’t white anymore
Exactly!
You not goalkeeper you Are badkeeper
What's wrong with you?
That is sick 🔥
Oh yeah!
This is why you hire a photographer. Just sayin.
Knowledgeable words brother may Jesus bless you, you have great potential through Him❤️🔥❤️✝️
Thenso nervous about first shots
Beer league goalie same ? I have trouble on ice ice pregame warmup - players most are idiots on shots- comments ?
Beer league is tough to warm up on the ice for, shots are going everywhere. When I play men's league, I try to do my visualization, hand eye and stretching off the ice as much as possible. If I do take warm up shots, I maintain my stance the whole time and just focus on tracking the puck into my body.
Promo sm ❤️
I want be goalie on hockey just in 23 i think is too Late 😢
I know a few guys who started when they were in their 30's and 40's! I also have a friend who began when he was 25. Never too late!
Great little mobility excercise when you're on the ice! Practice these forward and backward. Keep the chest up and the hands out of your knees. Maintain goalie stands and engage the core. Belly button to spine!
Love this
Thank you for watching!
This is a great educational video. I hope that all the young goalies that are watching these video understand that it take so little of "change" in their game to almost be unstoppable. Great job Austin!
Thank you so much for watching and supporting!
@@thementalgoalie Of course! I´m looking forward to meet you in Yarmouth this summer. /Robert
@@njorgo1 I can't wait!
True
Seems so logical. But I’ve never thought of sizing up a stick on my knees.
I catch myself fairly often thinking about work or the conversation I had before leaving to the rink, etc. mid game. I hate it because it effects my play. I will give this a try.
100%! Thank you for watching!
greets from Germany, great Video! Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Tes
Great tip, Coach!
Appreciate it!
Hello. Thank you for the great video. My son is 10 years old and plays ice hockey. In two days there will be a match between the kids of his team against the parents of the kids. I have no clue about ice skating but I will be the Goalie😅. After watching this video I am confident that I am incompetent.
That sounds like so much fun! Either way, I'm sure it'll be at blast, and now at any rate, you know how to do warmup skating so you'll fool them right off the bat 😂 Thanks for watching!
Damn
🔥
Thanks for putting these up ! Awesome drills
Thank you for watching! Glad they help!
Strarted in 72.. Big year for hockey.. Still play ref and promote this sport.
Hockey continues to grow!
Sweet buddy! Keep that path! Me always the roockey, with 38 yrs. in the pipes. Lol 14 heart attacks later. .. Smile and be a good sport bud .
Thanks for the support!
Great explanation. Sharing this with my goalie today. Cheers!
Glad you got something from it! Thanks for watching!
thanks man, i got states in a week and this really helped.
Awesome, I'm glad! Good luck at states!
Awesome
🙌 thank you!
Thanks tonight I’m going to SKATE the puck up and FORGET the fact that I might lose it.
You've done a fantastic job on this review. Thank you very much.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching!
I went there for goalie practice
Me to I have been to a ton and they are awesome
Yeah Nico!
Yeah Nathaniel! You're awesome!
Thank you. I am a 71 year old goalie playing open pickup 3 days a week. I struggle with random thoughts, distractions, and worries while I'm playing sometimes. Also doubt can creep in, am I good enough, what do the other guys think of my play, etc. I am really going to try this and see if I can clear my head and just have fun, which is the reason I am out there.
That's inspiring! I hope I am playing that much when I am 71!! Let me know if this helps you, I hope it does. Here's a link to get a free copy to a guide I wrote too that might even help you more in that realm: thementalgoalie.thinkific.com/pages/stop-doubting-and-start-dominating-claim-your-free-confidence-guide-today

Your Stop Doubting guide has already improved my play tremendously and I've just started the breathing and meditations!! My in game breathing has helped me focus and stay calm, and has even transformed my tracking. Thanks for everything and I will continue on through the program!!! @@thementalgoalie
Just for the record... I was one of three shooters out there for Seth's private lesson, and I enjoy jumping in and shooting on my goalies from time to time. 😉 It's fun, we battle, and I have a great relationship with my students!
Very good explanation using geometry in glove placement.
Thanks for watching!
The theory is great...but, I can't see a thing you are doing.
TH-cam sort of cut off at farside with the vertical filming, about a quarter of the way through you can see most of my leg and what I'm trying to show the goalies on the ice
This helps so much
Awesome I'm glad to hear that! Follow @thementalgoalie on Instagram for more tips!
There’s no way that kid is an 08
Great save!
Keep your stick on the ground. Could score five hole all day. My coaches would say this guys cheating the drill.
He's in a more passive stance as he comes across the paint. The issue is not stick on the ice, but rather blocker extension. If he projects his hands more, then the stick falls to the ice naturally when he drops. Thanks for commenting
@@thementalgoalieI get it’s a drill, but goalies need to be ready at all times. There no telling when there will be a deflection. I can’t count how many times if a goalie just had his stick on the ground the puck wouldn’t have gone in so easily. You see it all the time in the NHL. I’m sorry but I’m a bit more older class style goalie and in my day it’s considered lazy. To each their own.
@@DrSnackCake5 I appreciate your response. Nowadays, the style is definitely shifted. Passive stances are a little more upright and we see guys at the highest levels moving around the net with their stick not in contact with the ice, but with enough blocker projection to let it drop when they fall. The only thing I would disagree with is calling it lazy, just different styles for different players.
Ima lift it right over his head, I’m kidding I use to be a goalie in 6U and his works paying off😊❤
Gotta start somewhere!
@@thementalgoalie your right!
Puck awareness is pretty much the best I've seen pre NHL
He's a great puck tracker!
In 0:54 how do you play a shot like that and control the rebound without getting a stick on it and leaving it in the middle. Thank you
Great question! Angle of the stick is important here. The goalie in the video should angle his stick blade and paddle more toward the glove side corner in anticipation of controlling the rebound. These are hard shots to control the rebound on, but a little bit of pre shot prep, making sure your stick is at a good angle, will make a huge difference.
Oh thanks but what if its a soft shot heading toward the far pad and you’re not able to lift it to the corner since it’s so soft.
@@rafahockey10 If it's a soft enough shot, then controlling it by stopping it and covering it up would be the best option. There's never anything wrong with controlling it on the stick blade then going for the cover up!
Thank you so much for replying 2 years after this vid was made I appreciate it.
Of course! I stay pretty active on my social accounts. Feel free to give me a follow on Instagram where I put out more content than my TH-cam channel @thementalgoalie
I'm a Yong goalie and ever since I started doing these stretches daily my goal tending has improved, thanks a lot.
Keep up the great work!
