      Hi and thanks for that great question. Part 3 Examiners are very skilled at watching what is happening both inside and outside the car. The reason the sit behind the driver is that allows them to watch both the instructor's and student's head and eye movements. If you get the opportunity, sit in the back of a lesson or L test and you'll see how easy it for Examiners to assess what is happening.

    Bit confused because you said to exit in the right hand lane. Is that because your next exit was to the right? I've seen other instructors telling pupils to exit in the left lane. Personally i think you can use either if it's safe to do so. Can you clarify this for me please.

    • @aatadvancedaditraining2535
      @aatadvancedaditraining2535 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Sure. If you have two lanes on a roundabout and two lanes exiting the roundabout, then you clearly have the potential for two vehicles being side by side and both taking the same exit at the same time. So, if you suddenly moved from the right hand lane to the left lane as you are exiting, you could easily have an accident. Hope that makes sense.

  • @theworldisastage4520

    40:59 sincere question. Is it required to stop and wait for the pedestrians to cross here? I get really confused at these interactions since they ammended the rules.

    • @aatadvancedaditraining2535
      @aatadvancedaditraining2535 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi @theworldisastage4520. That's a great question. The latest Highway Code guidance states we should give-way to pedestrians who want to to cross at the end of a road/junction when safe to do so. Which means as a driver/instructor you need to be totally switched on and fully aware of your surroundings to make the right judgement call. When turning from a main road into a side road, you need to consider if stopping suddenly as you prepare to turn could potentially lead to a rear end collision? If so, and the pedestrians are still standing on the pavement, then it would be safer to proceed. If you are preparing to turn from a side road onto a main road, then you should already be driving at a very low speed as you approach the end of the road, so it should be safe to hold back from the junction and offer the pedestrians the opportunity to cross - but don't beckon them across. If they it seems they don't want to cross, then proceed cautiously, just in case they change their mind. Hope that makes sense.

    • @theworldisastage4520
      @theworldisastage4520 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @aatadvancedaditraining2535 So it could be a different call under different circumstances. My fear of these types of crossings is that if they step into the road just as I drive into it and there's a close following vehicle. I want to give way but I don't want a car driving into the back of me. I have definitely increased my awareness of these crossings and cars In front of me turning into them just in case they suddenly stop. I may even turn into them a bit slow and it does on occasion upset the driver behind me that wants me to get on with turning so they can carry on the main road. Thanks for the reply.

    From my experience as a pdi. True client centered learning or theory is not compatible with the part 3 test. The DVSA at the top via people first who wrote the client centered learning model for the DVSA, it's not delivered at a front end practical level. Firstly alot of the party 3 examiners haven't really brought into it and I feel still don't really understand it. It's originally form from Carl Rodgers etc the examiners are just really tweeking the old test. For example the concept of it of the experiment learning cycle is keeping the pupil safe and allowing the pupil to discover learning in their own terms does not work on a part three test. First they want the wheels moving my examiner said to me two n half mins brief no more than 5 mins talking full stop. How this that give any time for deep client centered learning .it doesn't. They dint want to see faults they want you to jump on the first fault and adapt the session according. It simply doesn't fit. It fits with your day to day lessons but not a part 3 test. I mention to my examiner about it being client centered when he told me I had failed my first attempt And only got a shake of the head. They have no real concept of it. If alot of the a grade adis did a true standards test with client centered learning 90 percent would fail. Examiners are reluctant to fail adis on their standards check and I feel go easy on them due to the politics .many ordit trainers have no concept of client centered learning many have not even done the the version of the test. Your absolutely right in your video. The problem is pdis are having to get a square peg in a round hole. Many like myself thought poor feedback from the examiner know what's required. The pom mspsgl closed junction open junction dsssm like you say mean nothing to a pupil. I never use them it just confuses the pupil. Until the examiners know what client centered learning truly is it's all a non starter. No one in this industry is prepared to speak up and call all this nonsense out

      Hi @Lanzy4lee. I totally feel your pain and get your frustration. The Part 3 can be so confusing and frustrating if you don't get the right training. If you do though, it's actually a lot easier than you might think and you don't need to worry about individual Examiners preferences.

    • @Lanzy4lee
      @Lanzy4lee 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@aatadvancedaditraining2535 the issue is with individual examiners preference is that because you use your local centre you end up 99 percent of the time with the same examiner. Like all schooling. Taught to pass a test. NOT DRIVE. They really need to told. Have it drummed into them that the licence only means they can now LEARN TO DRIVE..... I see learner cars teaching someone. Hogging the middle lane.. not paying attention to lane disapline on roundabouts.. not looking more than once at juntions to help calculate closing speeds... The list goes on.

    Dear Jeff I have assessed a full licence holder on 2 occasions to make sure they keep making the same mistakes over a given period of time. It does appear to be their habit. This person makes several mistakes in any one driving session. Since they are a full licence holder, I was wondering if checking them and helping them to improve on 1 or 2 mistakes over the period of the ADI part 3 exam would be sufficient? Such as hard acceleration and harsh breaking due to driving close to others with poor early obs. Secondly , I am wondering if I should instead , pick up all their major faults in relation to acceleration, breaking, observation and show them how to improve these techniques for becoming more eco- efficient and safer. Your advice would be highly valuable Kind regards

      Hi @samjunior8919. You can pretty much use any subject as the primary focus of an assessment drive, as long as their is a clear rationale as to why the driver needs or wants help with that i.e. why does your candidate want your help in improving their driving safety and/or efficiency? Not you just saying, I going to help my candidate to improve their driving safety and efficiency using ECO Driving. Whether you use a learner of a FLH, it should be Client Centred - not instructor led. Hope that makes sense and all the best for your test. BTW, I have recently recorded a 4hr training session with a PDI on how to use a FLH on a Part 3 which you can purchase. If you are interested, just email me jeff@advancedadi.co.uk and I'll send you the details. All the best, Jeff

    I’ve had 2 tests. First one was a dial on my own part BUT the second one was the examiners fault. Asked me to go second exit (was straight ahead) so as I go straight on he grabs the wheel and almost hits a car behind me. I then went onto a spiral round about and I had indicated very early on to get into the correct lane, he told me I could have gone round in the very left lane, which I couldn’t have due to road markings. The tests are absolutely rigged. They pass a certain amount and fail certain amounts to make money. I’ll not sit here and claim I’m a perfect driver but I’ve had many many people be they family or friends tell me my driving is of a high quality and most importantly safe. Fingers crossed for my third test

      Hi Rob...Thanks for your comment and for anyone else reading this comment from @ROBBIEHOOD-uh he is the former instructor included within this video. Please check out his channel. My comment about my Dad's driving test is what is called an anecdote. I've no idea if that was what genuinely happened. The two articles you refer to about Examiner's being sacked for not following quotas are from 2005 and 2010. And nothing since as far as I can see. Seems very weak evidence to me - but I'm not a lawyer. If you watched the video all the way through, you will have seen I researched and analaysed the DVSA data in great detail by test centre, age, and gender - and their Annual Report and Accounts, so not sure where you are coming from on that one. As mentioned in the video, I wished you all the best in your dispute with the DVSA....so, would be great if you could update us on how that's going, if it's been concluded, and the outcome. All the best, Jeff

    I saw another video first which give the impression that something dramatic happened afterwards I will not say what it is cuz I don't want to be wrong. I watched the video through a link from the said video and I could not believe this man could say what he said. Back in the 70s everybody believe that the test was fixed and there was quota systems. I began being an instructor in the early 1980s and to be honest I felt exactly the same. When I started with BSM I took students up who were not taught by me and to be honest I was a bit intimidated. I would let my students go on test and I would not get back to after the examiner and got back because I didn't want a confrontation or to be honest told off. I was amazed that students that were absolutely dreadful would pass the test. then really mystified when students who I believe were brilliant drivers would fail. This backs up the man's argument but I suddenly realized that people drive completely different on the driving test somewhat up the game and some completely lose it. I also very quickly realized that the test was about what you faced on that driving test exactly as the man in the video today has said. If you're in the outer Hebrides there's no traffic and if you're in the middle of London there's plenty. That also happens in any test center in the country. At this moment in 2024 in our local test center you can have a 8:10 test in the morning in the rush hour but they regularly do Saturday morning tests and an 8:10 test you're driving around the local area on your own. I know when the pass rate is higher.after 40 years I have just retired and I can assure people that the driving test is 100% fair well it is in this test center I used all those years. In the last 15 years I've had a dash cam fitted to the front of my car and when a student comes back and is failed I look on the dash cam and you can clearly see it there is no doubt whatsoever. Around about three four years ago I had a lad who was a bit of an argumentative git. When the examiner did the debrief and this examiner was new, I'd never met him before that day. He told the student / candidate that he had failed for jumping to stop lines and the lad started to get a bit irate before I tap him on the shoulder. The examiner then said check it on the dash cam and tapped the dash cam. When the student watch the dash cam footage it was so clear that he'd rolled both the junctions and it changes attitude 100%. I went on to the other video and I wrote a totally different message but basically said do not believe all this old wives tales. It doesn't help the students. I remember many many years ago probably 30 plus years ago and instructor who I was talking to told me this absolutely ridiculous statement. Today the examiners ask the student if they want their instructor to sitting back. I like to say here after 40 years I've never sat in the back of a test. But back in those days you had to ask the examiner if your instructor could sit in the back. They give you a few groung rules and then you went in the back. This instructor told me and I just laughed internally. If examiner A comes out and calls your name he's the one with the glasses ask for me to sit in the back because I don't trust him and I think he fails my pupils for no reason. I thought how does that help your student they're on edge before they've even started. He then proceeded to tell me a few months later that is sitting in the back made him feel stupid because he suddenly realized that the examiner was being 100% fair. And realize how students turned into a Jekyll and Hyde situation. The reason students fail the test is simple they're not good enough. Most students do not get up to the standard and rely a bit on how lucky they are with the traffic flow. For example if you came up to a mini roundabout and it was really busy you could easily struggle to find a gap. The examin can see the gaps clearly but you're not experienced enough. You could end up failing your test for that but if you come up to the same roundabout and there's no traffic anybody can sell straight through the roundabout even though they haven't got clue what they're doing. If the driving test people fix the rates why haven't they been able to raise them up to get rid of this waiting list that we have at the moment. It's so simple so why aren't they done it because they do not fix the rate it's basically the same year after year after year. I will say one thing that the password I think at the moment has gone up for the simple reason that because of the waiting list a lot of students are better prepared before taking the test. My pass rate just before I finish was the best I've ever had in 40 years why because my students were better prepared than them whinging in your ear every week to take the test when there was a 6-week waiting list and it only had three lessons. Anyway I forgot to say I agree with this man 100%

    If only it were that easy 😂 It sounds like you’ve advised not to look forward at the roundabout. I would say that check is very important. I find that if a pupil looks to the right TOO early they drift, they don’t position correctly, they could hit a car in front that hasn’t moved off yet. But the idea of open questions is a good move. 👍

    • @aatadvancedaditraining2535
      @aatadvancedaditraining2535 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi @dsaadi1. Thanks for your comment which I both agree and disagree with. Yep, getting student's looking right on the approach to a roundabouts could cause them to drift - which is clearly something which needs to fixed. Alternatively, if they don't look right right on the approach to the roundabout they'll either stop when they didn't need to, or try to enter the roundabout when it wasn't safe to. So, they are two inter-related, but different problems, which need to addressed individually. Hope that makes sense. Cheers, Jeff

    A few things to note, if your working for 30 hours a week , then inbetween driving is NOT work, that's like saying if you have a 2 hour commute to work and back for an 8 hour day that equates to 10 hours work, it does NOT !!

      @@aatadvancedaditraining2535 Sorry not wishing to knock as many you tube vids say the same, but travelling time to and from work IMO is not counted as hourly rate , be that employed or self employed, just my thoughts. Hi@@SteveJones-gz4vd I totally agree, which is why I explain if you're teaching 8 hours a day that's the equivalent of working at least 10 hours a day due to commute times to and from lessons, taking toilet breaks etc. Personally I think being a driving instructor is an amazing career - you can earn a very decent wage, get huge job satisfaction and great work/life balance if you do the job right. It's not a job which is right for everyone - but were here to support people who need support.

    Just want to point out that was a close pass to the cyclist. It’s meant to be at least 1.5m which means you should have been in the right hand lane to be able to pass there. Very poor demonstration imo if that’s what you’re showing your students to do

    • @aatadvancedaditraining2535
      @aatadvancedaditraining2535 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi@twoshottino1991. Think you need to go back an re-watch that section of the video again (6:15 - 6:30). Appreciate camera lens distortion can make things look a bit different to reality - but that road is a least 5m wide (my car is less than 2m wide) and I was fully in the right hand lane when passing the cyclist which you can clearly see as I approach the end of the road and move back to the left - so I was around 2m away from the cyclist when overtaking them. By all means, call me out anytime. I'm not perfect and I hold my hands-up if I make a mistake. But you need to watch things more carefully before making a judgement.
