When I first went there at Christmas 1952 the town was still very much devastated by 79;allied air raids.I have been back 7 times since,and agree it is now a lovely City.
I recently hiked most of this road, though I split from it in Augsburg and headed towards Garmisch-P instead. It really is an experience to walk these historic cities! Ochsenfurt if not officially on the Romantic road but could also be worth a stop.

Wir wohnen im Mittleren Westen der USA und waren in letzter Zeit nicht in der Lage unser geliebtes Ruhrgebiet, sprich Oberhausen, Essen und Ratingen, zu besuchen. Deshalb tut es unserer Seele und unserem Herzen gut Ihre Reportage zu erleben und gefuehlsmaessig aufs Neue in uns aufzunehmen. Machen Sie weiter so. Vielen herzlichen Dank. Vielleicht koennen Sie ja auch einmal in der Zukunft die Bismarck Allee und die Lipperheidstrasse sowie den Uhlandpark und die Muehlheimerstrasse in Ihren Bilderbericht aufnehmen. Hierzu muessen Sie wissen, dass mein Mann als kleiner Junge die Marienschule und die Marienkirche besucht hat. Also bis dann. Bleiben Sie gesund!!!!

once you entered thru the Segringer Tor, and turned left, the 1st right you could take is the Koppengasse. The large buiding to the right is the Jugendherberge (Youth Hostel), the House right next door (going down the hill) is Kopppengasse 9 .. I was born and raised in that House .. My Oma and Opa lived upstairs, my parents and I lived on the 1st floor ...
and as you're driving up the hill (wood fence to the left. a wall to the right, that used to be a Monastery (Kloster) .. not sure what it is now
right at the beginning, he goes down the Koppengasse .. I was born & raised Koppengasse 8, right next door to the Jugendherberge ... we lived downstairs, Oma & Opa lived upstairs
