Is it correct, that the halo ring got no ground cable?

I've been riding Japanese street bikes since 1975. And the ls650 has the worse back brake ever. Both of my helmets fit ok full face and brain bucket don't burn up. My stock handle bars are fine. My saddle bags are small but useful. And I've never had a gas gauge on any of my bikes so my notepad app is where I keep odometer readings and gas mileage, oil changes. I bought this bike for 2,000$ with 7k on it 5 years ago. It's a cheap bike, low cost. Low power, 30hp, simple to fix, with one minor problem, a oil leak from inside the valve cover. There is a plug about the size of a quarter. And when it leaks is runs down on the exhaust and it smokes. It took me 4 hours to tare down the valve cover and put it back together. So there you have it, 2 problems, THE BACK BRAKE SUCKS, And the oil leak seems to happen a lot these bikes. And for 100 years or so motorcyclist have had a choice on the petcock main-res. You run on main then you switch it to RESERVE and go find a gas station. I like my ls650, 380lb wet, easy to maneuver, easy and cheap to fix. And after 33 years in the making this bike, is still a favorite for kids to make bobbers out of it. To each it's own.

Thank you for your channel. I am a senior but new to my S40, 2015, which I found in storage with only 525 miles. Took a lot of cleaning and getting out the old gas, oil and a good carb cleaning. Now it looks and runs like new again. I agree with your criticisms of the bike. Fortunately I have a second bigger bike with saddlebags if I want to tour. I noticed you have some kind additional padding on the seat? What is it and maybe you can shoot a short video about it? Age and injury has forced me to downsize for low weight and the S40 is excellent in this regard. It was expensive, but I found a new old stock sissybar, backrest and rear rack for it. I can now use a seat bag and a rack bag and it is enough for a two day or three day tour. I don't want to try touring on it until I figure out the seat and make it more comfortable. I too will keep this bike until I am gone and then my son can have it. There is something about the torque and the extreme simplicity of this bike that appeals to me and many others.

Did you end up posting a video of how you attached the ammo boxes? Looked through your channel and couldn't find anything. Would be cool to make the same mod on mine, curious to see how you did it.

I agree about the older handlebars. Mine is a 2013 and it came with the drag bars. Much more comfortable. As far as the gas, I changed my gas tank to a Sportster style, but I check it often. Helmet hanger was a totally dumb idea.....lol. Luckily I live in PA so no helmet laws. Cool idea with the ammo can and the hooks. 👍

Good review and nice little bike! I feel like small bikes don’t get a fair shake in North America. I’ve got a bigger cruiser but I’d love one of these for short trips and the occasional bit of shenanigans
