Infanticide: an outline legal landscape and discussion on next steps
The aim of this seminar was to inform and to bring together for discussion parties who work in this field, including academics, lawyers, mental health experts, and those providing social support to women, to assess whether the current legal framework is adequate.
The seminar was chaired by Karlia Lykourgou, who spoke about trends in infanticide cases and findings from the 2024 Cambridge ProBono Project Report. Other speakers included Dr Emma Milne from Durham University and Dr Karen Brennan from Essex University, who gave an overview of the law of infanticide and common myths; Dr Rebecca Moore from the East London NHS Foundation Trust who spoke about pregnancy denial and post-natal disorders; Anna Ford from Shearman Bowen who discussed lessons for defence lawyers from recent cases, and Katy Thorne KC who spoke about Paris Mayo and Constance Marten’s cases.

    Im just curious, asking Google links of Trading standards and Discrimination- is obvious all Traders are committed to the Equality Act 2010, and basically- is like saying Man can Murder his wife when he wants, and nobody obligates him to respect the law? What would judge decide in that case? Tradins standard operator said- if case comes to the tribunal- only what judge would decide is Trader bring out money, judge ca not make the decision for a trader to follow Equality Act rules. I remember one of my couleg put the employee on tribunal- he get- all salaries from the day he was unlawfully dismissed - trader was obligated to put him back on job. I believe in the case of Morrisons vs Jewish peoples, Jewish people would be able to shop at Morrison after the tribunal decision, NO? Or they would just get 1.99 back? What would the judge say? I can not even define whats my protective characteristic? Im a white single woman without a living relative, in past victim of racial motivated domestic abuse.

    I sware to you that trading standard Phone Operator - who is not trained in discrimination, finds it LEGAL TRADE if a certain business subject (for example- Morrisons) refuses to sell goods to certain individuals (for example Bread to Jews) . There is no Trading Standard Low that can force Morrisons to trade with Jewish peoples in UK,. The only thing what you can do, in 2024 is changing the bakery????

For sure, Mrs. Clooney knows it as well but as a "well-known" lawyer, it would be hard for her to admit the defeat in front of the public. The Court held on the violation of Swiss gov't. And she was representing the Swiss gov't. Verdict is clear: NO EVIDENCE regarding the genocide. Therefore, right of freedom of speech of the applicant has been violated.

    Here is a summary of the key points from the text: This is a webinar presented by barristers from Doughty Street Chambers on the topic of the UK Equality Act and disability discrimination. The webinar covers international law relating to disability rights (UN Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities, European Convention on Human Rights), as well as how disability is defined and protected against discrimination under the UK Equality Act. The different types of discrimination prohibited under the Equality Act are explained, including direct discrimination, indirect discrimination, discrimination arising from disability, and failure to make reasonable adjustments. Examples are provided to illustrate the concepts, especially in contexts like education, housing, services and employment. Guidance is given on how to prove disability status, who can bring claims as the claimant in different scenarios, what areas of life are covered by the Equality Act, potential remedies available through courts/tribunals if successful, and the practical aspects of initiating a discrimination claim. There is a Q&A section addressing specific inquiries from attendees on matters like applicability to prisons, gyms accommodating autistic members, and being able to argue multiple types of discrimination for the same circumstances. So in summary, it comprehensively covers the legal frameworks, key concepts, and practical considerations around disability discrimination law in the UK.

    • @renovareuk
      @renovareuk 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      summary focused on the types of discrimination covered under the UK Equality Act and what to do if you experience discrimination: Under the Equality Act, there are several forms of disability discrimination that are prohibited: Direct Discrimination - This is when you are treated less favorably because of your disability. For example, being refused admission to a school due to your disability. There is no justification defense for direct discrimination. Indirect Discrimination - This occurs when there is a policy or practice that applies equally to everyone, but puts those with a disability at a substantial disadvantage compared to non-disabled people. However, indirect discrimination can be justified if the policy is a proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim. Discrimination Arising from Disability - This is when you are treated unfavorably because of something arising in consequence of your disability. For instance, being disciplined at work for disability-related sickness absences. This can be justified if the treatment is a proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim. Failure to Make Reasonable Adjustments - Organizations are required to make reasonable changes to policies, practices, premises or equipment to remove substantial disadvantages faced by disabled people. A failure to do so when reasonable is disability discrimination. If you experience any of these forms of discrimination, there are steps you can take: Gather evidence documenting what occurred, including witness statements if possible. Check if the duty to make reasonable adjustments applies in your situation. Follow any grievance or complaint procedures the organization has. You can make a claim in the County Court or Employment Tribunal if discrimination occurred in areas covered by the Equality Act like employment, education, housing, services etc. Seek legal advice from discrimination law specialists about your rights and making a claim. Claims must be brought within strict time limits, usually 6 months minus 1 day from the discrimination act. The remedies available if your claim succeeds can include compensation, policy changes, reasonable adjustments, reinstatement to a job, among other remedies ordered by the court/tribunal.
