Making Our First MILLION | Perfect Communist Island Ep 12 | Tropico 6
In this video, we make a fair bit of progress while letting our treasury explode through the roof. It's getting to the point that I can barely quick build buildings fast enough to keep the treasury below 1M. We also spread our first bit of new buildings onto a new island finally.

Getting Lots of Housing Set Up | Ostriv Episode 3
Hey SM. Loving this series. Would people automatically move into modern apartments if you turned on the "no shacks" edict?
That is a really good idea! I always forget about all the the newer stuff! I'll make sure to turn it on in the next episode. 😄
Your economy doesn't look very strong at the moment. Your income is too low compared to your yearly expenses, and the traffic jams might be contributing to this issue. The efficiency of your industry depends on the following factors: 1. How much time employees waste outside the factory. 2. How much time teamsters waste outside their office. 3. How much time teamsters waste during transportation. For points 1 and 2, as long as workers have housing and amenities near their workplace, you're in good shape. Prioritize teamsters since factory workers can compensate with double shifts if needed. For point 3, it’s about distribution. Ideally, industries should be spread across different parts of the town to ensure they take separate routes for different goods. Additionally, block all exports by unchecking them. Over time, if there’s no local demand for a good, teamsters won’t waste time transporting unnecessary items. However, if you have a trade route, goods will still be exported even if they’re unchecked for export. Setting teamsters to the maximum budget is inefficient. Even at the minimum payout, they can transport up to 1,300 goods using the "Loose Load" option. This is practical because most of the time, they won’t be carrying maximum loads anyway. Finally, aim to complete a "Custom Office" trade route within 60 months. This ensures you have enough time to accumulate 10,000 goods for the next shipment cycle.
Send this video to the Devs maybe they’ll listen. Hell, maybe they’ll make it all a patch for Tropico 6. 🤷🏻♂️😏
Great videos but bro you gotta stay in the Colonial era for a longer amount of time. Stack up millions there and then progress and the game is totally different to play. It snowballs into every era.
Yeah you are right, I usually just jump to the next era immediately. I like to make it to the modern times era quickly so I can start building up the final build of the island. But sometimes that thought pops into my head. Like what if I was to flash out the entire island before moving onto later eras? I'll probably do this on my next series! Thanks for the comment 😄
@ always brother🤝🫡
Another thing about the media buildings because I'm 90% sure I'm right about this lol. Once you successfully influence someone they become part of the die hards for that particular faction. However diehards themselves cannot be influenced which is why the tropicans can only be influenced once. That's the point of the Bradenburg Gate world wonder which removes diehards making it easier to do propaganda. Another thing is if your using propaganda for say the communists then your directly pulling from the non diehards in the capitalist faction. It has no impact on any of the other factions. So once say it's only diehard capitalists the propaganda won't work anymore
@brandonb7925 I'm not 100% sure honestly and it would take some testing with a beginning island. I'll start up an island with the lowest population, name some people and test how a newspaper works on them. I'll respond to a comment with the results soon. It would be nice to learn exactly how it all works.
@@stackingmodifiers2465 I can confirm that media propaganda primarily converts people from the "rival" faction. For example, Capitalists to Communists, Religious to Militarists, Environmentalists to Industrialists, or Intellectuals to Conservatives. When you use propaganda, it moves individuals into the "die-hard" category of their faction, making them resistant to further conversion. If you focus propaganda on only one faction-for instance, Communists-you will end up with mostly die-hard Communists, very few Capitalists, and about half of the members of each other faction shifting toward Communism but without many die-hards. (Apparently, a citizen can belong to up to four factions.)
I think a communist island needs free housing tbh
@antontorres9927 Yeah, that would be a good goal to aim for. It would probably be something that I tack on near the end. Currently, I'm getting like 150k a year off rents though. Turning on free housing now would flounder the island sadly. Once everything is up and running and I'm near the end of the series, I'll probably be able to set it up no problem.
This is the first time I see a communist state full of skyscrapers. Reminds me of China, which I'm assuming you've mixed communists with a bit of free market capitalism
@@SteezyRedStars to me, the biggest thing is to have the entire population in the same class. Currently, if everyone has a job and I manage a couple of job sites, then every last person should make it into the well-off class.
This was a great little guide bro, Did you not release part 3?
Oh wow! This was actually my first ever set of videos that I ever released! I made an entire 2-part guide on beginner to advanced tips! You can find it on the channel, and I also uploaded over a dozen of full series since this video was released. Thanks for the comment! 😄

It''s raining with teamsters.
Keep this going, SM. Love this series, bro. I do have a question. I've noticed in previous videos that when you set up the tourist areas, you almost exclusively use hotels and none of the other resorts. I was just wondering why you use them all of the time?
Honestly, you bring up a great point. The reason that I usually use the hotels is because they are cheap, and they return a lot of money with the tourist they bring as well and the rents that those tourist pay. It's a cheap way to get a lot of tourist on the island. I don't like going with anything cheaper or small than these and I only go with bigger more expensive hotels if I can afford it and it matches the vibe of the island. But since you bring it up, I should honestly bring in rich tourists. Maybe even only filthy rich tourist! I just got some pretty cool ideas from your comment! I'll delve into it on the next episode. I can't upload tomorrow but the day after! Thanks! 😄
Keep em coming
woah that guerilla patrol made 900 tourist leave the island, gotta be carefull with that apparently haha

@@Pvyron ty friend

@@Dark40061 ty! 😄
I think the inverse lobbying means there was a duel demand and you chose the other factions request. About the media building bug... I think each tropican can only get influenced by a media building once. Once your population has been influenced the rate of influence depends on new population
I'll change the constitution back to Media Independence and check after a couple of months to see if the media buildings are actually influencing people again. I think I've done this before and saw that things we different.
With the going viral DLC you can get export deals of 440% for things like masks and the virus cure. I think that's the highest I've ever seen
You should arrest the poor uneducated people and change the work mode on the prison to get an education

Isn’t there a raid that decreases Caribbean happiness?
@jasonpeacock9735 YES! There is! Honestly not a bad idea. The only downside to it is that it doesn't last terribly long. But I'll probably just set it on a repeat queue forever.
You could always just limit the amount of people working in the shopping mall so you have less poor people while still getting the benefit of the shopping mall
@brandonb7925 That is a good idea, the only issue is that the amount of visitor slots open is tied to how many workers there are 😧 if only the building payed $1 per month more on the max budget!
@stackingmodifiers2465 it would limit the visitor slots but maintain the same efficiency unlike other buildings like the power plants and stuff. I think it's funny a shopping mall employee is too poor to even shop at the shopping mall haha
@@brandonb7925 efficiency will be high, but I need enough visitor slots to allow the entire island to visit the buildings. I could try only having a few visitor slots and try to balance it out, but if I'm going to be able to get 100 service quality for food, I might as well get it for the entire island and cope with the issues.
pretty sure the devs are too busy raking in low risk cash from churning out dlc's to even think about 7.
I've read from multiple sites that they are in early development of Tropico 7. None of them credible though, so I guess all we can do is hope that they will release a trailer for it soon!
SM, loving this series. I got kinda nervous when the popularity dropped down into the 30's but you've got Tropico humming, bromigo. Looking forward to the next episode.
Thanks a lot! Yeah dealing with support can suck sometimes. I managed it well enough here and I was really hoping that I made it through, lucky for me I did! 😅
the transportation take that u made, seems to be inspired by Workers and Soviet Republic's mechanics, a lot.
I downloaded that game a couple ofonths ago and played it for like 5 mins before refunding it. I just didn't like the building mechanics, it felt like I had little control, maybe I'm just bad! 😅
@@stackingmodifiers2465 nah bro it's totally understandable. The game is not at all User friendly and confusing af for newer players but yeah i can say for sure it beholds a LOT of stuffs.
SM, I'm loving this series. I guess I have my usual question. What would it take to have an island where everyone is either rich or filthy rich? Is that possible to have no poor or well off folks? I guess my second question is could you replace all that housing that you tore down? It seems as if your support tanked after that. Overall, I am really digging this series.
@c.r.chandler5905 I gave it a mighty attempt on my "Rich Island" series. I think at least half of my population was rich. Almost everyone, if not everyone, was at least well off. My original inklings were the fact that you could import food? Maybe you could simply import the goods you could use to process into expensive goods? Have everyone in rich jobs and just don't make poor jobs. I'm sure you could find a way, especially with a small population. I would have to think about it some more!
@c.r.chandler5905 Thanks for the comments btw! I need to set up my discord server so fans of the game and my channel can share cool ideas and screenshots and stuff!
This is such a cool concept. I really like the idea that each neighborhood is it's own self contained area.
@c.r.chandler5905 Yes! I think it will probably be my greatest creation yet once it's all finished!
I like to use the turbines for power because they don't need employees. I like to keep my populations small
I wish you could place Tropicans in any job or house as long as their wealth or education level matches. Even if you build things perfectly you will still have tropicans living like miles away from their workplace even with open housing available closer. I wish we had a bit more control in that regard
Yes, the first 2 communist islands that I made, I never made it over 1.5k. On this island i want to push it. I want to make it to something like 5k I think. Eventually I will start up a wind turbine area, but I'm going to need to push the island towards the intellectual faction because the conservative faction hates renewable energy.
Yeah, if I could choose who lives where and who works where, then I would be able to create a perfect island with the first setup. But going with a huge block system and simply choosing metro stations will keep things perfect.
First! Never been this early to a video
Hey SM, I am really digging this series but I do have a question. It always seems like I have one after one of your videos. What I was wondering was do you intend of adding more fire stations through the islands? This island is getting huge and I just wonder if one fire station is okay for the size.
I think that only a few are needed. The only time that I ever really run into a problem with there being a lot of fires is when the Religious Faction's Ultimatum falls through and the religious faction members walk around starting fires. Even then, with only a couple of fire stations, you can buy the fire helicopter upgrades for them and can put out dozens of fires in a minute or two. The only other big thing is to actually use the fire stations' work modes to do various things like increase local housing quality or decrease the upkeep cost of all nearby buildings. The latter is probably what I plan on doing for this island, but only for the most expensive parts like industrial zones and downtown areas with lots of tall buildings. Thanks for the comments! 😄
One the more successful islands I built I made a massive slum by the factories, mines, etc and then probably 10 prisons, maybe more at the height, put them on a setting that made money and then jailed nearly the entire religious faction, set up check points and jailed the criminals too. It made me so much extra money I could build nice houses, mansions and entertainment all over.
Tropico is really flexible, and I love that about this series! I tried to set up an island that was all about criminals. I think it was the first major series that I did on the channel over a year ago. I think at the height, I had around 10% of the population as criminals!
@ I’ll have to check that out! I’ve liked your videos but one thing I always try to do better on is the teamsters. Do you cover that in any of your videos? I always end up with so many teamsters buildings I usually just sacrifice a large area to put nothing but teamsters and bus routes to that area.
@sanctifymymusic If you watch any of my playthroughs, I usually talk about it quite frequently. I am about to upload pt2 to my new communism playthrough. What I usually do is check out different production buildings and see if they have a lot of goods waiting around. If I spot like 2-3 plantations with over 1k goods sitting around, then I usually make a new teamster office. I would always talk about never having too many teamsters' offices on the max budget as well. If you have a lot of upgraded teamsters' offices and they are all on the max budget, then you could be losing a lot of money every month and not notice. The average budget will do fine most of the time. Keep an eye on that almanac!
Excellent video. I am digging this series already.
You can move on to the cold War Era even faster using the Convincing talk to get through the 4 sabotages
Gasp!!! If this works...I swear! I'll record the episode today and it will up uploaded tomorrow! Thanks for the tip! Ps, might not have the Swiss bank money for that though!
Great video, communist utopia is always what a strive for in Tropico. Can't wait for the next episode!
Thanks! I'm planning on taking my time and making this the best island that I've made thus far!
what i always did was to rush the farm research inside the dome. also bring an explorer in the first rocket to uncover everything, which shows you you can research and gives you research points, which makes it easier to rush the farm and other essential starter techs. i never ever did use the fungus farm about the start, i find that its very annoying and it greatly influences the playthrough, so I think its fair to cheat and preexplore the whole map with a rocket full of probes, then start again and land where its optimal, which would be vista+water+rare metal+research boost reachable with new dome. never had problem with metals, i always put the transport in auto mode and it gathers all the metals in the map, altho i think its a mod.
almost 1k subs woohooo
There are more missions in the DLC, but you would have to purchase them...
The DLC missions are very disappointing. All the final missions at least have some sort of rave against the clock element which is lame in my opinion
Yes, I just might in the near future!
Excellent series, SM. Looking forward to the sandbox missions
Me too!
Yeah, it's been way way way too long without a new one. I love Tropico; it's a lot simpler than most games like this, and I love it.
I love this series as well! I hope to see a trailer for a new one soon!
Which island is this done on
I shot the B-Roll on many different islands. Any shot in particular? I only remember a few..😅
Destrozado is the island that I built the largest city on. It's the one with all of the skyscrapers. I built out onto the island that is out on its own. It was actually the first set of videos that I uploaded. The one about capitalism.
Transportation definitely needs an upgrade. Free wheels he. It’d be cool to have a light rail or a tram or something. Auto/passenger ferries would also be cool. Teleferic stations are cool, but we need another form of transportation that we can access in the earlier eras. Also hope they bring back the No More Shacks edict. Just build no houses and people skip the sleep cycle entirely. I think the next game will be fun as long as there’s stuff to experiment with.
Yeah, I can imagine how it could be a lot better. I guess time will tell! I mainly hope that there is more to do with the world, bigger maps, and more individual building customization.
I'm digging this series but I'm curious as to why you didn't build up some sort of a military presence on the side of the island that kept getting hit.
I felt that I had already built up too many military buildings and if I made more, without building the economy, then I would have gone broke. The military I had was good enough for almost any fight, it was just going to take a bit of time for them to win fights. I probably should have done something though, even if it was just a few guard towers!
They won't take the goods from the warehouse to dock unless you turn on allow transport to dock even if you don't have the auto export turned off
I figure that is how it's supposed to work, but I swear that I've seen them take goods to the dock and sell them. I just like the added security of things if I can help it.
Love your videos, btw, I want to see a military dictatorship series in tropico 6
I've done one once before. You can find it on the channel in my Playlist, but after having done the mission Superpower Defense, I think I have some new ideas. I'll probably do another one soonish. Thanks for the comment! 😄
what a chill things to watch my guy <3
Thank you!
The teamsters won't take goods from the ware house unless you select allow processing. Right now they are just taking it from the dock to the plastics plant with the extra going to the warehouse . Once the trade route is finished just remember to turn on allow processing
From what I can tell, they are delivering the oil to the plastics plant. As long as the oil exporting is turned off, then we should only be processing it and the extra will hang out in the dock or storage.
@stackingmodifiers2465 I could be wrong but when I was messing around with warehouses and the drones I noticed they wouldn't take the goods from the warehouse even with a route set up unless you turn allow processing on. I assumed it was the same for the teamsters.
Ahhhhh! It took me a second to realize exactly what you meant! I get it now. Yeah I'll have to change that around in the next episode! Thanks for the comment! 😄
Heist the wonder that gives all your natural born citizens a high-school education
That would be a good idea, I think I want to heist the pyramids and the sphinx so that I can unlock that achievement. I needed to get those done throughout the 100% series, but I totally spaced them! 😰I'll consider the Register though, it would be an easy way to get a lot of high school educated Tropicans.
