Men you are inspirng me to finally start making something serious about magic. I have known a lot of techniques and tricks but i havent got into work and create a routine. Now with all these deep inside about a magicians mind in your channel i think its the right time. Thanks man❤! I appreciate it a lot👍
It's that time of year again where my obsession with card magic takes root, and your videos and philosophical knowledge of the subject is always a welcomed inspiration. Pay no attention to the haters and trolls. While you may call yourself The Common Magician.. your encyclopedic understanding and application of said topics and techniques are anything but "common". You are a modern Expert At The Card Table, even if you're too humble to think that's the case..
I don't read all of the comments on your videos Carl and of those i do read, i have never seen any negativity. I'm surprised that some exist that have necessitated this video. I'm not surprised at your elegant rebuttal and perfectly timed reveal! Which has also served to make me want to revisit your video on the table wash! Kudos and keep up the great work.
@@terryfletcher4717 I delete negative comments quickly and block trolling.
What a clever way to order your thinking and use the right words to make a logical point about the situation. Very eloquent, maestro!
Love the timing of the demonstration along to the lecture.... this gave me a big smile. 😊
Love the way you hide the slug 😎
So some people came here a place called "The Common Magician" and found out you`re not outskilling Jason Ladanye? Spoiler alert for those [censored] neither are they and they have neither the courage nor the generosity necessary to teach what they know (assuming they know anything)
👍✊
I love me some Jason Ladanny. Or whatever his name is. And I also really like your videos.
I've been watching for ages and I love your table wash ideas, but can't for the the life of me remember, or find any of them. Could you post any links for me?

@@thecommonmagician Thanks!
So where do you get a thick “slug “ card ? It’s got to match deck right?
You can make a double think card by rubber cementing 2 cards together. Many decks come with an advertising card that has a matching back design. Glue this to the back of a joker and you have a double thick card. Alternatively, take a spare card from an older deck with a matching back and glue it to the joker (or any other card) from the deck in use.
You should teach the dribble catch if you know that!
I have a product on Penguin for the dribble catch called "Catching Cold" I teach a gimmicked and an impromptu approach to it. I also teach the gimmicked approach on a video download called "Spare Key" I have discussed the methods on the channel several times. You'll find it if you look.
Wonderful teachings
This is so amazing! Def inspired me to practice false deals again, thank you!
Love it, Great Attitude about it, and exatly the Right Information for this Place
Thanks bro, now I just need 5 years of practice…
cool video!
You're a monster. In a good way. Clearly a lot of folks, myself included, are here because of another "control-guy," but it's so cool to see some of these techniques explained without all the fake bravado crap. Thanks man. Best to you.
Content starts about 6 mins in.
Very nice Sir thank you for so much detail❣️♠️♣️♦️
skip the first 6 minutes
This is a brilliant video
I've got no intentions of ever doing these tricks. BUT.....I found your video more interesting than say ,a magician doing a trick. Although I really admire good magicians, at the back of my mind is, if I knew how to do it it might spoil the trick for me. The exact opposite happened. It made me admire the skill it takes to perform the trick faultlessly. ( Subscribed 👍 )
Very thorough... I subscribed
Next Bottom deal please hand griff. And throwing advice me.
Great tutorial
I missed the part where you insult our mothers.
@@tomprice4016 um... so did I...?
@@thecommonmagician It was sarcasm. You realize that's part of Jason's L schtick, right?
@tomprice4016 Haven't been watching Jason lately, so wasn't on my mind.
@@thecommonmagician It speaks less to you being a decent human and more to Jason being a tool.
*STARTS HERE -->* 6:30 *When controlling just one card I prefer "losing" it at the beginning to the bottom of the deck because now I don't have to watch it as I wash the deck. Of course after the wash I can move that card anywhere I want.* 22:33 *Great video!*
The think someome said once, im afraid could be true, is thst nowadays, people react less and less , because of over stimulatiom on their phones, people say the dopamime of someone watching a guy playing piano for example would skyrocket in comparisom witj someone of our modern lifes
Yes, we are used to see magic everyday on our phones, but 90% havent seen magic on the phone and 99% never seen ot live, sometimes even if they comeback after 1 month they dont even remmember, they want to have fun. Me as a bartender, And 1 year in card magic, like im bartending I wanted to find the classics first, because they have to be good if not they wouldnt be classics.
I FOUND MY NEW MENTOR!
Really interesting video. Thanks for sharing. Some of these techniques are more fascinating than the tricks.
@@AveragePicker this video is getting a lot of attention lately. Did you see it posted or mentioned somewhere?
@thecommonmagician No just popped up in my feed. I watch some magic stuff here and there sporadically.
@@thecommonmagician it's algorithm turnover from jason's content. i have been watching him a ton and this popped up in my feed. thanks for the detailed presentation, mind boggling how people make this stuff look easy
I'm surprised you don't have more subscribers...
@lowspeed2000 We're pretty low key here.
I think I could do one of these techniques -- the wonderfully deceptive keep-a-finger-on-your-card-at-all-times wash. It makes me laugh that a magician could get away with that--- it's so simple, almost crude -- and obviously undetectable if skillfully executed. Thanks for the entertaining demo!
im watching this because i cant stop watching ladanye. very cool stuff
How does jason spin a coin over a washed deck and the coin falls on the chosen card?
@larryfriedlander7000 well, either... - he controls the spin to land on a force (he has practiced spinning over an arrangement of cards to have some control) - the spin is random, but the outcome is somehow rigged with multiple outs - he knows the target and he does only a few takes until he hits it - magic ...among other possibilities.
Where were those 4 axes dealt from? I couldn't see anything fishy?

Killer ideas!
@CalebWilesMagic Thanks for stopping by, Caleb!
I really like your insights and long details about magic, pls ignore everyone telling you to shorten them
I've been studying card magic for more than a decade now. Thousands of videos on TH-cam plus paid content from some of the most prominent artists out there. Just recently I bumped into this channel by chance, and I have to say Carl - the way you handle these topics with your personal thoughts and discussions is by far the best videos I've seen yet. A very excited thumb up from me. Please keep up your excellent work, and if you ask me - I vote for a playlist with Automatic Placement content. I find this topic extremely hot right now.
Another indispensable video Carl. Thank you. On the subject of the 21 Card Trick a version Bill Malone performs is a thing of beauty. A great way to fool people who have seen the original procedural trick and think they know how that trick works.
@terryfletcher4717 I'll have to check out Malone's. Harry Anderson had a version for magicians as well where the performer does all of the wrong procedure and names the card anyway. I seem to recall that his worked on a well-timed peek 🤣
Great video!
I love this channel. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. ❤ 🤜🤛 One placement that is used very little is think of a number between 1-10. Remember the card at your number without reversing their order. Cut all 10 to the bottom. After false cuts say it's highly unlikely I could cut your card back to its orginal position. Ask for their number, then deal down to show the card is no longer there. Place the packet on the bottom and now the "thought of card" is automatically 11th from bottom.
Nice scratch system on the Red Bicycles! By any slight chance do you have a PDF on the scratch designs?
@earth56 no, I didn't create a key. Honestly, when it comes to readers (or any mark system), the best design is the one that you create.
Thank you for the reply!
You could also set the two up low and high. So you can pull all 4 cards from one pocket. If you needed say all 4 queens and don’t want to go into 2 separate indexes.
more views if you start into the trick sooner instead of talking so long.. losing views from long intro
@@MedicareMark this is a strange channel. I'm not after growth or views. The long intro is a powerful security feature!
Thanks Carl, great lesson!
Thank you.
Beautiful card work!
😊👍👍👍👍😊
I love all your videos Carl, but admit it, this one is a bit of a cop out. I'm here all week.
