    It's that time of year again where my obsession with card magic takes root, and your videos and philosophical knowledge of the subject is always a welcomed inspiration. Pay no attention to the haters and trolls. While you may call yourself The Common Magician.. your encyclopedic understanding and application of said topics and techniques are anything but "common". You are a modern Expert At The Card Table, even if you're too humble to think that's the case..

I'm not surprised at your elegant rebuttal and perfectly timed reveal! Which has also served to make me want to revisit your video on the table wash! Kudos and keep up the great work.

    So where do you get a thick “slug “ card ? It’s got to match deck right?

    • @thecommonmagician
      @thecommonmagician 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You can make a double think card by rubber cementing 2 cards together. Many decks come with an advertising card that has a matching back design. Glue this to the back of a joker and you have a double thick card. Alternatively, take a spare card from an older deck with a matching back and glue it to the joker (or any other card) from the deck in use.

    I think I could do one of these techniques -- the wonderfully deceptive keep-a-finger-on-your-card-at-all-times wash. How does jason spin a coin over a washed deck and the coin falls on the chosen card?

    • @thecommonmagician
      @thecommonmagician 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @larryfriedlander7000 well, either... - he controls the spin to land on a force (he has practiced spinning over an arrangement of cards to have some control) - the spin is random, but the outcome is somehow rigged with multiple outs - he knows the target and he does only a few takes until he hits it - magic ...among other possibilities.

    I've been studying card magic for more than a decade now. Thousands of videos on TH-cam plus paid content from some of the most prominent artists out there. Just recently I bumped into this channel by chance, and I have to say Carl - the way you handle these topics with your personal thoughts and discussions is by far the best videos I've seen yet. A very excited thumb up from me. Please keep up your excellent work, and if you ask me - I vote for a playlist with Automatic Placement content. I find this topic extremely hot right now.

    Another indispensable video Carl. Thank you. On the subject of the 21 Card Trick a version Bill Malone performs is a thing of beauty. A great way to fool people who have seen the original procedural trick and think they know how that trick works.

      @thecommonmagician 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @terryfletcher4717 I'll have to check out Malone's. Harry Anderson had a version for magicians as well where the performer does all of the wrong procedure and names the card anyway. I seem to recall that his worked on a well-timed peek 🤣

    I love this channel. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. ❤ 🤜🤛 One placement that is used very little is think of a number between 1-10. Remember the card at your number without reversing their order. Cut all 10 to the bottom. After false cuts say it's highly unlikely I could cut your card back to its orginal position. Ask for their number, then deal down to show the card is no longer there. Place the packet on the bottom and now the "thought of card" is automatically 11th from bottom.
