Tim Wilson - The Driver's License Story (Live on Bob & Tom)
Bryan, who finished 2nd, had a broken rear shock absorber and a broken throttle spring. He had to lift the throttle peddle with his toe. Because of the broken shock, Bryan spent several days in the hospital after the race.
Back in those day women used to set up brothels in the infield.....a money making business.
Hilarious Tim Wilson Gold. Gone way too damn soon. RIP Tim
Tim Wilson: Such a great guy Bob & Tom: Such a couple of jerks
Sad that 2 of those people are gone.
I wish I had the mute button for Bob and Tom's microphones. I would never stop pushing it. They just can't shut up and quit ruining Tim's story.
They can’t shut up
Exactly!!! I loved Tim (RIP) but those other two idiots can't shut up. They are like drama queens fighting for all the attention.
Right, Bob & Tom are insufferable & funny as hepatitis
This song, and video was a milestone , hit it like a hammer to a nail. Seriously.
The drinking age should be 18. If you're old enough to sign a contract, join the army or be sentenced to 20 years, you should be able to legally drink a beer. But the voting age should be 48.
Tommy Smothers was sitting alone in one of the big, comfy chairs in the lobby of the Eugene Hilton, where I was working at the bell desk, probably 1997. When the two pilots and two flight attendants scheduled for the airport arrived, we loaded up and departed, at oh-dark-thirty in the morning. Tom's brother, Dick, was staying with us, but he apparently had other travel arrangements. Tom took the passenger seat and spoke not a word. The flight crew chatted amongst themselves in the two rear bench seats. None of them noticed that they were sharing their hotel shuttle van with Tommy Smothers. When we arrived curbside at the Eugene Airport twenty minutes later, I unloaded the crew's luggage, they each handed me the customary buck and walked away, pulling their roller boards, still completely oblivious, unaware of their brush with one of the most famous comedians of our age. My father had three Smothers Brothers comedy albums, and I heard them so many times that I had them memorized. I unloaded Tommy's suitcase to the curb, and as he pulled out a generous tip, I softly sang the punchline from "The Troubador Song": ♫♪ When there's two in the bush ♪♫ ♪♫ there's a bird up your tree ♪♫♪ - and then he joined me in singing the repeated last line - ♪♫ bird up your tree! ♪♫♪
What a great memory! Thanks for posting it!
I just started listening to the album after hearing about Tom’s passing. My grandmother really loved them. RIP 😢
Tom plugged this album on the 10/6/68 episode.
We had this record growing up and I wore it out listening to it. Thank you SO SO much for posting this. This has given me l some much needed laughs since I found it. ❤
Best Comedian Ever to Grace this Earth
I never met Tim Wilson, but my heart has been heavy since his passing. 💔
Whoever Edited this Video is an Absolute Genius... ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐'s
World was a much better place with him that is without
Does someone know the track between 2:12 and 2:14? Racing between pillars is something I have never seen....
R.I.P. Tim Wilson
They had the pedal to the medal, almost blind the entire time..just nuts.
So, 1913 winner drank 4 bottles of champagne?
Turtle neck! He,s a 60,s dude!!!
1st Race at the Indianapolis moter speedway? ..Motercycles
My older sister won this album when she was the third caller to a radio station when we were kids.(in the 70's). I've never forgotten it! Thanks for sharing it so that I could revisit it!
Great memory!
Great share 😍 born in 1986
Great song and video montage. Glad we have OSHA now!
Safety third.
Terrible music though.
Hi Patrick. Sorry to not be commenting on this video (although it's a great video!). My question is actually on your Jim Gordon playlist which is incredible! First, Thank you for making the list. He is a hero of mine and my Dad was friends with his mentor of sorts Hal Blaine, who was also a phenomenal drummer who played on hundreds of hits form the 60's to the 80's. Second, What prompted you to make this incredible playlist? Just curious. I am sure you know of Jim's very sad life after music. It is truly heart breaking. Thanks again for the great playlist!
Hello, that playlist is actually a copy of someone else's from Spotify, but because I am not a subscriber to their services, I copied it to listen to on TH-cam. I am glad you like it none the less. I am a huge admirer of the Wrecking Crew and the music of that era.
Maravilhoso! Obrigada 😊
Amazing video capturing the crowd feeling. Helio is a legend!
Nothing like the sound of a roadster at indy !!!
A winning time of 4 hours and 17 minutes - that's a long stint by anyone's reckoning.
The commentators seem obsessed with Mauri Rose. Rose did NOT win in 1939. Wilbur Shaw won. Rose had a shared victory in 1941 with Floyd Davis. And he stole the 1948 race from Bill Holland which got him kicked off the Lou Moore team..
Distorted, stretched wide image. Also, could you make the watermark bigger? I can still see around it.
Sorry boss, this video is, like, 11 years old and wasn't mine to start with. Unless that's sarcasm, then yeah I'll see what I can do.
Red Flag for a clear track? Even the flags were different back then
I marmon wasp. Thank you
Lets get sh*t faced and drive fast and wreckless! It’s like a dream come true if only I would’ve lived in that magical era….2022 sucks so bad
I can't get over that thing was AWD
"Emergency squad" = 2 guys and a stretcher. lol
As I understand it, the superior performance of the car was due just as much to the four wheel drive, than the turbine engine. Superior corner handling.
The front end of the winner’s car has a front end fin that reminds me of Mario Andretti’s 1967 car.
Watching Cantlon the way he smacked the wall, the Hans Device may have saved his life had one been available then.
A hilarious ending.
...🏎
Useless video.
“Watch em go!!!” 🎶🎶 “Now he’s dead!!” 🎶🎶🎶🎶 Whoo hooo!!! 🎶🎶🎶🎶🏁
Not too much worry then about 1 or 2 fatalities in a race....
Haroon Shahid: I should use a mirror instead of a human to watch for passing cars. Indy 500: Riding mechanic Dies, Haroon wins with mirror Also Indy 500: Riding mechanics are now mandatory
Don't ya love it when people who don't even do your work tell you how you have to do your work? Yeah. I've quit a few jobs.
I would imagine the thinking was similar to Brabham being asked to withdraw their fan car many decades later; the design was so much faster that every other team would have to copy it at great expense to have any chance of being competitive. Haroon got the last laugh anyway as within a few years his idea was indeed being copied by everyone.
"Turb'n"
Naturally after WWII they were called "hot dogs"
Damn, so death was just part of the spectacle huh
Back then it definitely was. Safety wasn’t something anyone thought about- it was accepted to be dangerous. Thankfully that mentality is gone.
