This museum has taken 3 exhibits from the NRM in the past four years, one of which is L&YR Class 5 No. 1008. That was one of my favourite locos in the museum, as it was a unique design, and I felt a personal connection as prior to withdrawal it worked in the town I grew up in. I’m gutted that I probably won’t see it again, or at least not for a long time.
They told me it will be there for 3yrs

Good to see that they have a few bits of fire kit (uniform) on display. The kit they currently wear is unique to this brigade, when many UK brigades now have highly standardised clothing. Not all of the helmets and clothing I saw became standard issue for Manchester, even though they might have been used in trials.
Coming from Saddleworth I like this, but it should be titled Greenfield and Uppermill, Saddleworth
