SWRD #3: Improving transitions on auxdisplay
(reupload due to a blooper)
Just wanted to post a quick update on this small project. I've added swipe actions that overwrite the text on the fly. This appears usable for intended purpose of swiftly switching menu screens.

HWRD #9: Casio PB 2000C Display Catastrophe
Welp, the problem was bigger than I thought. As we see the blob is actually not where we thought it was! There is also damage to heat seal in several places that compels me to completely strip the assembly. Will this ever be salvageable? It is certainly one of the worst case scenarios one encounters in repair… However this is how it is when you film the ongoing work rather than complete series....
SWRD #2: Auxdisplay effects in Common Lisp
In this episode we code a few simple effects for alphanumeric 4x20 LCD in Common Lisp. The display is to be further used in a jog wheel controlled menu tree. The project is available at github.com/varjagg/menuett
HWRD #8: First look at Model 35B Tape Typing Unit
We take first look at Teletype Corporation Model 35B Tape Typing Unit. This is an ASCII machine that prints on a 1 inch roll tape, and is based on Teletype Typing Reperforator units (LPR).
HWRD #7: Examining continuous signal with HP 53310A
A short video to demonstrate how signal analysis can be done on sine signal sources. With an inexpensive arb generator on the input of 53310A we can clearly see the limitations and peculiarities of the source.
SWRD #1: Distributed system coherence measurement using HP 53310A
In this video we measure the coherence of a distributed soft real-time software system synchronized over Precision Time Protocol. Two terminal devices are connected over the network to a central. The central generates synchronous commands to both units which are executed on the basis of PTP-synchronized local clocks. The Hewlett-Packard 53310A Modulation Domain Analyzer allows quick and conveni...
HWRD #6: HP53310A runs again
A quick update on this project. The recapped supply has to be put aside as it appears to have undiagnosed damage on one of its power rails. The unit is brought back to life with a substitute PSU, presumably from a decade later when Hewlett-Packard transitioned to Agilent. Anticlimactic I know but that's the drawback of making the videos in sync with project flow rather than producing them upon ...
HWRD #5: Casio PB-2000C disassembly and cleaning
In this episode we further disassemble Casio PB-2000C pocket computer. We also give it a thorough wash in alcohol and restore the thread insert after the extracted damaged M1.6 screw.
HWRD #4: Casio PB-2000C is unstuck
The second instalment of our Casio pocket computer epic where we attempt to remove the stuck screw on the cover and see if we can get the thing to boot up.
HWRD #3: First look at Casio PB-2000C
We have a first look at a Casio PB-2000C personal computer bought AS-IS over the net. This is a sibling system to a much rarer, Japanese market only Lisp programmable AI-1000. It's not like am too short of ongoing restoration projects, but my hope for this to be the fist part of restoration videos. Although one should certainly not expect @atkelar level refurbishment here, I'll do my best to ge...
HWRD #2: HP 53310A MDA Repair
In this video we examine power supply failure of a Hewlett-Packard 53310A Modulation Domain Analyzer. The 53310A can be thought of as a versatile counter for measuring jitter and other signal qualities in frequency vs time domain, either from one source or for intervals between multiples. It can be very useful in real time systems development that we could hopefully see once the instrument is r...
HWRD #1: Black ink, Red printer
First look, tests and initial repair for the Soviet МС6312 inkjet printer. We look into the power supply fault and fix one of the flex cables. The printer is "inspired" by Kodak Diconix 150 although is not an exact copy electronically or mechanically. HWRD #0: Meet the Spectrumstein
In this video we explore an eclectic Soviet-era homebrew 8-bit computer. The system is based off a Sinclair ZX Spectrum clone, with bits and pieces from ES series computers and improvised auxiliary circuits.
Fascinating! It feels like so much knowledge that was locked away from us is now freely available thanks to digital archeology. Thank you for showing EURISKO in operation.
Thank you for sharing this! I am looking forward to seeing it in operation. All of the post-Soviet Russia personal computing history you shared is very interesting as well.
Thanks! This one is Belarusian but it was then all similar for years across the neighboring states.
