    I would've asked her what time of day she goes to do her crossfit workouts. Her job does require holding her arms up for long periods, and often at awkward positions. So if she is going to workout right after working, it is possible she is going into her workouts with her shoulders already exhausted. That will make it challenging to perform exercises involving her arms properly. She did say, she works long hours, so she might be going on her day off, but we never know unless we ask hahaha. What I've seen in my experience, and have heard from other PTs is that there are a lot of crossfit coaches who push clients into doing exercises that their body isn't ready for. The two most common I've heard are 1. the person doesn't have the mobility within a specific joint to properly perform the exercise. The most common one is they will have clients performing heavy deep squats when the person doesn't even have the dorsiflexion to get there, so their body compensates. 2. the person is given an exercise that is far too advanced. I tell people all the time that just because your body can physically lift it, does not mean your body can physically handle it, and of course that is how people get hurt either at that moment or overtime. Also working out through fatigue to the point they can't even hold the proper position during the exercise. What platform are you using to do the video sessions? How do you send the intake and consent forms to your patients?

    • @morganmeese
      @morganmeese 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the clinical insight. I'm sure it will be helpful for other viewers to read through. I use Google Meet typically, but another one I would recommend is Doxy.me. I send my forms using Google Forms now, but I used to use IntakeQ.

    Thank you for spreading awareness about FND. The patient community is in desperate need for more FND aware physio therapists. Thank you Zach for jumping into the deep end to help a patient population that has too often been dismissed and mistreated because of misinformation. Thank you for treating FND patients with respect and dignity, and for being an ally when so many have turned their backs, leaving patients to fend for themselves while dealing with severe disability. Physio has an important role to play in the treatment of FND and we hope more physio therapists will have your courage and determination. All the best to you.

      I'm thinking about doing an updated series on this ... I have a playlist on my channel that's a collection of previous videos on telehealth I've done if you want to check it out! I'm not fully remote anymore, but during Covid, I was. What I had setup before was basically pay-per-visit, similar to the in-person model. For many of my athletes, each follow up was almost a reassessment in a way where we would retest problematic movements and go over any questions they had on their rehab program. I use TrueCoach to deliver programming. Are you starting a fully remote practice?

    For tax purposes, do most private practice owners prefer to spend the generated revenue on writing off certain expenses, such as the maintenace for the home office, wifi, part of the utulity bills and other related expenses?

    • @morganmeese
      @morganmeese 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Are you asking if private practice owners prefer to expense what they can under their business vs paying for those items personally? Just want to clarify. If so, then yes, there are a lot of expenses that might overlap between your business and your personal expenses and whatever qualifies as a business expense, most business owners will expense that to their business. But let me know if you're asking something different and I misunderstood. So I'm almost 100% certain that the owner of a PT business does not have to be a licensed physical therapist, but rather that there needs to be a licensed physical therapist overseeing care, and any caregivers will need relevant licenses. Is this not the case? Documentation/links?

    • @morganmeese
      @morganmeese 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Most of the people I work with to help them grow their businesses are both the clinician & the business owner themselves, so I think that might be where the confusion is -- to my knowledge, whoever owns the business does not need a clinical license, but whoever is practicing clinically does need a license in order to offer clinical services. So in the videos if I say "you" need a license, it's because I'm speaking to the clinician. Hope that clears it up.

    What do you mean base the price on the result the customer is going to get versus your hourly rate? Can you expand on that?

    • @morganmeese
      @morganmeese ปีที่แล้ว

      Another way to look at pricing that people sometimes do is the price of your services vs the total cost both in money and time of not fixing the problem. The cost of physical therapy now is x, while the cost of potential doctor's visits, medications, injections, surgery, etc is y. Theoretically, PT will save you money in the long run and that's part of the value as well. You can also put value on convenience working with a private practitioner vs a clinician in a big box clinic.

    Some odd reason this popped up in my feed from your channel but what you said there is so true. I recently started taking a class to try to get into industrial maintenance. My first class I ended up having to talk with the instructor and another school official because they told me start from the beginning. Keep in mind it's a different type of class where people that already have experience in the field coming into the lab and so it's kind of like the teacher is teaching people of all levels. William completely new to it all. I knew deep down that I just wanted to learn a skill and that my heart wasn't fully in it. As you said I just seen the job postings online in my area where they were paying $30 plus an hour with some sign-on bonuses. But once I got to that class and realize that it was going to be brutal to try to learn that stuff from the ground up in my second class I just got up and walked to the office and filled out a drop form.I'm putting this to rest. I have been on this kick for trying to learn maintenance for years because my school doesn't really offer much else for me to choose from so I just want to pick something to go with. I had to get away from that. Now I'm going to explore other options. You're right about growing a business and if it's really a priority to a person. If they want that business to thrive and really get the greatness out of it that they see on the outside than they're going to have to get down and crush it during the bad times. My dentist on the practice and told me that sometimes he comes in on major holidays like Thanksgiving. He doesn't see patients on that day but he still comes in to get work done. That's someone that wants it.

    My cousins father is a physical therapist. I guess he started working under someone when he got out of school. Well he didn't like it very much and him and another guy went into business together. Said it was the best choice he ever made. That same location for as long as I can remember. More and more everyday, I'm starting to realize that working for yourself is the best choice if you can make it work.

      It might end up taking everything that you have, but it will end up giving you back everything you could ever want and more if you let it.

    Hi is it possible to do a video on how to regulate a script itself. As in the company gave u a script to read but I get nervous and end up mispronouncing words and even numbers!!! I'm worried I won't be good at my job is there any help for this?

      Hey Amelia! I know how nerve-wracking that can be. What kind of job is it? Do you have to stick exactly to the script or are you allowed to change things up a little bit?

    Hi, so so so glad to have come across this video. What are the requirements and ethical needs to be met to start a practice at home/garage.

      What are your concerns with ethics? Before you start working from your home/garage, you should contact your city hall to ask about the requirements of operating a home-based business and what might be required.

    this excel sheet is extremely helpful...What types of services besides traditional therapy do you market in order to increase the value to the patient? My estimated avg price for the money I want to make is $300 per visit at 2x/wk for a 3 month POC...I am not sure how to sell it to be valuable enough for someone to pay that....I was nervous trying to sell at $150 a visit lol.

      Hey Emily! Glad the spreadsheet is helpful. There's definitely a lot that goes into this, and one thing I would encourage you to think about is if a 3 month POC with 2x/wk sessions will be clinically necessary for every patient. The value is going to be in being able to deliver the results the client is looking for and helping them solve their problem. Provide value to the patient by doing this, don't worry about trying to be fancy and offer all kinds of additional flashy services. Get good at what you do first, and then you can add additional things. You can also totally look at the $300 per visit as a goal, and start with a number you can confidently say to a patient.
