I Gained Extra Counter Top Space With This DIY Noodle Board
มุมมอง 11K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Noodle boards are a great decorative addition to add to your kitchen. A noodle board is a board that sits over your stovetop range when the stovetop is not in use. It's intended to be used as not only an extension of your kitchen counter top, but also used as a decorative item that covers the stovetop when it is not in use. In this video, I will show and explain how I make my noodle boards. It ...

@smeg8557 th-cam.com/video/UNX-KLaAZp8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Ko6-HNXmplWKi0hx This may help-around 3:00 into the video he gives a tip regarding joining edges, important because your saw blade may not be exactly squared. Also, when you clamp try not to clamp with a lot of force, and alternate the clamp bars on top and bottom of the work piece, this will help evenly distribute the clamping pressure so that it doesn't turn into a smile.
Can this be done with pressure treated wood. Im doing a project trying to use all old materials i got but the wood is old pressure treated boards
@maddmavic i am not sure but I wouldn't do it. Those boards are chemically treated
Really helpful video. I especially like that you mentioned the difference between the type 1 and type 12 submodels.
Amazon has the DW735X for sale at $599 as of 11/24/2024,
@johnvanderhoof1248 nice thanks for sharing! I've pinned this comment for everyone to see
I must ask, are you related to Mr. Haney of Green Acers? He loved to "age" furniture. 😂
I knew that sooner or later someone would figure that out 🤣
Great review, very helpful and informative!
@@BeesyWoodCo. thanks, I am glad that you found it helpful!
Do the blades need to be adjusted to plane level?
I've watched a couple of your videos and the information has been very helpful. But even more outstanding is your presentation style, it should be the standard for instructional videos. You have a very even tone which is clear and concise. Just the right amount of information. I've watched hundreds of other videos, they should copy your style.
@garylee2731 hey thanks man, appreciate that!
Of course you wouldn’t find th colors and dye at hardware stores… you might want to try art supply stores or a beauty supply stores.
Shouldn't stain be added after all the burning considering the fumes from burning the chemicals you just applied to the wood?
Correct, you would burn then apply stain.
Thanks for recommending other sources for more info and techniques.
@hegmonster thanks for watching!
Dumb question but can I use spar urethane instead of poly on top of the stain if I do this method?
@ericg5877 i have no no issues using an oil based urethane over water based stain/dye. Just make sure you let stain completely dry.
How heavy is it?
Not heavy at all, maybe 5 or 10 lbs. Made from pine.
Great tips for your minor sauce stations. Keep up the good work.

If I make a pool pump cover for outside how can I protect it from weather
I would use some exterior grade polyurethane
you're my man! excellent and exactly the info to make changes to my kitchen!
I appreciate that!
Any thoughts on pressure washing wood first? I know that always breaks away softer material.
I have actually done this on bigger projects and it works well if you are going for a extremely weathered look.
Great tutorial. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful! Thank you for your video! 😍🙏🎨
Thank you! Cheers!
Give shit fuck on me
Thanks, easy too follow instructions
I am glad that it helped!
Use a watered down acrylic paint (10-20 parts water to paint ratio) and brush that heavily into your pre-damaged wood, and allow it to soak in. I typically use a blend of black, white, brown, and a touch of green or even purple, which gives the wood a nice weather gray look that soaks deeply into the wood. Don't wipe it off either. Just alllow it to penetrate and let the wood absorb all of that moisture on its own. It'll look 200 years old, and sanding it doesn't usually remove any of the color afterwards, because it penetrates down about 1/4 inch. Warmer water will allow the color to penetrate deeper.
Mix all the paint colors together 1:1 ratio?
@@weigandworks6151 You'll get black.
Thank you for sharing!
*Keda Dye = uber expensive* -.-
Hi! What would you recommend instead?
@@vincent2116-c3g I am not an expert, but I am pretty much happy with CYKO spirit dyes. Rustins spirit dye is on its way to be tested soon
I will have to try this, thanks
What about grinding it, burning it, damaging it and then stain? Have you tried that combination yet, and if so, did you like the results? You do impressive work!
I have a video on burning and staining. The results were great. Thanks!
Thanks a lot for sharing man!!! Super helpful review,.. I think this will be my first planer. Cheers from Alberta - Canada!!!
Hope you enjoy it!
*Oh no, hipster slang! lol* The Japanese didn't invent it or even name it, we've been doing it in the West for thousands of years, not just centuries. This was a tactic empires once used for forts, ships, castles; you name it. Anyway, I am considering scorching before color dying rather than first dying with black, sanding it out and then using color dye.
What Red did you use ?
Keda liquid dye - crimson red
I just got a craftsman old planer..new to using any planer & having a difficult time on planer uses of my planer style.
Which craftsman planer?
Hi will it work on mahogany wood will it have a nice burnt pattern I'm looking at doing this to a guitar body but it's mahogany ???
Great question, haven't tried mahogany. Would be curious to see.
I just got this planer recently and ran across videos suggesting to get a helical head. Would you suggest to replace it while machine is new and I can sell head and knives?
You will get great results and the machine will be slightly quieter. I am thinking about doing the same because the you don't have to replace the knives as often. I plan on doing a video on the replacement in the near future
this is the beginning of reclaiming my manhood lmao
Nice!
Hey, I've owned this tool for perhaps 5 years now. Terrific review. You captured the pros and cons really well. I haven't had the problems you've experienced with the baseplate or rollers so on that I'll just count myself lucky. Great video. Well done. For good content. Good production. And sound advice, I've subscribed.
Thank you! I ended up making an extended infeed/outfeed board using 3/4 mdf. Also helps reduce snipe if you take light passes.
Which paints did you use? Acrylic, chalk, or some other type?
I used all stain on this project, no paints.
Probably a very dumb question but Im new to this, can you stain first then burn and sand or does it not run out well or at all?
Not a dumb question, and I would recommend burning then staining afterwards.
Love Menards 😊
Same!
Young man your work is second to none May God continue to bless you and your work, Family.
Thank you, and God bless you and your family too
What are you using to blend the stain in?
Just blending the colors together with brush techniques
Great video, thanks for sharing. Can this be used on old gun stocks?
Thanks! I would imagine so, the finished appearance would depend on the wood and grain just keep that in mind
What blow torch do you use ?
Just a coleman propane bottle with a normal torch tip that you can get at any home improvement store
This man is damn smart, good video.
Thank you and glad you enjoyed

What kind and thickness of wood did you use to make your doors?
I custom ordered the doors. Being that I only needed 2 of them it made more sense then to purchase and mill the wood down, and make them.
Great video. Straight to the point. Well done
Thank you I am glad that you enjoyed
I love the purple. I would love to do my deck in this!
That would be really cool
Awesome video! Wondering how you painted your doors/fronts and where you got them?
I ordered them doors online from cabinet world, and painted with rustoleum white primer/paint along with aerosol polyurethane as a top coat
