Brushing 2 coats of gelatin - just gelatin from the grocery store - on the paper will do the same thing for way less money.

It's a good idea with any old watercolour paper to put a wash of clean water over it a while before you paint on it to see if it has any rough patches. Nothing worse than spending hours on a drawing just to put the first wash on and find the sizing isn't up to the job. I've just done that.
