Smooth and steady.. Drove 24 mainly wet laps in April with the R8.. Loads of fun eh !
Wow
Lovely sound!!
Fantastic bit of footage
Hello Dean, Very nice driving ! I’m the owner of a Yaris GR too, and i noticed that you used a personnalized interface on the display unit. Which soft and equipment allow you this ? I’d like to do the same ! Kind regards and keep on racing like this, the little Yaris is an outstanding weapon on track… Patrice, Cannes, France
Great lap mate. Nice Driving.
is that thing stock? My lord, it sounds like its consuming ALL the air in that engine bay! Nice driving, crazy little car.
Stock engine and intake yes. Just handling, safety and cooling mods really.
Awesome stuff!
how is your phone mounted though?
A Brodit mount
Those are miles per hour on the speedo, innit?
Yes MPH @@lehberger6828
How did you mount the camera & were they OK with the phone where it was? MSV wouldn’t let me on to the track at Brands with a similar phone mount!
The camera is on the cage. Never had an issue with the phone mount.
Do you have a Miltek on? Thinking of doing Bedford this year but wasn't sure if the car would be too loud?
Not a Milltek no but I do have a custom 3" exhaust but with much bigger silencers than a miltek, especially a non Res. Mine was 89 static
A nice smooth drive in a wonderful friend
Is your tuned? If not, does it feel like you it needs a reflashed or a custom tune for more POWAA?
Standard other than the exhaust. 400bhp would be a nicer number for the big and fast tracks.
@@deanoc I see. I believe you gonna need some hardware change for that 400bhp. A custom tune with stock part can get you 300-310bhp and 400 something nm. What do you think about that?
@@christmasisawesome9348 correct. They are 280-290 out of the box. 300 with an exhaust / tune / box. 400bhp is standalone ECU and some cams and springs. I'd not get a tuned OEM ECU yet, I just don't think enough time has passed for anyone to have really sussed it out.
you've been asked this before but how do you manage to get those gauges on your screen? i also have a yaris and i'd like to see whats going on during track time, i'm new to cars so for me it seems kind of complicated. is there a guide or video link you can share?
Nice drive m8
Is there a different between the PDK on the S and GTS? Maybe I’m alone in this but the GTS seems to shift faster?
It's the same but sport chrono settings makes a big difference. Same with PSE
Honda didn't do too badly!
That EP3 is legendary amongst my group of track day friends. Not the owner driving it here, he goes much quicker!
Nice setup. Was that another Yaris behind you? It also looks like a GT-R at first 👍
Yes it was my friend in a GR
Nice lap! Can I ask how you got that info on the screen and which phone mount you are using?
Thanks. It's OBD2AA, torque pro, AA wireless and a rooted phone. Phone mount is a brodit.
Nice one. See you fixed your cracked windscreen. What tyres and wheelsize do you find best for track cheers alan.
For ouright grip a 255/35 on a 9j is a good fit. It can be fun to run smaller though and move the car around a bit more
@@deanoc thanks mate. One last thing if you dont mind. Where is best place for tpms sensors. And what make. Many thanks
@@alansilver3482 I have the AliExpress ones in one set but my fave option is autel ones which you clone so there is no faffing about relearning when you swap wheels.
@@deanoc as usual thanks for reply. If you ever do indy circuit ar brands let me know. Also love to know your time around there.
Why..??
what you wanna show with that video ?
Lots of spins on a limit handling day.....
Now that looks fun poor tyres tho
I've got a gr yaris too, I wonder if somebody will make a hardcore aero kit for them and take one hill-climbing
It certainly needs some help in that department. Soft suspension and aerodynamic of a shoe box make fast corners entertaining
It's amazing how quick a Yaris is now, just took my mk1 T sport round here and it was no where near as quick as this 🤣 great driving dude!
Thanks! Great little cars those. I was tempted to buy fensports one a little while ago
Do you have a full mod list somewhere?
It's a long read but you can see what I've been up to here www.gr-yaris.co.uk/forum/threads/deanos-b-road-blaster-and-track-day-warrior.1421/
I love you
Neither are anywhere near pushing them cars. Way more potential in the yaris
Well cheers. Was trying pretty hard 😭
@@deanoc apologies, wasn't meant as an insult. Practice makes perfect!
@@alistairmccabe7028 it's ok. I don't take anything on the internet seriously. I've done some good times in the UK for what it is but Spa was a bit full on with the roll, blanchimont and Eau Rouge were properly frightening
@@deanoc Just enjoy yourself, that's the ultimate thing! I'm good with real tracks and cars but useless in a go-kart. My son who had never drove a Kart did better than me! 🤣
what app do you use fot screebmirror obd?
Torque pro and OBD2AA
Can you monitor oil pressure as well? With the Syvecs ECU I've noticed many oil pressure drops (down to 1.7bar) during hard braking.
Hi, not with this setup but I have data logged with techstream. I noticed the same but run with 0.5l overfill and it has not done it once since
Hi dean. Enjoying your videos. Thinking of td tuning box for my GR . What do you think. Worth it. Will it affect reliability. ?
Thanks. I like it. It's pretty minor in the grand scheme of things but logic dictates more boost and more power means more stress and wear. I service it every 3k though
@@deanoc thanks dean. Enjoyed your spa video recently. Thanks
Awesome track…. What was the silver bmw that blasted past the pair of you 💨
A 3 series compact! God knows on the spec but the driver was committed!
…. Or needs committing
Very nice. See you got your crack done. Any idea why they are prone to cracking ?
Not sure you know. Always seems to be little chips at the base. Probably just thin and on a stiff body
What app are you using and how to connect it to your display for all the extra gauges?
OBDLink adapter, torque pro app and OBD2AA app for Android auto
@@deanoc did you need to root the phone?
@@gpajic1987 no
Wicked footage bro
Big boy pants at Spa, especially in the Yaris that is rolling around like mad
It’s a very fast track looked wicked tho
great, keep it up !
Nice video Dean. Another cracked screen. Is there a fix for that! Also your display looks like gauges on it. Or am I seeing things
Yes fixed now thankfully. Took 12 weeks! Yes I managed to figure out how to get Torque Pro OBD data over android auto
Thanks for reply. We are local. I have spoken on forum with you. Keep up good work. Now subscribed to you. Any thoughts on best rims. I think it could do with a bit more rubber. Arches don't look filled.
@@alansilver3482 I'm a big braid fan.
Sorry to bother you again. What obd Bluetooth connector do you recommend thanks
@@alansilver3482 obd link
Pretty tough life and 2 big cracks already👍
Yes 1000 miles around Scotland sorted the screen and front bumper out!
hi what trackday ? what tires ? Rgs
It was with circuitdays. MPS4S tyres
@@deanoc thanks enjoy yr Cayman rgs from Belgium 🇧🇪
What are your thoughts on the GR compared to the Cayman?
A really different experience. The Cayman is a more emotive drive and takes more skill to drive quickly but it's the standard process of brake in a straight line, turn, hit apex, straighten up, accelerate on every corner. The Yaris has endlessly more grip and is entertaining in how you can drive it in different ways and really play around mid corner. Dedicated track car it would be the cayman if I had to pick one but the Yaris blows it out of the water on a B road and opens up wet weather stuff
@@deanoc The Yaris certainly looks more playful and does pack a good punch accelerating out of corners too! I do like my Cayman on track but it’s compromised on a b-road with track suspension etc
