I have this issue its the injection wiring loom as the connection on the plug becomes faint due to being sat in hot oil over time at first its intermittent then gets worse however wont throw a cose until its knackered mi e went completely this morning youtube vw injection loom failure hope it helps
Sounds good!
Hi there any modification needed for install on del sol?
Смяна на гумените уплътнения в горивните дюзи решава проблема
My SDI caddy sounds like a bag of nails when cold starting it. I has a sort of knock at idle. After a short drive when the engine is getting warmer, it dissapears and runs smooth. Bought the van a month ago with that noise. No fluid consumption. Engine is healthy and no smoke at the exhaust
Sounds like a duel mass fly wheel that
@@A.S.McCartney or maybe the valve lifter tappets that are worn out. Strangely with operating temp is runs smooth. I need to remove the valve cover and feel if the tappets are easy to push
Injector loom
After scouring the web for answers I think this video may finally be shedding light on the issues with my van. Thank you! I have a VW Caddy 2005, ever since the cold weather kicked in my van has struggled to start and it makes the exact same noise as your van does in this video when trying to start it. Changed the fuel filter the other day and it was black with oil. Going by your experience and the video comments I think it's an injector issue. I can only pray that new seals will be enough to fix the problem.
If the head isn’t worn away that bad new seals will fix it, what I did was throw away the stretch bolts that hold the injector in and get some stronger ones I think that it’s why the issue starts!
Just keep the key turning over to pull fuel up its the injector seals , fuelfalls back over night and on hill also fails to start
Nice work, I’m about to do this job myself, got new bolts but what torque settings did you use for the rocker and injector bolts ? please
having the same issue. Seems to start fine if the temperature is above 5.0 celsius, but cold starts are a real struggle. Mine smokes a fair bit when you hit the accelerator fairly hard. I'm wondering does the engine coolant sensor play a part in all this?
The problem I had was a gap around the injector seals that aloud the Diesel to siphon back to the tank and mix with the oil
@@A.S.McCartney That could be the same issue that I have. Seems to have progressively got worse over the last couple of weeks. Taking it in on Monday to get the seals done. Hopefully that'll resolve the issue. If not then bye bye VW Caddy D:
Bonsoir tous le monde j ai le même problème sur mon véhicule caddy a plat il a du mâle a démarrer le matin à froid par contre si je le positionne sur une légère pente le matin il démarre sans soucis pourriez-vous m aider svp merci à vous cordialement

Just had this problem today mate your diesel if mixed with the oil drain it and put new oil and thank me later
I’m having same problem on my Vw caddy 2.0 sdi, seen few video on TH-cam with this problem not sure is it the fuel pump or injector seals?? Only dose this from cold start. Once car starts it ok. Can any one advise me plz
The injectors rub and where the cylinder head Oval, let’s the Diesel go in to the oil , mine was on for a year after I changed the injector seals and put stronger bolts holding the injector in place
@@A.S.McCartney so it’s the injector seals not the fuel pump in the tank???
@@realtalk6363 ye as long as the cylinder head isn’t oval were the injector seats! Have a look at the fuel filter if its black that’s the problem
@@A.S.McCartney thanks buddy I will do that filter was bad I put a new filter in so has to be injector seal or fuel pump
Same problem in my sdi. But my do not smoke at all?
sounds like fuel pump
Can you make a vlog with it
.....
I have a 1.9 tdi mk5 estate and does the same during start up. Then esp and glow plug light during drive any clue on where to look please
My caddy doing exactly same 2.0 sdi (sluggish diesel injection) did you ever find cause ?
Yes it’s the injector bolts that stretch, then they rub the cylinder head making it hard to seal allowing diesel in to the sump and oil in your fuel filter and lets air in that’s why they don’t start
Andrew McCartney cheers Andrew for reply , sounds an expensive job ☹️
Will start but no power
This is due to clogged fuel injectors. Basically crappy fuel poor vehicles services. Once car is started if you were to switch off the car and it starts straight away. Then you ve got same issue I had. Went to garage paid 15 pounds for 2x liqui moly injector cleaner and filled up the tank with normal diesal. Then I had to go the next day on the motorway. Within 15mins of high speed I felt the car juddering then grey black smoke from exhausemt seen.. After that the journey was good. I guess the crap was being cleaned out. It's been atleast 3000k it starts straight away. Injector cleaner fault if no other lights on dash. Plus after starting the car for 1 minute then switch off immediately. If it fails to start may be battery or starter motor but if it starts up on first crank then you know its not battery or starter
sdi
Can anyone help mine does it from cold
Always replace the stretch bolts that hold the injector in! Still no issues with my van and it’s been 4 years
Is thats what the problem was ? Injectors?
I have this problem on a cold start in the morning after that it’s fine should I try replacing the injector seals first?
Captain Wellby any help mine doing it now
@Andrew McCartney, is doing like this at cold also ? or just when the engine is hot ?
I have the same problem. Do you know why it does? What was needed to fix? I'm very interested.
a ford transit connect would solve this problem
hi andrew im starting to have problems with my van starting vw caddy 2.0sdi 2009 and i see u have said that you have replaced the seals how hard was it to do? where abouts in the uk do you live im in east midlands would you be intrested in coming to do mine if your not to far away if not i understand also my next question is did you use and special tools or anything? many thanks carl
I've got this problem with my car. Being told it's the fuel injectors? I have a lot of smoke coming from the exhaust and a bit or misfiring from the engine.. can anyone give me any ideas?
Does anyone know if this is a potential issue with the 1.9 Tdi? I've been having the exact same damn issue for about two weeks.
Bxe are a pita for this, could be your torsion value need set of checked everything else
@@alanlaing673 turns out one injector failed and the injection seals were buggered.
Fuel pump problem
mine's in the garage now waiting for a quote. I know my pants is gonna get pulled down
did you have to replace the bolts is the any how to videos have same problems
went to change my 2.0 sdi injector seals today and found that the head is badly worn which has knackered my injector seals. Van was sold to me a week ago. Gutted
Mine was same I just dude the seals and it fixed if as a head is £1500 it's worth a a go they rub on the side with out the clamp you also have to reset the rocker arms that go to the injectors as these get to much play in them
Hi mate, This is exactly what happens to my Volkswagen golf 2.0 sdi. Is it a common fault with the cars too, what do you think?
shanawaz Hussain and mine any help
I'm having this problem now, I'll be changing injector seals asap. Need this done
I fixed 1 of my friends with the same problem to! Change fuel filter and oil to as you sump fills with diesel
Ok thanks dude.
Andrew McCartney so how do you fix this problem? I have a 2006 caddy 2.0 SDI and is starting hard like this... thank you very much
mine runs for 1 hour then stops 1.9 sdi caddy van
i can send you a photo of it trough whatsapp or is posting picture available on youtube?
It also smokes when sat in traffic that's one of the signs
I changed the seals on the injectors from vw they cost £28 for each injector, now runs sweets as a nut! It's a real common fault I've done same with my friends van also fixed his! Your fuel filter fills with oil and your sump fills with diesel
Found oil in my fuel filter is changing the oil seals a definite fix
Hi andrew I have had mines for a month now 2006 non turbo and does this when cold but with this winter it's getting worse drives fine and no smoke I have had it serviced and glow plugs and filters but hasn't done anything is it injector problem? Thanks
Barry Thomas I’ve same problem mate let me no how you get on , mine was plugged into a vagcom and has shown injector 4 misfire but also been told could be loom , injector seals or early worn cylinder head 😕 but mine also does not smoke and drives totally fine when running , only other it does sometimes now and again is the engine can wobble shake on idle 🤷♂️
@andrew mccartney i have the same problem after 125.000 kilometers
Turns out it's the injectors wearing the cylinder head away put new injector seals in it and now runs fine
Had the same problem with mine! I replaced all the injector seals and it now runs sweet as a nut. However I didn't replace the stretch bolts..
jack westhead was yours having same problem with starting like this ? Just thinking of attempting to do seals with new stretch bolts 🤷♂️
