Galgorm Castle is ever-evolving. The course receives considerable upgrades every year - and has done so for well over a decade - and 2023 is no different. The changes at Galgorm Castle include a new lake and bridge on the 9th, new tees on holes 11, 12, 13 and 14, vegetation clearance on 11 and 13 to show off the river (right next to the tees), and a new green on 14, which wraps around a bunker....

Designed by Jack Nicklaus, Monte Rei is regularly ranked the best course in Portugal. The attention to detail is phenomenal and customer service is off the charts. The golf's pretty damn good, too.

Played this 27-hole Robert Trent Jones Senior design in January 2020. Some stunning views from the clubhouse and two of the nines tumble downhill from the clubhouse towards the Atlantic.

Thanks again. Almost the route I had planned in 2020. Good to see some video of the smaller less well know courses.
Delighted it was helpful. I also love Alness and especially Boat of Garten (north and south of Inverness, respectively). And don't be suckered into the Glenmorangie distillery tour... the Balblair distillery is more interesting and less 'commercial'.

I was lucky enough to play all 27 holes on September 10, 2023, an absolute 10 of a day. I played the Hackett Course on September 30, 2015, another perfect day. It's beyond awesome. I have a copy of your book Mr. Markham. It's very informative. I've already got my ticket for my ninth trip back to Ireland. County Kerry in June of 2024. I don't take it for granted. Best place on Planet Earth.

I will play this course before I die.
We were there this summer (2023) and played 4 days in a row. That way we can remember it better. We were the first ones off everyday around 730. course does not get busy until 930. Its a special course. Wild, raw and beautiful. This should be a bucketlist course for every golfer.
Can’t beat an early morning start. The peace and quiet are glorious.

Great video Kevin, and your photo of the par 3 14th on the WAD course is one of my absolute favourites. I’m heading to Carne from London next week for the first time in a few years and wondered if you had any particular spots on the course either at sunset (or sunrise as well I guess!) where you think the light is particularly good for photos. Thanks, Tom
Enjoy, Tom. Fingers crossed for you for the weather! Sunset: try that par-3 14th from around the tee, or the 17th (old 17th) from behind the green, up on the dune, facing out to sea. Sunrise: from the top of the dune on the right side of the 18th fairway (just before the huge chasm) shoot towards the 12th green - there could be some gorgeous shadows across the fairway. Alternatively, still on the 18th but on the left hand side and back towards the tee, look across at the 1st and 13th greens with big dunes behind both. Good luck
Beautiful course . I only wish that more tourist and golfers could make it to co Mayo and all it has to offer . Apart from Westport not one signpost on the road from Dublin to Belmullet, Ballina etc.

This is the best look at Carne that I've seen on TH-cam. Two years ago, with a 3+ club wind behind us, my friend aced #10 and I made a 5 ft putt for birdie. The tee was up that day and I hit a 9 iron onto the green. The next time I played that hole, there was a similar wind, but in my face, and the tee was back. I hit driver and came up short of the green. Great hole. Great course.
I had a very similar experience on the par-3 4th, down by the sea. The wind that is... not the ace or the birdie!
@@kevinmarkhamgolf3889 Trust me, I haven't seen a lot of birdies while playing at Carne, but I have seen a lot of wind and some rain.
