เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 8 เม.ย. 2015
I (Blake Wyland) have been the host of The Tone Mob Podcast since 2015, making it the longest running, interview style guitar podcast in the world.
After producing hundreds of hours of audio interviews and thousands of individual pieces of content for Instagram and other social media platforms, I decided to put my toe in the TH-cam waters along with my fellow guitar content creators.
On this channel you can expect video interviews with folks from the guitar world, news updates, effects pedal demos, original music, livestreams and a whole lot more.

I agree. I love the Smash Box
How many monkeys does Fender have?
An estimated 3000 employees. I’m guessing at least 4 are of the primate variety.
Yes, Nashville needs another guitar store. There are only a handful of places that have decent gear. It’s a music town. It should have a dozen good shops.
The more the better! 🎉
You know when you've listened to Delilah on the radio forever, then finally see a picture of who she is IRL and 🤯? Same same..., only for Blake Wyland! 😂 I'm now refactoring my mental model and will continue to listen (and watch) to fill in the picture. You do a great job. Thanks! 🙏❤
I’ve gotten that a lot over the years. 😂😂😂 Thanks for listening/watching!
Is there a “boring” purchase that dramatically improved your process?
Yes. They do need another guitar store. My favorite is Carter Vintage. I wish there were more stores like there were in the 80s. I just came back from Japan, and they have guitar stores all over the place. Several next to each other on the same streets. It was epic. I wish it was like that here.
I think everywhere needs another guitar store, but I’m a little biased. (Was that an amp pun? Yes. Yes it was.)
Have you been to Nashville? What are some of your favorite spots?
New stuff? Corner Music. Interesting/weird stuff? Eastside Music. Vintage stuff for real musicians? Carter's. Investment grade blue chip instruments for dentists and lawyers? Gruhn.
First youtube demo playing this pedal the way it was intended. Doesn't sound nearly as bad when you're not playing blues licks on a single coil strat 😂
I actually intended on playing a more typical chuggy metal riff and it just didn’t sound right. Korn imitation riffs were the only way to go! 😂
I want stuff trying to get into playing the guitar I have been playing for 12 days and I'm having fun but I did get the cheapest guitar I found on Amazon and it came with an amp with it. I think the brand is Glorry lol I need an upgrade I think that the neck is a bit bent oh well good video tho 😊
If the neck is messed up, that’s gonna make learning more difficult. You might still be within Amazon’s return window, so I’d hit them up about it!
@@thetonemob it's fine I'll just save up and get a better one when I can then when I do get a better one it will sound better and at least I'll know how to play more at that time and then I'll have 2 if I have a buddy coming over we can both jam out. But yeah 👍😊 till then party time 🎈
Whoa jerrys guitar❤❤❤❤❤❤debbie

Yes but I didn’t like it and I avoided Extra Credit! 😂

Cool! Digging the video feed versions of the podcasts. Jayce's videos are great. Bringing fun and humor into the guitar world!
Thanks dude! I’ll try to keep em coming! And yeah. Jayce is a ton of fun!
To everyone watching no not everyone in California sounds like a stoned out surfer
You’re right. Thats only 50% or so. 😜

Warlock
@@johnschick502I think I could make a warlock work… maybe
I’m shocked every time I hear the story. I’m glad they display it.
Same here!
I have done this as well, also with the nut. My 7 string PRS SE Custom (older version) that couldn't accept a .072. I got the thinnest drill head that I could find, which was 2 mm. I did one or two spins (cycle) of the drill that was it.
Could you play with no reverb? (Or other time based effects?)
I’ve learned more from watching tomos channel and this 1 hour interview than in most of my life probably. He’s great at communicating clearly and simply even though English not his first language
Tomo is better at communicating than me and I only speak English. 😂
Tomo is the epitome of taking something you love and turning it into a very lucrative entrepreneurship. Very inspiring
a really passionate and smart dude for sure!
Have you tried an online guitar course? How did you like it?
Nice!!! Was wondering if there was a place to watch the video versions. Very cool!
I'm trying to be more consistent with the video side, and trying to get as much of the backlog posted as well. It's a lot. hahaha!
Hi Blake, I came here because you said we need to “watch it” did you forget to post the video?

Way to go! Makes me smile🙂
Thanks Mom! You and Dad got me started with all this music stuff. 😊
Do you like playing with heavy fuzz?
Man this video is great. I love this pedal, and it's definitely more durable than people assume. I once accidentally kicked my whole pedalboard offstage, and it fell face down about two feet lol. That same Superfuzz is still on my board and still works like a charm!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Are you a vintage guitar enthusiast? Or do you prefer modern guitars?
Well yeah i do that’s why i buy from Derek!
That’s a good choice! 🤌🤌
@thetonemob always a good choice
Do you like quilted maple on your guitars?
I have several hundred kilos of wood from Derek. One of the best no BS people in the industry and always delivers the goods. The most honest wood retailer I deal with.
Love it! 👍👍👍
Steve Helgeson of Moonstone guitars was one of the first builders to popularize Western Big Leaf Maple.
I’ll have to check those out!
Are you into fancy woods on your guitars?
Yep. Got some from Mr. Kimball himself. Excellent business, best I've used for lumber.
@@piptyson5512very cool! What kind of build did you use it on?
@@thetonemob 2 Super Strat style 6 strings. Got plenty more wood to keep going too lol
I spent my life not caring, and then i played an explorer that i could never afford. Then i played a reverend, and then another, and then owned 3. I like something about korina. Not sure what. Im just a fan
@@joshuaraysummey7679there is definitely something about korina. 🤤🤤🤤
Thanks’ bro!
Yeah dude! Thank you for coming on. (Full video version will be out ASAP)
Wow very cool episode. I started following Nick’s instagram during the pandemic and it’s so entertaining to see all the cool vintage guitars. I know I’ll never be able to afford any of those, but who knows, maybe I’ll have a lucky pawn shop find one day🤞It’s a long shot in California since our pawn shops basically just sell new stock Alvarezs and Corts - nothing of vintage interest 😕
Yeah! He’s a dangerous follow! 😂
I went up to a 95 for my 8 string to tune down to D. Luckily, String Joy have changed the design at some point so that the wraps taper off sooner and drilling is not necessary. 😌
Depends on your scale length, headstock and what tuning machines you have. We did try to make the taper of the strings work with as many guitars as possible without mods, but some still will run into this.
@@thetonemob Mine has a 28" scale and 4x4 headstock. I don't even have a full wrap around the peg with locking tuners and it's still got some space so it seems just right in my case.
@@MichaelSheaAudioawesome! Glad they work for ya!
Do you use a boost pedal on your pedalboard?
I Don't have an electric. I had to sell it to pay rent. I'm a stay-at-home dad until I get disability because I broke my back when I was 19 while in work release in my towns jail. I'm 41 now. I'm 41 now they didn't allow me to go to a doctor because it would be a lawsuit. And so they shut off my phone stopped. My visit stopped my mail so I couldn't tell anyone and told the guard's not even to give me an ibuprofen or to let me see the nurse ever or even talk to the nurse. Because I tried to talk to the nurse when she came into work release and that was pretty much attacked by the guards. Can I win a guitar? I can't buy one right now. My fiance works her butt off and I just have to wait until my disability gets approved and I watch the kids so she can or auntie really loves it. I would just like to know how to win. I absolutely love how you do your do your video because you actually play and don't talk the whole time
