United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 8 เม.ย. 2015
I (Blake Wyland) have been the host of The Tone Mob Podcast since 2015, making it the longest running, interview style guitar podcast in the world.
After producing hundreds of hours of audio interviews and thousands of individual pieces of content for Instagram and other social media platforms, I decided to put my toe in the TH-cam waters along with my fellow guitar content creators.
On this channel you can expect video interviews with folks from the guitar world, news updates, effects pedal demos, original music, livestreams and a whole lot more.

Heavy Metal, Rap Beefs & Martin Guitars w/ Drayton Farley (a video interview)
มุมมอง 4416 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Drayton Farley is an incredible musician from Alabama. His music and songwriting is definitely in the Americana/Country/Singer-Songwriter vein, but what I didn't know is that this dude is a legit metalhead. (And he got much of his early exposure to this music ina church environment.) The conversation spans a great many subjects from Drayton's top 7 listened to songs, his compact pedalboard, the...

Come on baby let's do the twist.. heavy gauge yeah let's do the twist. Time to call the tech cause it goes like this. A bow on the heavy side treble is straight and do the twist..
Ok ok ok let’s get to the interview.
Hate the long ad before this episode.
You realize the though the thicker strings are tapered(notice the part where the string is a little thinner then fades into the 90 gauge) so you don’t have to do that right?
Considering I’m a partner in the company that makes these strings, yes. I know they are tapered. They still didn’t fit these particular tuners. And I’m tired of unwrapping them to make them fit.
I wasn't aware the was surfing in Ontario.
That thumbnail is Sooooo Gooooood hahaha, caught your joke
My original one was funny to those of us with super dark humor… But once I thought about it, was genuinely over the line. This is the toned down version. 😉
Shermy is bae.
Telecasters sell more Les Pauls than anything else.
Surfrajettes are that underground band that I want to keep on the DL so I can be a fanboy to myself… but they’re so good and talented that I tell everyone about (aboot? 🇨🇦) them! Their music makes me happy like Agent Cooper at a diner with a slice of pie and a damn good cup of coffee. 🥧 ☕️ 🎸 🏄♂️
Shermy - Nicole - Try touring Japan , Europe , NZ , England . 🎸🏄🎸🏄♂️🎸🏄🏽♀️🍁🇨🇦🇺🇸🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼 ( Open for Eric Clapton )
The Surfrajettes have played one gig each in Spain and Estonia and five in England. They say they like travelling and would, I'm sure like to tour the world but it appears it's all a matter of finance.
Good job Dude!!
Thanks Ma!
Great interview! Humble man. I have to agree on Winco pizza…….only because I built that Winco and the the Indio Town Center 😂
Thanks for checking it out! I just confirmed that my Winco indeed is deli-free. I am sad.
Have you been to a punk/metal/hardcore show in an unusual venue?
great cast, subbed!
Thank you! I’m glad you liked it!
One of my main concerns about "The Surfrajettes" was something I deeply admired about them: their devotion to the time period. They have their clothes, instruments, furniture, furnishings, everything everything everything. My concern? I was really worried that they were smokers, and their brands would also be period specific--such as "Mad Men". I thought they would have Kents, Parliaments, Virginia Slims from the early 60s. But, I've watched several of their videos/performances, and I'm sure that none of them smoke.
There sound is sooo smooth…it’s like organic…seen them 3 times….. They carry that precious spirit of the early 60s like Sandra Dee…Ricky Nelson, when I was a kid….
Using heavy gauge is not a flex🗣️🗣️🗣️
Good pedal .super fuzz!!!
When was this interview? Oct 2024....ish....
Yes! Thats when the audio version dropped
Yay!!! Woot woot. ETID and Better Lovers kick ass. His riffs have always been so dang good. Was really bummed when they split, but I get it too
Some of the best riffs of all time!
1st time watching your podcast. I'm an old guy with a surf history going back to 1962. I'm a fan of the Surfrajettes. I have watched them grow and become a much better band. I like their creativity in dress. Finding a little about Shermy was interesting, not surprising but she is becoming a person in my mind. I have one critique: Nicole and to some extent Shermy have a very serious facial expression when playing live. I have no idea what it's like to be female on stage. maybe if you smile too much, you get attacked for being an airhead. But looking like you are enjoying what you are doing is a connection with the audience. I have 5 guitars and several amps. Unlike you people, all I make is bad noise. best wishes for the future to both of you. Thank you. :)
What do you think of Jordan’s approach to gear? Do you follow a similar philosophy?
I luv the Surfragettes - Shermy has SO MUCH style ❤❤❤
Seriously. She nails the vibe!
@thetonemob and not just the band.. also Halloween.. home decor.. she's all in :)
She seems like she'd be such a cool person to hang out with. Gonna try the Tahitian treat and pizza combo haha
Am I the first person to sing a Creed song on the podcast?
I think you might be!
Where is Nicole Damoff?
My favourite Surfrajette interview is where all 4 of them speak with Anja Stax at Tiki Oasis.
She is one Talented Lady 😊! And Her Band Really Rocks 😊!
I unwind my Strings, its not good for my tuners to drill into them. They are already thin headed.
Taking shirts off for patreon 😂
Classical musician: Do you read sheet music? Jazz musician: Yes, but I don't let that get in my way.
My birthday is the 29th of January I’ve had all my instruments stolen and I’m dying for a resonator guitar to play the blues
She kinda gives me a younger Jennifer Jason Leigh vibes. I have watched much of their content.
What other oddball sounds should be made into a plugin?
Very enjoyable interview, Thank you!
Thank you for checking it out! More to come. 🫡
So nice to see the video version. Very talented and creative young lady. I could listen to her talk about guitars and music all day. Her Jaguar (Shaguar) is what got my attention on a live video from 2017 Asbury Park Surf Festival. It's them playing White Rabbit and the growl of her Jag is just heaven to my ears. Her wanting that growl tone had me hooked. Her Creston Creatures are gorgeous and sound incredible.
That is indeed such a gnarly but gorgeous sound!
@thetonemob It was the opening chord stabs ending with whammy bar as Nicole plays the opening solo. That tone told me instantly that these girls were the real deal. Here's the vid with White Rabbit. This may actually be the first video of theirs I ever saw. th-cam.com/video/F43M6P5JHco/w-d-xo.htmlsi=nSn9_3VgoSPzHlvq
Great interview! I love Shermy and the Surfrajettes! Cool ladies who play groovy Surf Rock!
Super groovy for sure! Thanks for checking it out!
Nice! I used to play on my RG2228: drop E tuning, .102 for the looooow E 😄 (video on my YT channel if interested ;))
How many of your favorite musicians could fix a lawn mower?
Who cuts strings before winding them up and leaving the strings alone for days first?!!!😂
If you have a vintage style tuner, you have to cut them before winding them on the tuner. As explained in the video.
Love to watch them play
Such a great band!
Great interview
Thank you very much. I really enjoyed getting to do it! Tomo rules.
Love this interview! Love the Surfrajettes and I call it Soda-Pop 😂!
Thank you for checking it out!
Dear Blake - may I suggest that you switch to decaf before recording your intros?
You can, but I barely drink coffee. And most of them are recorded long after coffee hours. 😂
Context? Link?
Great interview! Looks like Shermy signature surf rider is out of stock bummer! Hope it comes back! Also Hawaiian pizza for the win!
Thanks for checking it out!
Check reverb. Only 1 for sale.
Have you dove into the world or Surf rock? What are some of your favorite bands?
I'm 58 so Surf is part of my dna. But over the last 20 yrs the initial push was from Rob Zombie - The Ghastly Ones and The Bomboras. But my current bands are Messur Chups and The Surffrajets. The last Bomboras album is fantastic. Hi Tide is my go to record label.
@@suspiria1966Thank you! I’m gonna check out that bomboras record!
Langhorns, The Tormentos, The Surf Zombies, Sangue de Androide… But Man or Astro-Man? got me into surf back in high school.
Been a long time surf fan since the early 90’s and the main catalyst was - Man or Astroman? Lately within the past 6 or so years #1 for me is Daikaiju. They are super interesting with technical guitar playing and intensity that is unmatched. Some honerable mentions would be - the void surfers, king gadora, Arno de cea and the clockwork wizards, gnarsh mellow and amphibian man are some great bands that I feel take surf to a new and different level. Of coarse surferjettas are great in their own right and deserve the success they have had.
Hey Blake, check out the Northeast Surf Music Alliance, tons of bands including the Surfrajettes. Seen them a few times and got to meet them once, great band and super nice folks!👍👍
May they rock in peace 🤘
Absolutely 🤘
Yikes, yeah that’s a wild story behind that guitar. Seems like Jared James Nichols seems to acquire these rehabbed guitars and revive them into newly-loved tone machines. This one has a macabre history for sure though. Maybe he will use it to play Black Sabbath riffs?? 😳😁
I think he’s the perfect person to end up with this guitar!
The only thing scarier than this guitar is how sloppy my riffs are.
I like guitar center I just bought a guitar online I love the ability to have it delivered to one their stores...go in..check it.. If you're not satisfied.. It's theirs
