"The March of Time" - Exeter, New Hampshire
A clip from an early 40s newsreel called "The March of Time," featuring the little town of Exeter, New Hampshire. The Ioka Theater makes an appearance near the end. A throwaway line about the climate made me smile. A few bits of casual sexism are cringeworthy, but nevertheless it's pretty interesting.

Amazing video!
Very fun - Judge Shute is my great grand father. I grew up in this town and was there this past spring. The following video shows what it is like now, which is fun to compare. The downtown is relatively the same. th-cam.com/video/4rtLnxSlVz4/w-d-xo.html
Looks like it was a wonderful time to be alive in Exeter!! My great great grandfather (A damsell) is one of the policeman shown in front of the cruiser... very special to get to see him!!!
The girls highschool burned down
wow..pay has really dropped since then
Time does march on... the boys eating the ice cream at the end are in their 80's now..
Isn't Peyton Place just down the road....? just sayin
jobs long gone with the wind... Any UFO's sighed recently...? Rubber hoses in the back room officer ..?
This looks like an older film to video transfer, Love to see it transferred again using state of the art digital frame scanning process.
omg, this looks the same town as when I was a teen, now an adult. I can't believe how many places still remain, unchanged.
Narrated by Westbrook Van Voorhis, the "Voice of Doom"...
Everyone is white...
So what?
Does anybody know if this video can be purchased?
pretty interesting to see how various places looked in the past... thanks for uploading
I remember this being shot. I didn't realise it was video at the time. :)
