    Looks great! Gives me flash backs to my restoration of my DR650. Engine looks amazing overall! Not a single spot of blowback on the piston, mine had a little. Cylinder looks like a mirror… which is not ideal. Beware of the tension on the balancer chain! Mine was too loose so it completely tore itself apart. Had to replace the gears and chain. After replacing it I didn’t tighten the gears enough, so one of the gear came loose while riding… chain flew off and whipped a hole in my crankcase. Please follow the instructions in the manual about tightening! Cheers.

      Thanks. I Didn’t know about the cylinder so I read up on now. Interesting… so I should probably hone it and install new rings? I will go into the chains a bit in the next episode. Sorry to hear about your misfortune

    • @littlebigadventuring

      Mini Bike Matt the baltic coast is nice. My only worry would be that it might be a bit repetitive riding so far with the same scenery/landscape. I can imagine the roads are quite straight for most of the time. The grom was great fun in norway but Denmark was a bit boring. But if you do detours and stop a lot to do other stuff it can still be a sweet trip.

    • @littlebigadventuring
      @littlebigadventuring 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I ment on your way to finland. You’d see much of the same riding along the north coast for so long. the E4 through sweden is a 110km/h dual carriage way. I’d stay away from that unless your in a rush. And in that case you’re on the wrong bike ;) unless you plan on riding in october-april I wouldn’t worry much about the temperature. You’d want to have good waterproof and warm gear for sure for such a long ride anyway. Are there no ferries from the UK to norway anymore?

    • @littlebigadventuring
      @littlebigadventuring 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your kind words. I wore a Spidi marathon set. It’s a three layer set which I have owned for about four years now I think. It’s the only gear I have so that’s why I chose it :D. But it works great. Keeps me dry and it’s really warm with the thermo layer. I think we had a few degrees below freezing at times and I never felt too cold. I didn’t have any waterproof gloves so I used covers when it got too cold or it was raining the heated grips helped a lot obviously. On my feet I had Sidi rain I think they are called. Ironically the feet were to only part of me that got wet and where I felt most cold. i bought some warmer socks in Norway but it could have been better. My helmet is an arai chaser. Nice helmet but the cheap e-bay visor had no hydrophobic layer so it was a mess during the rain. I used car wax to make it a bit better. Regarding camping gear we didn’t bring any tent for this trip. It would simply be too much to lug along on these bikes. We stayed in Airbnbs and huts. We did bring sleeping bags which we made use of one night in a hut. My buddy also brought a fireless cooking set. It used some form of chemical reaction to heat water to boiling. It worked pretty good. I can’t find the brand atm though. I didn’t pick any gear especially for the trip. I used it because that’s the stuff I always ride in. Regarding mod for the bike. I was very happy that I reinstalled the stock can for the trip. We did a trip about half as long the year before with my tyga exhaust and it gets quite tiring to listen to. With stock I felt no need for earbuds which is a big plus in my book. Luggage rack was a must. I even had to extend mine. Stock tires are a hazard in regular conditions and would have been a huge risk factor where we went. We both used michelin power pure which works pretty good. They are still pretty slippery in the wet though but much softer than the stock ones. While I often wished for more power to go up hill But there is now way I’d take a grom fitted with big bore kit on a trip like this. The stock engine is weak but it will take serious abuse. We rode WOT 90% of the time and we lost no oil at all. Spare no expenses I would liked to have beefed up suspension. It worked just fine on the road but once we were off pavement it really struggled. I have sold my grom but I do miss it. If they ever make a 200cc + version I’ll be first in line. I might pick up a 125 for cheap later on. I hope that answered your questions :)

      Tommy Kawasaki it was a great trip! if you don’t mind stepping out of the comfort zone you can do amazing trips for very little money. When touring I also think slower is better. If you want to get somewhere fast and comfortable why ride a bike in the first place? And btw If you have problems with a visor I recommend ”trying” a little bit of car wax from a petrol station. The potato is better than nothing but Wax is better still and I think just as easy to find as potatoes :D
