Come cut a gem with me! On the machine today? A big, beautiful, bicolor North Carolina sapphire 💙 This piece was mined years ago in the North Carolina mountains, somewhere between Corundum Hill and Lake Chatuge. The blue banding inside is just something else, and I’m thrilled I was able to catch it as well as I did! If you’d like to check out this gem, have me set it in a custom piece of jewelr...
Faceting a Montana sapphire I found in a bag of dirt
มุมมอง 1.4Kวันที่ผ่านมา
Come watch me facet a 100% natural, self-mined Montana sapphire. This gorgeous piece came from the Rock Creek deposit in Montana, and I picked it myself from a bag of gravel we had shipped in! There is truly nothing like finding a gem, faceting it, and turning it in to jewelry completely myself. If you’d like to check out this gem, have me set it in a custom piece of jewelry for you, or shop fr...

Faceting the Halloween sapphire
มุมมอง 1.6K14 วันที่ผ่านมา
Come watch me facet the perfect sapphire for spooky season. This incredible piece is 3.45 carats of untreated Montana mined magic! The inclusions inside look like a galaxy, the sheen on the top looks like a spiderweb, and if you look closely you can see one suspended red gem inside that looks like a little drop of blood. I don’t think it gets much more Halloween than that 👻🩸 This gem actually s...

Come watch me facet my favorite gem yet :) This incredible piece is 2.8 carats of untreated, color-change Montana sapphire magic. While the final gem may be mesmerizing, the process that went into creating it is just as intriguing. This is one of my favorite videos I’ve made yet, and I hope you all enjoy! We mined 600 grams of NC rubies & sapphires… from our garage? (Propst Farm part 3)
มุมมอง 2.6K21 วันที่ผ่านมา
If you’ve ever wanted to know what happens after a weekend of digging for gems in North Carolina, you made it to the right video. My dad and I spent a weekend mining for gems at Propst Farm, and the pieces we found in the field were only half of the full haul. We brought home 4 buckets of rocks, washed them up, and found some INCREDIBLE rubies & sapphires in the mix. Whether you’re looking for ...

You just earned a new sub because I like gems
very beautiful dear 👌
Absolutely stunning!!!
Hello, I have a question. Last year in October me and my sons went camping on south mountain in NC. We found a big piece of quartz. It looks like Smokey quartz. How do I find out if it’s real or not? It also reflects multiple colors in some small areas.
Sehr hübsch 💎🤩👍
Are they unheated
Yes!
@tayraegems nice I always wanted a unheated blue sapphire with rutile needles and rutile silk and rutile crystals
Out of curiosity, does the imperfections weaken them at all? They're so pretty, so I'm just wondering if there's a downside to them
Thank you! Some flaws like fractures can weaken the overall stone a bit, but I do all I can to combat that. I cut more problematic stones a bit thicker, work to remove all the major fractures I can, and design settings specifically to keep the stones protected. If a gem makes it through all the steps of faceting and stress testing, it should by all means hold up for daily wear 😊
Its a healing video ❤
❤️❤️❤️
I hate this song so much
Commenting on the video might cause the algorithm to recommend you more videos using the song😅 the best thing to avoid it is to click not interested on video 😄
@melodyprescott4844 really? Thanks for the info, i really appreciate it. I'll try to click the "not interested" button.
A couple years ago I was going through dirt i dug up around Boone I believe, I was actually gold sluicing, but while i was sorting the dirt through progressively smaller screens, i noticed a big black marble looking thing in one of the middle screens. Picked it up and rinsed it off, turned out to be a perfect wine-red almandine garnet the size of a cherry with amazing surface etching like a computer's motherboard. Only imperfection was a bit of muscovite growing on one side, but it easily came off. That garnet is still my best wild garnet find, and i wasnt even looking for it!
Ahhhh that is so cool!!!! The garnets in that area are absolutely insane. That had to be the craziest feeling! I heard about a spot near Boone that had baseball sized garnets, but was never able to find it.
Looks great❤
Thank you! 😊
Do you have the email address for the farm? Thank you. Nice find 👍
Thank you! You can contact the owner Ron by call or text. His phone number should be in the Propst Farm group on Facebook :)

Очень красивый сапфир 👍👍👍🤩🤩🤩
`Wonderful! This is one of the most beautiful stones I think I've seen. The mysterious suggestion of ferns and vines is captivating. Thank you for sharing this with us.
I am so glad you enjoyed! Thank you so much for your kind comment 😊
There's a dent in the table, next time preform it better.
Is this a variety of quartz or a beryl of some kind? Also, the blue is so vivid! Shame more of the stone wasn't colored.
It’s different but pretty cool!
Thank you! 😊
When I first looked at your rougs, I thought that nothing good would come of it. You prove me wrong every time. Congratulations :))
Thank you!! I definitely question some of the rough pieces too 😅 I really appreciate that!
Absolutely gorgeous GR8 job all the way around!!!
Thank you so much!! 😊
Good evening very very ❤️ very wonderful

It is very beautiful and amazing stone really I can't wait to see the setting for the stones it really
Beautiful work, congrats!
Thank you! :)
very similar to our ''tigers eye" stones in queensland, ours are mainly yellow centres/blue outers
That is so cool! I’d love to work with some gems like that one day.
havent seen a clear and blue one before, we get heaps of 'party' colour combo's here in australia.
That is so cool! I’d absolutely love to cut some Australian sapphires one day. The color zoning in them is just incredible.
U know, it would be cool to know how u got into this and if u took classes in lapidary.maybe you could do a video about that? Your doing some crazy cool gems since I’ve been watching which isn’t very long really, I just came across your channel awhile back. That’s a beautiful gem u just cut and I’m just hooked lol! ❤
Thank you so much!! I’m glad you like what I do 😊😊 The very first video I posted on this channel is actually of me attending William Holland lapidary school. It’s a ways down at this point, but it’s there!
Nice
I'm excited!!!
I love it 😊
Thank you! 😊
Such a beautiful minty color
Thank you! That color is my favorite, I’m hoping to get some similar ones soon.
Nice i just ordered one of the boxes of montana dirt to try to find some to facet.
That’s awesome!! I hope you find some great pieces :)

Beautifully executed video BTW Lots of exercise, sunshine and fresh air and a few beautiful hexagonal corundum samples...what more cloud you ask for!
Thank you so much! I couldn’t agree more - it was an awesome trip 😊

Сапфир король всех драгоценных камней, красивее сапфиров могут быть только сапфиры. Большое спасибо за видео. 💎🤩🤩🤩✨✨✨🎃
👍👍👍❤
If you’re interested in making this piece yours, it’s available on my site now! 4.75 carats of all natural Montana sapphire. Link is in my bio :) I also posted a video with the full process that went into cutting this gem! Head over to my channel to watch.
The 10 and 58 may be my favorites, so many stones in just one year. At first i thought, why faceting so many opaque stones??? Then with this videos and so many beautifull inclusions, i saw the light ;) Very nice work
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate that. I have definitely gotten some critiques for the amount of opaque stones I cut, but I absolutely love the variety in them. I’m very glad you were able to see the vision I was going for! I love a sparkly clear stone just as much, but I’m an even bigger fan of the variety in all these US gems 😊
This is SO beautiful! I have some rough garnets that would be spectacular to see polished up. 💙
