The Weather Mike
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 1 ม.ค. 2024
I have been obsessed with weather since I was a kid growing up in Oregon. I moved to Roswell, NM to seek fame and fortune in radio and TV. I don't know about that, but I did land a radio job and worked my way up through radio and then TV eventually becoming the weather forecaster on KBIM TV in Roswell. My career took me to Lubbock, Texas where I cohosted the morning show for many years as the morning weatherdude on KLBK TV. Weather will always be my passion so I thought I'd share here on the TH-cams. I currently live in Western Iowa. As a snow lover I'm looking forward to my first Midwest Winter! All my exes live in Texas and so do my kids and grandkids. Lets talk weather and have fun doing it! Thanx for hangin' out with me!

Are there any rules of thumb to watch for to predict fog formation?
Great question! Fog forms when the temperature and the dewpoint temperature meet. Often fog will form when there is an increase in moisture such as after a rain, or near a large body of water with an onshore breeze. The morning is the coolest part of the day, so that is usually when you'll see fog form. It burns off once the temperatures warm.Sometimes you can get cool moist air trapped under high pressure for extended periods of fog, say in California's central valleys during the winter sometimes.
It was a little froggy this morning, but it burned off pretty quickly.
I'm a fan of fog! Especially if I can get out with a camera.
150 year record heat out here in SLC area, heat finally broke yesterday. Did get a few extra weeks of cucumbers atleast....
All those extra cucumbers could get you in a pickle! Enjoy the change of seasons
Thanks for keeping us updated! 💯 😊
Thank you for tuning in!
My freshly planted spinach, radishes will be fine. will pick remainder of tomatoes and peppers tonight
Glad you have a plan! The seasons are changing...
Went out and looked for the comet, but don't see it. Was it close to Venus?
So yeah. Venus then to the right and up. It was fairly faint. I could make it out with the naked eye, but barely. The Moon was almost full too. If you are near the city I can see why you couldn't see it. I'm out in the sticks!
It's cold!!!!
Did y'all sneeze up there or what? Come get your cold weather! The south is so freaked out we threw up red flags!🤣🤣
lolol. Quite the turn around!
Pretty comet photo!
Thanx!
Yep... Looks like I'm going to have to break out the parka!
Hahaha! Yep!
No need to apologize for the heat in Texas. I live here for a reason. I've only had to shovel snow (really ice) once in my life, and that's one time too many. If it gets too hot around here, there's always the beach!
Ah, the beach life! Fall is coming, but as you know, it's usually later there than most places. Enjoy!
Oh no lol! oh well, it's a ways off still 😂 hopefully it'll be fine either way. Pretty northern lights!
Thanx! I'll keep you posted for sure
Fall weather finally on the way
Delayed but not denied!
Awesome! Thank you so much! It's on the other side of the 10 days so it should be good 🤩
Terrific! Happy to help
Request time - my girlfriend's flying into and out of Colorado in like 2 weeks. Any weather systems to keep an eye on for that yet?
Thanx for that request! I'll have an update for you in the morning
It's hump day, Mike!
Mornin' Bruce!
Awesome picture!
It was cool dude! More solar flares please!
Thanks for the update
Doesn't look like it's going to be much fun in Merida/Progresso for the next few hours anyway.
Trip to paradise postponed!
Last night I had a dream about Hurricane Milton. In my dream the hurricane started hooking North as it approached Florida's gulf coast. It then started hugging the gulf coast of Florida and headed straight North hitting the cities of North Florida very hard (Tallahassee and other cities). I don't know if this will happen but when I woke up from this dream I felt very shaken. I told my mom about this dream and asked her to warn our relatives in North Florida to also prepare for this possible outcome. Right now no one is expecting this hurricane to hook North but if it does no one in North Florida is expecting this scenario and they haven't been preparing for this hurricane. If you live in North Florida you need to be watching this hurricane closely and possibly leave Florida as well. If this hurricane does hook North and you live in North Florida you need to leave quickly. If you can't leave then find a concrete commercial building (or concrete hotel) to take shelter in. You need to go to the second or third floor of the building (not the top floor where the wind could peel away the roof of the building). Take your emergency supplies with you to this commercial building (water, food, flashlights, radio, etc). Take this monster very seriously!
Thank you for that. Weather forecasting is still an inexact science and it's always a good idea to be prepared even if you live near, but outside, the cone of certainty. The Weather Service does an excellent job! I'll do my best to keep you posted. Prayers for Florida!
I'm so glad I don't live in hurricane territory those things are terrifyingly large.
I'm so with you on that! I watch some storm chasers that will be heading to be in the eye wall. It's fascinating to watch, but I think they are crazy.
Hope you get to feeling better Cuz
Thanx Cuz! This morning is going to be interesting. Not sure if I have a voice today. We'll find out soon!
Nicely done!! What a voice!!
Thanx. Sometimes there are advantages to getting sick!
Oh when are you going to round up the old gang and do some more conspiracy videos? Thought while I was typing that is get a couple newbies like Nicole and Cristie and send them down rabbit holes they never thought about🤣🤣 THAT would make a great video
Thanks Mike!!
Thank You!
I feel for those flooded and still getting rain!
Yeah, it's really bad. Hopefully those folks are getting the help they need. 🙏
We don't often see storms with this many deaths anymore. Thanks for another detailed report!
It's tragic. That flash flooding in the mountains was so sudden. People didn't have time to react. 😞
Been raining all day here in Tennessee, my dogs are not happy.
I hear ya cuz. They'll have to go out at some point 🙂
Thanks Weather Mike for the great weather forecast! If I'm not mistaken, it looks like next week's forecast for Denver, Colorado should be kind of mild. Would that be right? Thanks again, Trucker Rich
Correct! Even on the warm side! Highs in the 80s maybe even 90 on Sunday. Cooling of next week. Tuesday near 80. Still warm!
Thanks Weather Mike from Indiana today! Trucker Rich
Save travels Rich! Thanx for delivering our stuff!
Thank you, Weather Mike. Now we're finally going into a season at the I like! Trucker Rich
Fall has fallen! Leaves changing is next. Great time of the year!
Thanks for the forecast Cuz!
Anytime Cuz!
Thanks for the other weather forecast Weather Mike. I have a question for you if we get a lot of rain late Summer and fall, does that mean less snow for winter? Trucker Rich
Great Q Rich! I don't think one really has a bearing on the other. For example, the desert SW has received a lot of rain in Southern Arizona this Monsoon, but with La Nina conditions forming in the Pacific that generally means a warmer and dryer Winter for them.
Wow a report on Sunday! Cool!
Thanx Bruce!
Drying out down here in the south!! The plus is everything is green again LOL
Suh-weet! As long as you didn't drive your truck into the storm surge like Reed Timmer, you should be good! 🤣
@@TheWeatherMike My mama taught me to roll down the window! Although I ALWAYS get a ticket🤣
Thank you weather Mike for another forecast although you keep on bringing in this four-letter word that starts with S and ends with n lol
lol. I'm sorry Rich. That four letter word is my favorite though!
Lets get the party started LOL I hate when they slow down and make us wait 🤣
Be careful over there!!! 🙏
Ok I am no longer happier than a tornado in a trailer park LOL Ya got that thing coming right next to me with us being non the east side lol
Time to visit Aunt Gertrude in Oklahoma in a few days!

@@KnowInsanity Yikes! Gurtrude coming to visit you!
@@TheWeatherMike the name is fitting for a wet mess lol
Yay! I'm the first one to give you a thumbs up today. Thanks for the weather forecast
Thanx Rich! Have a good one!
Thank you so much for the report. If you hadn't already mentioned it, I was going to ask you about that disturbance the NHC is tracking in the Bay of Campeche. So we are looking at it arriving here around Thursday but clearing out qucikly. The reason I'm watching this, is that my wife and I are moving to another home about five miles to the North of here on the 16th. It would be nice to know if a tropical system might disrupt our plans. If it stays in the upper 990s millibars, we should be okay, but that is still tropical storm territory, if not low-grade hurricane. Still, we in The Houston area are well aware that tropical storms like Allison and low-grade hurricanes like Beryl can still cause us some headaches, so please keep an eye out on this for me, and let me know if you think it might become worse than the models are currently suggesting. Thanks again for some excellent reporting.
Thanx Bruce! I'll keep an eye out and keep you posted!
Rain's a comin'
If you have hatches, batten them down!
Hi there Weather. Mike, thanks for sharing your weather knowledge. Trucker Rich
Thanx brother! Have an amazing day!
Another great weather forecast weather Mike. And yes, I think it's way too soon for snow for those of us that don't appreciate it. However Thanks for letting us know when it is coming. Trucker Rich
Thanx Rich! Have a great weekend!!!
Thank you Mike! Take care and GOD bless you!😊🙏🏼
TY Susan! God Bless You right back!!!
Getting an early start, I see. I like it. Have a good day Mike.
