Since 1965, the Sinfonicron Light Opera Company has been delighting audiences, enriching the community and providing a unique experience for William & Mary students. The company is formed by a partnership of four student groups: Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Delta Omicron music fraternity, Nu Kappa Epsilon music sorority and the Theatre Student Association.

Sinfonicron is proud to present its production of Gilbert & Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance, January 23-26. Enjoy this teaser of the show!
After turning 21, young Frederic leaves piracy behind and falls in love with Mabel, the daughter of the Major-General. Unfortunately, due to a technicality with his leap-year birth date, he discovers that he is still bound as an apprentice to the Pirate King. Chaos and hilarity ensue as Frederic struggles with his sense of duty, leading to a clash between the pirates, the Major-General, and a group of policemen.
Show times are as follows:
Thursday, January 23rd at 7:30pm
Friday, January 24th at 7:30pm
Saturday, January 25th at 2:00pm and 7:30pm
Sunday, January 26th at 2:00 pm

When I was at William and Mary (1993-1997), Sinfonicron did a production of Patience that had the aestheticism replaced with existentialism. It was pretty kick-ass :) Is that still the version they use?
Appreciate the creative decision to have Rose hesitate to go with Richard after Robin yields (and still be visibly in love with him). Can’t say I’ve seen that before.

Four months later I'm watching this and am beyond grateful to be part of the company I regularly refer to as the best thing I've ever done in my whole life. I would be crying right now except that I'm smiling and laughing out loud just remembering what a remarkably good time we had. I love all of my Sinfonipeople dearly 💖💕❤️️
The orchestra was particularly wonderful if too loud for these young voices.
It's unfortunate that such a good production was shot from such a distance

This trailer fails to encourage one to see more of these 20 lovesick maidens.
When Sullivan gives you such wonderful music to "Patience" it seems unfeeling to use Grieg and Lennon/McCartney tunes for your trailer.
Good luck with your performance of Iolanthe which is by many regarded as the best example of the G&S partnership. But beware of the temptation to spice up Strephon's character. "Those who try to add to Gilbert's humour only diminish it."
