So this is from November - I wasn't going to post this as I seem to have lost quite a bit of footage, however, it seemed a waste so here it is anyway - minus the initial climb up to Stickle Tarn! The Langdales is one of my favourite places in the Lakes and I've been wanting to go back and run these peaks for a long time! Although it was initially a cold start, it turned into a lovely warm day! ...

from thinking you were about to climb 300m to having to climb 600m, i bet that was mentally challenging adjustment.. good to see ya back ont fells.. tek care :)
Brilliant. I’m so glad your hard work was rewarded with such a glorious morning and thank you for sharing the views. Well done to you too. 👏👏👏👏
@@richardborley7326 thank you 😊
Great to see you back. Lovely weather you looked knackered going up
@peterlong2327 thank you! Yes I definitely felt it!
Great video can't wait for next year's 50
@@frazeryoung7882 you will love it!
Really useful video, I’m doing this route tomorrow 👍
@@joerussuk enjoy! Fabulous weather for it 😊
Just watched your great video as booked to do the 50 next year you did fantastic hope I can round as well as you did well done
@frazeryoung7882 thanks 😊. I'll be on the start line next year all being well 😁
Well done fab video, i am going to sign up for next years one, don't know how much running I will manage though You did a cracking time well done. I would be concerned at water running out at feed stations as I drink so much , but i do tend to carry a larger water bladder, I am excited now for next year, I am hoping my nerves will hold, i do vet very anxious and have had a few dnf on the Montane spine , hoping 2025 will be my year its great to be able to watch very down to earth vidoes like yours, all the best with your running Andy 🙂
Thank you! I'm doing The Lap in May next year, looking forward to tackling it again the other way around! Good luck 😊
Fab, friends of mine have done the clockwise one in May before ,my friends have said that it is a lovely event and well organised, fingers crossed I get in tomorrow I have an excited buzz already and it's a year away 😅 After a few Montane spine attempts & dnf's it was time for a change, although I am sure that I will come back to the Montane sometime as I cannot let go for some reason but I am excited for something new , good luck with your events and fab videos 🙂
Absolutely loved this video, I was willing you on all the way too and almost blubbered at the end with you haha! Massive well done!
@nickimaclean thank you so much! I'm doing the clockwise event in May next year, looking forward to it!
This is good but you need the camera fixed on you rather than holding it. I had hoped the whole route was being shown, but it seems not.
@catman2007 the camera batteries and memory card would not last the whole 5 hours it took to complete the route, and I don't think that would make for good watching! I tried to show the turning points as they were the most important.
@@runningbritain That makes sense. Thank you. I walked 10 hundreds with the ldwa, out of 14 attempts.
Can I just say Claire, this was really useful to me, thank you. I did the 50 this year and saw you at Dalemain - I was at the side of someone you knew. I walked the whole way due to an injury in 22 hours. Hopefully will get back there in 2025 to try and run it. Thanks again
@ThePauldavies30 thanks Paul, I'm glad you found it useful! Sorry you had to complete it with an injury, but you got around! Hopefully it hasn't made it worse for you. I wasn't able to run this year due to illness but I enjoyed being there and part of the atmosphere. I'll hopefully be back in 2025 so may see you there 😊
@runningbritain I hope so too. I loved the atmosphere and was in awe of the 100's! Just an observation, I couldn't believe how much difference using poles made - I was amazed!
Thank you for this video. Really helpful.
Love this video Claire, just rewatched it, fancy doing it again this year?
I'm hoping to do it again, may even attempt the 100km if I fare better this time!
Amazing, I love your content and will be there myself. 100km is more appealing this year with the earlier start and it being September rather than October. And you have soooo many miles under your belt this year! Will be delighted if I get to say hi at Hawes 😊
The Cumbrian air will have done you good Claire, good effort and well deserved lunch for you at the end, I did 2 outlyers out near Shap on Wednesday, hard work pathless for about three quarters of the walk.
Thanks Howard. I really need to look at the Outlyers and do some of those
@@runningbritain Some are good Claire and others not so good, the ones round Shap are remote and a bit pathless and boggy, some round Windermere and Newby Bridge are not to bad and not as far for you to travel.
I'll have to get the Outlyers book, I've never really paid much attention to them as I've been so busy doing the 214
You couldn't have picked a better day weather wise for that walk Claire with 360 degree views that day, did you not fancy going up Jack's Rake up onto Pavey Ark, not for me though, i hope you are feeling better on every passing day.
I'd love to do Jack's Rake again, but this day was still quite icy so it would have been too risky! I would like to go back and do it again but will probably wait until I have company just for a bit of moral support!
The only way I could help you with that Claire is watching you from the bottom.
That area is so lovely. Wondering if I should leave the Langdales until last on my Wainright round? What would you leave for last? (I have only done 19 so far! 😂😂😂)
It used to be my favourite place but I think everywhere is my favourite place in the Lakes 😆. Ooh that's a good question - a lot of people do Great End, to signify the end of the journey, some do Haystacks as it's Wainwright's resting place... I wanted my last one to be a singular fell so it wasn't too much if people wanted to come along to celebrate with me. I've not a clue what my last one of round 2 will be yet, I think I'm going to complete them by area this time - just wing it 😆
Awesome acheivement. 💪 Love how you walked down with you bottle of fizz in your hydration pouch 😂 Looking forward to all the adventures to come doing the Wainrights. You've inspired me - 4 down - 210 to go, cant wait 😊
Let's do this! 💪🥳
Do you not get a bit disillusioned when you say the path has come to an end, where do I go from here I think I would Claire, surely that rocky bit along the beach is not the path as you wouldn't get round it if the tide was in, it's good that you are still smiling though, hope you are feeling much better now.
I do, but I just adapt the best way I can and try to stay positive! Yes I'm feeling a lot better now thank you!
@@runningbritain I think you've got to when in a situation like that but it must knock a bit of enjoyment out of your walk/run, good to hear you are feeling much better, stay strong.
Well done, keep going :)
Thank you 😊
Well done for completing the route Claire when you were still feeling unwell but I bet you didn't do much running up Steel Fell and the path from Calf Crag to Helm Crag isn't very good running terrain either.
Thanks Howard. No, I stuck with the usual plan of walking all the uphill bits! I've currently got Covid so it will be a similar situation in a few weeks when I finally get out again. On the plus side, it's given me a bit of time to focus on editing so I'm going to try and get up all my videos up to date.
@@runningbritain So sorry to hear you have got Covid Claire, I hope you are starting to feel much better and getting over it quickly, you seem to be having a few rough months healthwise, you take care and look after yourself.
Great stuff, the end of Cumbria well and truly in sight now.. Some dodgy paths there, av been doing a few Outlying Wainwrights recently and some of those are pretty rough going too.. tek care :)
That path at the beginning was to good to last Claire, I can see you becoming an ambassador for Persil shortly with all the mud on you, that bit through the trees looked hard work and not very enjoyable.
Just getting ready to do my 5k in Halewood,Liverpool today.Watching your video while I do my stretches.Training at the moment for my Marathon in Vassenden Norway,(near Bergen),you'd love there,it's on the 6th July.Keep up the good work, running is life!!!!🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️
Thank you, good luck in your marathon 😊
Congratulations. Very well done, and on such a rotten day weather-wise.
Thank you. Hoping for better weather this year 🙏
You are very determined. Brilliant.
Thank you 😊
It’s great seeing all the places i live. I live in dalton in Furness and would be great to see the videos around closer to where i live. Going good loving the vids
You could have given me a guided tour! I'm heading to Walmey Island soon - I'm so excited for that!
Walney is flat so no hills. South end of walney can get very windy but good chance to see some seals 🦭 north walney just watch out for low flying planes. You will enjoy it.
I went yesterday - no seals but I'm going to do the seal watching trip from Roa Island. Didn't see any planes either 😆. Was a lovely day though!
You shouldn't have run through Haverigg Claire somebody might have thought you were an escapee from the local prison, Were they not the Coniston fells you pointed out while filming as you are were South of Black Combe when you pointed them out, It's 5 months since you did that section, are you through Cumbria now.
I only realised there was a prison nearby once I got to Millom and saw the signs. Yes they probably were the Coniston fells, I'm not that great at identifying them, I should have looked at my map! I'm around Barrow, hopefully will be at Ulverston within the next couple of weeks. Hoping to catch up on editing and uploading over the next week.
@@runningbritain If you're round near the Ulverston area have you thought of doing a bit more of your Cumbria Way trip? look forward to watching your next videos when you put them on.
I would like to start the Cumbria Way again, but I will be doing it separately from this
Good effort. You done really well
Thwt was great Claire, still got your feet wet, but easier watching. I've driven past Black Combe several times, but never climbed it. Tbe views to the fells ànd over the sea were fantastic. Hope things go well as you go on 👍😊
Thank you, really enjoyed this one 😊
Pleased to see you got through this one relatively unscathed Claire compared to the last one apart from your hip and hay fever, I think you will have been glad you had the extra layers with you when the weather turned at the end.
You took my recommendation to go up Black Combe Claire, what did you think of the view from the summit? maybe it would be a good idea stick to the Wainwright's in the winter as the low lying paths along the coast are just waterlogged and not very pleasant, 3 videos in a week, I can't keep up.
It was a good recommendation, I loved the views! I thought the coast in winter was preferable to the snow and ice of the Wainwright's, I really don't mind the muddy waterlogged fields, as much as I complain! I've had a week off work so I'm catching up with editing!
Lots of mud but loads of sunshine too. Well done, keep going.
Looked great - nice one
Your such an inspiration. Love your videos and I had never heard of this ultra and I think I may give this a go next year
Thank you 😊. Have a look at Rangers Ultras, they have a few great events 😊
Well done lass. Your determination when you're out there on your own and the going gets tough - hat off to you.
Great effort and well done. Best wishes to you out there.
Super impressive. I dont think my legs could take me that far 🙈
You'd be surprised - it's 70% mental! 😊
Well done you!
Thank you 😊
Two videos in a day, what a treat! 😄 That was awesome, superb performance, thats a long way! "Oh, theres a bridge" 😂funny 😂 Very well done 👍
Haha it wasn't my best moment 😅
What a great day out Claire! Tough to gauge the weather and terrain. Always enjoy hearing your thoughts along the route. We'll done!
Thank you 😊
Nice to see you wainwrighting again 😊👍
I try to do a bit of both, mix it up a bit 😊
@@runningbritain any plans for some wild camping? That would be great too 😀👍
@@lomino6478 definitely! Once it gets a bit warmer as my kit isn't up to winter camping! But I'm excited to do more wild camping this year!
@@runningbritainfantastic! Look forward to that, well into my wild camping ⛺😀👍
Wainwright says in his books that the cairn on the South of the wall, that you come to first is the Baystones summit, and what he classed as Wansfell. The one over the wall is a few metres lower. I’m doing this on Saturday as my 214th 😊 I followed your route for Grike, Crag Fell and Lank Rigg on Saturday - glorious weather and a great little run, so thank you for doing the video 😊
There were some great views up there making the effort all the more worthwhile. Another Wainwright done, I admire your determination to do them plus running around Britain too, love the ambition and dedication that you show in your endeavours!
Thank you 😊
Living close to where you are walking here I know how the so called Coastal Path often fades away and follows inland roads for long stretches as you can not get across several inland waterways. Wish you luck as you head for Barrow.
love a bit of bog.. best way to become one with nature, specially when ya waist deep int bloody stuff haha.. loving the journey, keep going! :)
Haha yes! I've been there a few times, all part of the fun 😁. Thank you 😊
Blimey Claire, there's "digging in" and "digging deep"! Chapeau, excellent result :-)
Thank you! It's definitely taught me that if I can get through that the way I was feeling, then I can get through (almost) anything!
Definitely include car camping. I do it quite a bit when it's just me, so seeing other spots that people find is great :-) I often use the cheaper campsites as well - the last one was Syke Farm at Buttermere - I just car camped in the car park by the river, and it has two pubs next door :-)
I've just upgraded my car camper so hoping to get out in it very soon! So many beautiful places in Buttermere 😊
How long did it take you please Claire? I'm doing that same route this weekend as a run :-)
2 hours 54 mins. I'm a very slow plodder and walk the uphills so you will likely do it much faster!
Thanks Claire - I was hoping 2:30 - 3 hours 🙂
That was tough going but you made it through in the end. I hope the next stage is on better ground with a well defined route.
Thank you, fingers crossed 🤞
Bogfest!
As you said when crossing those planks, 'kinell! A challenge but you rose to it with humour.Waterproof Gaffa tape will fix your trousers. I laughed when you mentioned the firing range: you looked like you'd already been shot at.Lol!
Haha thank you! I tried the gaffer tape but it wouldn't stick? Maybe it was the wrong type?
You said you didn't enjoy road walking but i think you would have enjoyed it more than going through that swamp, i think the gods were looking down on you at the end when the footpath was closed off and you had to walk the road.
It's character building I guess 😊
Or demoralising.
I always look for the positive!
@@runningbritain l think you have got to think positive or you wouldn't go back to walk in them conditions, I did Humphrey Head a Outlying Fell before Christmas near Kents Bank Station and had to walk round the headland to get to it and it was similar to what you walked through, not really enjoyable, why I mentioned it I think you will have to go through it when you get that far down.
