8. 1979 - SLV-III Failure:
The first SLV-III launch attempt in 1979 ended in failure. Kalam took personal responsibility and motivated his team to work harder for the next attempt.
1980 - SLV-III Success:
The successful launch of SLV-III in 1980, placing the Rohini satellite into orbit, marked a key achievement in India’s space program and a milestone in Kalam’s career
9. 1983 - Integrated Guided Missile Development Program (IGMDP):
Initiated and led the IGMDP, which aimed to develop indigenous missile systems. Under this program, Kalam played a key role in developing missiles such as:

10. 1998 - Pokhran-II Nuclear Tests:
Dr Kalam Played a leading role in Pokhran-II, the series of nuclear tests conducted in May 1998, which made India a recognized nuclear power.
11. Awards and Honors:
Awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honor, in 1997, along with many other national and international awards for his contributions to science and public service.
12. In 1998 - Co-developed Kalam-Raju Stent:
In collaboration with Dr. B. Soma Raju, he co-developed the Kalam-Raju Stent, a low-cost coronary stent, significantly reducing the cost of heart surgery in India.
14. In 2002 - Elected President of India:
Elected as the 11th President of India with widespread support from both political parties and the public. Known as the “People’s President” for his humility and engagement with the public, especially youth and students.
15. Post-Presidency Contributions (2007-2015)
2007 - Return to Education and Public Speaking:
After his presidency, Kalam dedicated his life to teaching, writing, and motivating students. He became a visiting professor at several universities, including IIMs, IITs, and Anna University.
16. Final Moments (2015)
July 27, 2015 - Passing Away:
On July 27, 2015, Dr. Kalam collapsed while delivering a lecture at IIM Shillong and passed away due to cardiac arrest. His death was mourned by the entire nation, and he was given a state funeral in his hometown, Rameswaram.
