9/11/01 FDNY Manhattan Dispatch Audio - FULL
Released audio recording from 9/11/01 of FDNY Manhattan borough fire dispatch mixer during the World Trade Center terrorist attack. I tried to normalize the audio since the dispatcher side of the mixer had very low volume. I was shocked that I couldn't find this file on TH-cam. This is roughly 4 hours long. I removed the last 40 minutes of audio due to the volume being too low to hear anything, even with processing.
Remember to honor the 343 firefighters who gave their lives that day while saving others.

Port Authority knew WTC was a target, they even knew planes could be used. Yet so many were ill prepared. Not evacuating the S tower immediately when N tower was hit was inexcusable. They should have known both towers were the target and that the towers could collapse due to known issues with the building construction. Plus they were aware there were immanent threats.

The brief "Mayday" and then constant flicking of comms from 1:12:21 - 1:12:33 is shaking. And you can hear what's probably severe static, but what almost sounds like the building crashing in a few of the very brief comm flickers. They heard it coming, but by the time they tried to call it in, it was too late. Just a fraction of a second. Rest in Peace to everyone lost in this tragedy, and my deepest condolences to all those continuing to suffer the long term effects.

I went to school in Oklahoma. My American History teacher was a NYC native, and his brother was with the FDNY. He was at the scene shortly after the first tower was hit. He survived it, thank goodness. I think that's why the event fascinates me so much, it was really close to home because of that.

I've never been much of a patriot but hearing our first responders handle this tragic and stressful event helps me understand it. Rest in peace to those victims, let's not allow politicians or anti-americans soil their memory and trivialize what America went through on this day. I was six years old when this happened, and now it's in history textbooks.

This recording is the memorial. Thank you Manhattan and FDNY. If we can hear the civilian may-day over fire frequency and sit with the radio silences to fire fighters no longer with us, maybe we can appreciate the professional communication enduring and coming together.. no matter what. Forthwith. We have a responsibility today. Peace Be With You.

9:21 “Battalion Seven to Manhattan.” Battalion Chief Orio Palmer. He will head up to the 78th Floor of the South Tower, where United Airlines Flight 175 slammed into the Tower. Chief Palmer will inform dispatchers that there were “two isolated pockets of Fire…” and that he and Ladder 15 would “knock it down with two lines.” He also informed of “Numerous 10-45 Code Ones.” He would be martyred.

Something I've been very curious about regarding this recording is the whole dynamic in how the dispatch system works: So from the beginning of the video, about 0:44 to 17:25, there's that one guy at the dispatch position; then from 17:30 until 36:23, this other guy takes over the dispatch position; then from 36:24 until pretty much the end (I haven't seen this full video, so I don't know for sure), this new guy comes on, presumably John Lightsey, and takes over for a majority of the time. Can someone please explain to me how that all works?

I know based on video documentary and data that there was at least one other plane with suspected terrorists aboard. They all escaped when the captain turned the plane back to the gate and docked.

Their original plan was to hijack multiple planes and hit other targets in the US before they scaled it down.
