Nicholas Rothouse performing various excerpts for Juilliard School of Music's Pre-Screening. Special thanks to Garrett Jensen for shooting the video and editing.
Tremendous
Great ngri thanks
Nice ngri original
It's amazing how many of these native drummers are on You Tube. Equally amazing is the fact that they all sound virtually the same. I can only figure that it takes very little talent to do that.
Or you have very little talent in listening more like
@@cogybear Of course you're right - one needs a degree in listening, Forgive me for disparaging such a brilliant example of native drumming. The world is a better place because they are here.
hahahaha, go home, please, it's not the first time I see this lame comment, just stop watching those videos loser
Love Papu's sound
I've never heard of Papus Zani before. Some seriously sweet playing here! I can fully understand how it would be a favorite lesson for you. I love N'gri so much.
Iniké
this is Maddy Rodriguez
one of the best! he is my cousin! great guy. he is one of the best professionals I have ever seen!
@band nerd. thanks maddy!!!!
one of the best percussionist ever!!
Yay Nick! This is soo gooooddd
well shit. if you didn't get into juilliard with this then i'm DEFINITELY not getting in
Hey man, nice performing ! :)
So you passed the pre-screening, just not the audition? What pieces did you audition with?
How far did you make it with your audition? I feel like I would have absolutely not chance with piano.... if you didn't even make it? You are very good! I've always wanted to play the drums... I could never be that good though.
I played a vic firth etude. ( XXV ) it probably wasn't the best choice but i hadn't a lot of timpani experience at the time. if i would've known what Juilliard was looking for I would've picked different audition pieces
thank you very much :]
great job nonetheless :) you're amazing, hope you go far
Thank you so much!! I auditioned at Texas A&M Commerce, UNT, Berklee, and Juilliard and Juilliard is the one school i didnt get into. I'm attending UNT right now and love it :]
hey man all of your videos are fantastic. What school did you end up attending and what other schools did you get in too?
Im not. Didnt quite make the cut. lol
are you currently attending Juilliard?
your roll on the timpani is amazing! snare is great too :)
I didnt have to sight read for snare or mallets. but the timpani was a little weird. Honestly i dont remember much about it. it was last feb. :p sorry i wish i could help more
VERY nice technique, touch, and tone. I must say.
I heard some Vic Firth snare drum methods there! :D
this was for the recording
i did go there for the audition.
Was this an edit for TH-cam, or was it edited like this for the recording?
for Berklee did you go there and audition? Cause I heard that they dont do prescreening :/
@nickrothouse for berklee did you play the same pieces or did you do something different. And at UNT im assuming your playing percussion?
@digidrummer15 I am. I'll be a double major in performance and education.
@nickrothouse I went to unt for their drum camp. I love the campus there. Are you just studying music?
chain-kazunori miyake, prism- keiko abe, delecluse 6, and a vic firth timpani etude. I think it was the timpani that screwed me. haha
@youngergermanpope I think my mallet stuff was fine, but my timpani and basic snare technique is lacking. i would make sure your hands look comfortable at all time, and play medium lit that you can play perfectly.
@nickrothouse i guess it's not the repertoire that matters
@youngergermanpope I did. Didn't get in though. haha
did you do this for juilliard?
Very nice :)
Thanks man :] Of high school or college?
@Romns122 Haha. Thanks Jordan :]
@rylando2 I made it past pre screening but didnt get in to Juilliard. And I got into Berklee, UNT, and Texas A&M Commerce. But I'll be attending UNT in the fall :]
well they sound great. good job on the piece!
@justin64227 Actually they're called deschlers. lol. Really random but they feel great :]
innovative njz mallets?
@mjopling36 Thanks man!! How ya been? :]
Amazing performance Nick! The best I've seen yet on youtube
OMG!! You never cease to amaze me Nick! I am soooo proud of you! You have the potential to be soooo huge!! Very cool!!
@tommie997 Thanks man :] I really appreciate it
@nickrothouse Cool stuff man, you're definitely very talented. I hope you get into Juilliard, tell me if you do!
