Lord sun is still worshiping by hindues as source of energy and power, and trees like peeple, banyan, etc for good health and natural power.. You can't compare self oriented religion from Hinduism.. We respect ant to elephant, plant to trees, river to mountains, earth to stars.. Every creation of supreme lord is respected in Hinduism...

Buddha's arrival to Sri lanka may be unclear but still buddha is a living breathing person so its possible the foot print belongs to buddha rather than a metaphoric god's whose existence is doubtful. And for your information not every religion is Hindu. Before Buddhism there were no organized religion in sri lanka. That is the reason why buddhism spread so quickly all around the island because the primative spirit and object worship could not compete with an organized religion. Hinduism is also an organized religion and if hinduism was in sri lanka how da heck buddhism destroyed it??? So there is your answer. Probably you made those theories based on fictions like Ramayana but Science and facts says otherwise.
