Recently, Indonesia has been increasing its nickel production like never before, and this is having a huge impact on companies around the world that depend on nickel. The big players in places like European Union, Canada, and Australia are feeling the pressure, and some are even starting to struggle.
curently Indonesia has the highest nickel reserves in the world, coming in at 55 million metric tons and the government decided it’s time to make the most of them. They set up policies to ban the export of raw nickel and push for local processing. This move meant they could sell more refined nickel and keep more profit within the country. And because Indonesia has so much nickel, they can produce it at a lower cost, making it hard for other countries to compete. With Indonesia stepping up like this, the global nickel market has been thrown into a state of chaos.
