Exciting trackday at Zandvoort! E46 328 Overtakes Ferrari & Survives Crash | RSZ 16/09/2024
This time at Zandvoort I was following @328ReasonsToLive on track, and it ended up being quite a wild session! We overtook a lot of cars, including a Ferrari, but unfortunately I ended the session with a crash.
On the bright side, it wasn't serious and I kept driving on the next sessions, even managing to set a new PB (next video coming soon).

Full event video coming soon! This was my best lap, done right at the end of the day. The delta shows a big improvement because I had only done the initial (warm up) lap on this stint. My racechrono track wasn't super accurate, the official time was 1.09.739, which beat my previous best by 4 tenths and made me P5 in the Class 10 (modified, over 2L engine displacement). For the second session of the day I lowered tyre temps a bit, but I believe I still had the shocks on the street settings. Couldn't really get a clear lap in, and the session felt like it went by super fast. This was my first session of the day, and my first time with this car at the track. We arrived at the track with very little time to spare (if you were there, you might remember the line at the entrance), so I was still running the street tire pressures (too high) and shock settings (too soft). This was my first ever drift event, the Dutch Drift League Funday at Circuit Midland! Having only the previous experience from drifting in sims like Assetto Corsa and BeamNG, I was amazed at how comfortable I felt with the car - the skills transfer well and overall it feels easier in real life as you have a lot more feedback from the car and g forces. First session of the day, the car was exactly the same as the previous trackday - except for a new windshield. I wanted to get a few solid laps in on this first session, and try suspension adjustments on the next sessions. Sadly, we ran into brake issues - the rear brake pads wore prematurely (they were at about 50% before the session), and you can see when they "end" at 9:14. At the time I tho...

This was the final session of the day. After building up some confidence on the 2 previous sessions, I was ready for more action - and this session certainly delivered. This time it was my friend Don Hermans in the passenger seat - besides building the car, his experience and guidance gave me confidence to explore and extract more from the car. Huge thanks bud! Getting better and better 🚀🚀 Other driver was wrong no questions about it, he closed on you when you were already half car in. Rentals should be forbidden in sport and sport+ sessions. Big mistake of instrutor here, putting his customer and others at danger for a couple of bucks

It looks like these rental cars with student drivers drive in every session type, i.e. Tour, Sport, Sport+. I think the best strategy is to be very careful around them. And also avoid Toer sessions.

Yea we have some! Hopefully I'll have some time editing it this weekend. We do have some necessary (suspension+performance) upgrades, because the body roll is pretty bad when stock. Other than that, nothing to complain 😁

Oohh awesome! I lost my footage of this part of the session but i had a bit of a battle with you guys up until the double yellow :) I was behind you guys from around 4:00, then i messed up the corner of 4:25 (car slid out a bit), but got back on your tail. Then at 5:20 unfortunately your driver ignored the yellow so i fell behind again. But then at 6:52 i was finally able to pass you for a little bit, but had to brake earlier. Was a ton of fun though!

@@GardigoRacing Oh it's my daily driver :) i just got different pads & rotors, MeisterR GT1 coilovers (sounds aggressive, but it's their ohlins r&t equivalent) and 225/40/18 wheels. This was the first time i drove with the new coilovers and wheels and the grip was absolutely insane
