Why are operators always creepy looking where ever you go in world.
Nowadays they are decommissioning some of this kit, and they are picking up the entire topside onto one vessel and transporting it to shore for scrap, forty years and a whole generation of specialist massive rigs later.
I was on there in 2011 for 18 months . This is very interesting
On the Beryl 1976. KCA Drilling. Roustabout. Small world, on the Beryl 2 hours met David Steele from the same town Bonnyrigg….
5 years of my life went into BerlyB. Got C.Eng with all the boxes ticked with BerylB work Hammersmith, UIE Cherbourg, Cleveland Offshore, Redpath and KCA Drilling in Lincoln, Motherwell Bridge Flareboom AOCI Hookup. Now Bechtel pension comes in every month :-)
I was an apprentice welder at Cleveland offshore working on it …
Incredible engineering and such huge risk involved from start to finish. 👍
Wow. Nostalgia! Is it possible for me to use and share this footage on my youtube page? I share footage from all kind of activities on our ocean. Cargo ships in the 1960s till now, oil rigs, fishing vessels, etc. Of course full credit will be given to the owner of the footage. Looking forward to your reply. Kind regards. Cheers.
I have no issues. It does not belong to me. The video was produced written and directed for Mobil by Michael Forlong. I found it on a video CD disc and uploaded it to TH-cam. I thought it might be of interest to others. Note: I think there was a copyright issue on some of the music but as I do not generate income it has not been a problem.
@@idstens I hear you! Thanks for the elaboration!
Hi Lian! Hi! Is it possible for me to use and share this footage on my own youtube page? I share footage from all kind of activities on our ocean. Cargo ships in the 1960s till now, oil rigs, fishing vessels, etc. Of course full credit will be given to the owner of the footage. Looking forward to your reply. Kind regards! It's interesting to hear you've worked on the rig!
The video was probably made for MOBIL Norths Sea, years ago. I found it copied to an old Video CD, so I uploaded to TH-cam in case anyone was interested. I have no problems with you sharing.
All I remember was how god awful it was there ....found a leak on the ESD valve ,they had to shut down to fix it ....they were angry at me because they lost a few hours production... miserable c**ts
My first rig
Dear Lord, most of these wonderful men are dead by now.
TS 42 TOUGH
I was on the post hook up of the Beryl Alpha and was on the platform for 4 years unfortunately i was there when the slue ring faild on one on the cranes and it slipped into the sea killing the crane operator, also when the Utility leg flooded , and Samson Diver recovery vessel crashed into the platform tough times indeed we used to Hot bed as well Al Harper
i worked on the Beryl Alpha and Bravo in the early 90's. Good places to work, nice people and very comfortable compared to a lot of rigs/platforms. Miss it and i don't at the same time.
Consider it a excutive account with Joel Ezekiel Bruce.
IT. SMDs main control systems Screen displays .repairs on site needed. 2_3 tons of beef stew with potatoes per ship per day.
My first Rig
So much precision and preparation goes into this larger than life building & movement of these oil field structures.
I was a Roughneck on the Beryl A from 1976. Happy days. I remember you Ray Wolfsbauer. Hope all's well.
Anyone know- What year was this video made?
Brilliant
Work on the rig 1979 to1983 the boys of stoke on Trent happy days
britains oil ???
Yes, you jocks do as we tell you ;-)
@@Ben-ks5bm you deserve a mouthful of scottish dandruff for that comment
You understand that you are part of Britain?
Worked there in the late 80's and early 90's as a young medic. Polyconfidence, then Polycastle provided accommodation while major works were done to the platform. Fond memories of those days.
Never missed getting a red eye
First job offshore 44 years ago.......worked there from 1980 - 82. made some amount of money for MNSL in its hey day
8:32 "in the deserted quarry behind his house, he rides his motorcycle, an avid trials rider, his wife an avid spectator.." ahhh the simple life of the past.
Wow!!!...two Scottish voices
Worked on the hook up for Blandford Offshore on Beryl B 1983 1984 good memories.
Me to only 82 83
I miss the beryls only two rigs I’ll go back too.
Work on alpha & bravo back in 2012 love it miss the old place.
My first trip was on Beryl B in 1984 went from there to the Clyde in 1987 was there for 32 years. Finished offshore 2019 after 35 years.
Do you remember a Kiwi called Peter Gurr? Electrician from 1981 until 2000's on Beryl Bravo. It was KCA / Mobil back then.
Did he have glasses? I can picture him if it’s the same guy. Remember a few guys, one of the drillers was Tommy Adams, Pancho Hernandez’s think he was the assistant driller, Arthur the store man, Peter Alphabet gave out the cabins, Martin Boyle was one of the medics, the camp bosses were Mike Scott and Mike fletcher, big Matt the head chef. You had a good laugh back then, not like that now. So glad I finished up last year, 35 years is long enough.
He did have glasses, quite short 5'8" moustache, lived in Wales. Lovely fella. You've done your time pal. Earnt your retirement. Thanks for the reply.
I was Captain of the Matco Avon for 5 years I set a record loading in a force 9 gales staying on the loading point for 4 four hours and loading enough cargo to prevent the shutting down of production. That was in December 1984.
I used to work on the Beryl Alpha 1990 to 2007 and watch the tankers connect in all weathers. Occasionally we had trips over to SPM 2 & 3 to carry inspection work. SPM 1 had an unfortunate incident a few years earlier when it floated away. The Maersk Rover standby boat was sometimes used to pick up the SPM messenger line.
Greetings, Keith. Hope you are well!
Thanks for sharing. I almost had the opportunity to work on this field a few years back.
супер спасибо интересно
Work on rig 1979 to 1983 good days
Amazing!
I have just watched that. Whilst sitting in my room onboard the very same platform! November 2018
I was going to ask if that platform is still around lol
Same here haha. Aug 2022
Engineering at work!
These survival suits were horrible. Especially when you got into one on the rig, which someone else had been wearing for a few hours.
My first trip offshore was also on the Beryl B
scary that i done my 1st trip offshore on the beryl bravo august 2013
Look closely at 6 seconds, the rear wheel looks like its about to pop off!!
