After seeing SNW "Charades" I AM CONVINCED that "Amok time" was totally T'Pring's mother's idea!! For 60 years T'Pring's actions were vilified and she was labeled a F'N bitch... But after "Charades" we now know it was her momma THE WHOLE TIME!!!

Because all Vulcans can do the Vulcan pinch, they don’t use it among themselves when they fight passionately-they want to work out anger, so they want to keep the fight going long enough to fully work through the passion. Like Inigo Montoya fighting the Man in Black with his left hand, so the fight will not be over too quickly, and will be unsatisfying. It’s also possible that Vulcan nerve pinches simply don’t work on Vulcans, so they forget it’s there and they don’t think to use it (Spock wasn’t exactly firing on all thrusters during the blood flame).

Because Vulcan is a volcanic planet with high gravity, its crust is so poor in usable metals, the Vulcans actually had to develop space flight to get hold of metals from their asteroid belt before they could fully industrialize. That’s why the metallic objects used in the wedding ceremony are so fragile that the Vulcans can break them just by knocking into them. Of course, the Vulcans were still two thousand years away from governing their passions at that point, so asteroid-based uranium enabled several nuclear wars to be fought.

Just how much leeway does Kirk have in a matter like this? Does anyone back at Starfleet take a look at this and scream, "You did what!" Kahn and his people take over the Enterprise, threaten to kill Kirk and his crew, and Kirk is like, "ahh, I'll let it slide." Kirk could have at least had the decency to leave a warning beacon satellite in orbit around the planet, so that some other unsuspecting space faring race doesn't stumble across Kahn's group and become victims. It's fun to imagine a couple of low level studio workers up there, taking turns to see who can hit "Captain Kirk" in the head with a Tribble. Kirk at the end worried about beaming the Tribbles into space, but what do you think the Klingons did with them?

Glad Cassie called Kirk out for his chewing on MacGivers. She drooled over one dude, but other than that, she provided plenty of necessary information while they were on the Botany Bay. She did fine.

Now this is a nice concept. I've seen sites like YoureMrLebowski do great work with various reactors to pivotal scenes in major movies, but great TV episodes with cult followings deserve love too -- plus it helps that I already know all three of these reactors. It's great to see Alex and Josh pumped up over DeForest Kelley making it into the opening credits, as well as the arrival of Chekov.

i went to Vulcan Alberta, i did a tour of the museum it was great! it was not busy so i got a tour with the owners of it so awesome!

This is the reaction after (shock and sadness of Edith's death, Captain Kirk being devastated & the eerie feeling hearing the wind houl as everyone beamed aboard). Everyone I knew who saw this had all these emotions hit. I saw ST in syndication when I was 7. I really got hooked when ST:TAS started two years later.

As great as the story is I wouldn't put this as one of my favorite episodes. Not even the top 5. I enjoyed it more after I watched it numerous times. At first, I took it a just another reason for Kirk to push a love story. That said, I like that McCoy gets to Rock
