Looks to me like you hit a deaf deer.
351 is OK 460 crazy horrible gas mileage 5.0 is junk two best motors in these by FAR the 7.3 powers powerstroke if you got a fat wallet and like expensive maintenance bills and the ol bulletproof 4.9L inline 6 those two motors took Ford trucks past 350 thousand miles more than any other Ford truck motor to date
@@MarylandStreetcarsandBikes I love the 300 and the 351. 302 belongs in cars. 460 is a great engine if paired to a 5 speed. But with a 4 speed or an automatic it's just a fuel guzzler.
Good enough for girls I date. Lmao
Those Ford vans don’t have the best brakes. New to your channel.
@@ChristopherArmstrong-et3ud welcome to the channel! The shorty Van stops on a dime. But the fluid in the campers brakes is absolutely horrible. I'll be replacing the master cylinder and flushing the system this next summer.
Last my pops drove was a 1980s Dodge 10-15 passenger van. I dig this.

That ID-OD is always a pain here in Missouri. 😣
@@HODGEPODGEDODGEGARAGE yeah I wish they would do away with it. I understand the safety inspection but the ID/OD is pretty pointless. Especially on old vehicles.

Great projects.
Back in the day my friends dad had a 2500 Ford van with a 460, we hauled our dirt bikes around with it. Great memories, have fun on your journey good sir!
That camper van would be great for my horror movie.
Kinda jealous. I've had a few. Miss em
@@roothogordie2391 these are the 4th and 5th ones I've had. Good Vans if they are taken care of.
That shorty is solid! 😎👍
@@HODGEPODGEDODGEGARAGE thank you! Wait until you see how the Camper cleans up!
@@shadygingergarage Hopefully you will work on the mechanicals for the camper first. I may be a future buyer but my interior ideas likely wouldn't be the same as yours. If you can get it in tip top running condition will we be allowed to bid on it? New sub here. Hopefully you can save some of these old gems. I'll keep watching content like this. Thanks
Unfortunately the next video isn't the will it run, but it's coming. I'm dictated by time, weather, and budget. Based on service records I found it shouldn't be hard to get it running. The fluids all look great. As for selling it, we will see. My Wife likes the rig.
@@shadygingergarage No worries. Make sure you give it a very thorough inspection for rust once you can get it up on a lift and see the undercarriage. Excessive rust is usually the deal breaker for alot of these older vehicles. I'll be following along as a new sub. Thanks.
From what I've seen so far the common problem spots are good. Unfortunately the foot/step wells are suffering from the wet carpet so the carpet will be coming out of the rig.
Awesome! glad to see you posting some stuff already on it!
@@Alderonn10 yeah, I tend to get right to it

Hey I have a genuine question , you’ve said you’ve done multiple obs bumpers so I figured you would know, I have a 1999 Chevy Tahoe LT z71 2 door obs the front bumper was bent in the left and pulled out from the right side sitting crooked so we got everything tooken off and replaced the bumper brackets and bolts and we got everything back together and it’s still bent to the left and pulled from the right only difference is there’s no dents lol. Just curious to see if you knew why . Thank you
Do you know what it could be?
@@daddylazr_6975 without looking at it I'd say either the brackets are bent or they are not adjusted correctly. I loosen all of the brackets at both ends. Then I get the bumper where I want it. Then I tighten everything down. It's a giant pain in the ass but it's the best way.
@ I just replaced the brackets there brand new oem
@@daddylazr_6975 yeah, it's tough to say without looking at it. I can't imagine the frame is damaged. That would be obvious. The front third of the frame on these trucks are pretty beefy
Your smoking crank dude. You can definitely get out and help. I’d the guy messes up it’s his fault. Stop being a fool
IT'S SAD BUT YOU ARE 100% CORRECT. I LEARNED THAT IN THE EARLY 90'S. AFTER 2 DRIVER'S SAID IT WAS MY FAULT ( THANKFULLY THERE WAS WITNESSES SAID I DID EVERYTHING I COULD TO STOP THEM ) . IF NOT FOR THAT THE COP'S WAS GOING TO CHARGE ME. SOOO NO MO HELP FROM ME UNLESS I KNOW THEM. AND DON'T PAY FELIX NO MIND. HE JUST MOUTH !!!.
@@albertmccroan9100 I've had guys try to "help" guide me into spaces and it just adds problems to the job. Now I gotta not hit these trucks AND worry about the guy walking around my trailer. It's much worse at night. I'd rather do 50 pull ups or find another space than deal with a guy doing hand signals in the dark he thinks I can see. I've been backing trailers for 25 years. I didn't build the skills I have by being led by the hand. I know I'm gonna get some hate on this video but it's gonna come from guys who either don't understand how the world has become or guys that have no sense of responsibility. I hate seeing new drivers struggle but it's also great to see them succeed on their own.
Unless u signed something before helping them that would never hold up
That is completely false, stick to driving trucks you're no lawyer.
Thats bullshit. Stop pushing a false narrative. The person driving the vehicle is always liable hence why coming over the port, you get the ticket not your trainer. Stop being a weiner and school. It takes a community. Every old trucker wants to tell you how big you are an idiot and how this generation...ect but will absolutely not be helpful to those trying to do a decent respectable career.
This is the sad truth
No you're not you just walk away into the darkness....
😂😂😂
I love that you're using Chevy floor mats...perfect for dirty boots. Nice review man!
Isn't the big opening supposed to be towards the car? Lol
Just bought a 1996 super duty 460 auto dually bucket truck that sat for a few years. After an extensive, wash down six tires, front and rear breaks front and rear shocks, front rear brake lines, and hoses. Throw in one ecm. And the truck chassy It's nice at 12800 miles. Only thing left to do is diamond plate in the bed, hoses on the hydraulic system and extension cylinder in the boom. Bought for $4500. I do all my own work. These trucks in good working condition.Go for $10-15,000. I'm all in currently about $7,000. My biggest recommendation, if your computer hasn't been touched even if it's not giving you problems, get it fixed ASAP.
instead of a 98 thru 24, id take a 65 thru 95 xlt long bed 2 wheel drive 351w 5 speed.all the truck id ever need.for the price & trouble for a new one, you could build 2 or 3 older more reliable ones.
@@timkis64 I'm looking at an 88 F150 this week. Regular cab long bed 2wd, 300-6/5spd
Pushrod gasket pain in the a** 😢 4.9L , once you start digging you find everything it's need it , but very cool trucks becoming iconic and classic now
Why is it called the Meth 150? Is it because it had meth in it?
Fucking beautiful man i like it just like im sure many ppl do, i want to ask though has it been reliable? Ive heard most v4 engines are trash
@@OS-qd5wo I sold this particular Fox. However, I've had SEVERAL 2.3 powered Mustangs and Rangers. In the Mustang they seem to last FOREVER. But EVERY ranger I've had suffered from bent Valves.
Thanks for the insight and that's weird considering they're both the same engines
@@OS-qd5wo indeed
Inline 4 here. Not v4 Although there is cars with v4s. But not usually in America.
I have a 92 Bronco 351W E4OD. It is the biggest piece of shit I have ever owned. It is awesome when it works right, but something always goes wrong with the stupid electronics. That POS transmission is tied into everything.
@@relevation0 4x4 trucks can have a pretty hard life. Good chance your truck may have been in some deep water. Or if you are in an area where they salt the roads it could be a corroded connection issue. I've been pretty lucky with the E4OD transmissions I've had. But I've heard plenty of horror stories too.
How did you get the stock fuel pump able to feed enough fuel. My new car wasn't getting enough pair so I'm looking at upgrading the pump.
@@lowkeyfanboy this was a factory Iroc. That means it had tuned port fuel injection. We actually had to step the fuel pressure DOWN with a regulator. Btw, I DO NOT recommend the "Mr Gasket" fuel pressure regulator. It doesn't reduce the pressure enough.
13 mpg on that 351, even with the 5 spd manual. I had a F-250 with a 460 and barely got 8 mpg. It was horrible to the point where I didn't even want to drive it and this was even with the cheap gas prices of the 90s.
I had a truck exactly like that. I sure wish I still had it, and yes the manual is the way to go!
@@Musictroper76 I'm looking for another one myself. Trying to find an extended cab 4x4 with manual transmission. I'll take either the 300-6 or a 351. Unfortunately the 351/5spd combo with a manual transmission is pretty rare.
@@shadygingergarage Do you remember the 300 I6 with 4 spd combo and manual looking hubs? Pair one of those with a short bed 4X4 with all of that torque and you have a good trail runner!
@@Musictroper76 indeed. I had that in a long bed about 7 years ago
Just the video I was looking for. Very helpful
im about to go look at one today its up for 7k looks mint 101kmiles 4x4 v8 on it hes willing to take $6500 for it but im not sure it's worth that much, it is 2024 now and inflation is crazy so idk if i should pick it up or not for that price🤔
@@jeyfro just look it over thoroughly but be willing to walk away. Getting emotionally attached will just blind you to issues and cost you money.
@@shadygingergarage thank you it's just i see all these vids where they pick these trucks up for dirt cheap in similar condition or slightly worse and all i'm seeing is 5-7k for them, but true i'll keep my want emotions out of it and be more logical about it i just need a work truck 👌
@@jeyfro prices vary based on what part of the country you are in. I'm in the Midwest and 87-96 Ford's in ok condition go for $1500-$2500. But really nice ones are selling for $5000-$7500. Out east they bring around $10k.

Are you a tweaker? Looks like that car has really been tweaked
@@raychoat285 oh I assure you, the car was butchered before I got it. That's why we had to half ass a carb onto it. The car has since been sold to a friend who is LS swapping it. The 350 this car had in the video is now in his sons 78 K10 with a far better set of heads, intake, and carb.
Red and white f250 with regular cab and 8 foot bed will always be the best looking truck. Stock height also.
i want this truck in black for my first truck once i turn 16 in a couple of months. they're so good
This would have been a great help when I had to replace mine - really great shot and explanation. I can testify that the airbox and battery removal make it somewhat easier too. I'd love to see a good shot of where the termerature sensor is in this, too. There are a lot of sensors up there, and something this clear would be a big help if you know of a place to look. I see lots of other cars, but not the Rondo - and by the way, mine is almost 340k miles and still running pretty well! Thanks for a bookmarkable vid!
@@PixSmith01 you're welcome!! I couldn't find any videos when I went to do this job so I figured I would make one. Thermostat, battery, and brakes are all I've had to touch on this Rondo in the 2 years I've owned it.
@@shadygingergarage I am not making this up - I would say I treat this car with benign neglect, and I got it with 26,000 miles on it two model years old (It had been hiding from the repo man evidently for a year or so) and I've only had to replace the radiator, preventative timing belt, and believe it or not, brakes - once. To say I am an easy driver and let the engine do much of the work (plus I find it a personal best to never hit a stop light, LOL) is an understatement. I sometimes think it was a test car that accidentally got out of the factory. If anyone is looking for a thermostat how to, this one is great.
@@PixSmith01 my sister owned mine for 6 years and beat the hell out of it. Then I grabbed it from her for $1000 and have treated it like a small truck. It's been a damn good rig.
When they ask "what's the lowest you'll take for it?" I reply "what's the highest you'll pay?". The fools usually get the message. :)
Yep. I’m not bidding against myself. Make me an offer.
It depends how fast you were going. If it’s not one of the battery-operated ones, the whistle sound wont reach the deer until it’s already in the road. If I’m driving in an area where I know there’s deer I typically don’t go over 45. I see deer stop at the ditch and run back into the woods all the time. I use the little jet engine-looking ones.
