A timelapse captured from a forward-facing suite on the P&O Iona on the 23rd August 2023. After leaving Hellesylt we cruised along Sunnylvsfjorden on our way to Haugesund. This timelapse was captured over a 2 hour period (I'd have recorded for longer if the battery had held out!).

Part 6: Our last port of call is Haugesund. We have a quick look around the town which is a mixture of traditional and modern, browse a very random store called Krimz Kramz, and then stroll back to the ship over the bridge to the port. Recorded on the 24th August 2023 during cruise G328 to the Norwegian Fjords which departed Southampton on the 19th August 2023.

Sunday Afternoon Sailing at Tata Steel Sailing Club

Margam World War 2 Radar Station and an Explosion at the Steelworks?

Another dry Sunday morning, another dog walk. This time we explored the hills overlooking Port Talbot, walking past the remains of a chapel and exploring inside some old world war 2 radar station buildings. I love the captain hHudson hoodie🙂
:) I bought that especially for this holiday! A trip to the arctic circle needed warm clothing.
What are examples of "non" premium desserts?
Literally everything else that's sweet on the ship :) If you want ice cream, they sometimes have it in the buffet, it's available in the main dining rooms, and the same coffee place that makes the premium desserts also offer free ice creams too. For cake, there's literally anything you could dream up :)
What a fun video!! Thanks for taking 9 for the team. LOL My husband and I want to try some of them on our upcoming cruise, but we will be splitting them...I don't think I could handle a entire one at one sitting. But who knows after the first one we shall see.
I’m glad you enjoyed the video! I’m sure you’ll work your way through them during your holiday. Plan carefully though because quite often there are nicer desserts in the International Cafe than these premium ones so you have to make a judgement call!
Ugh. Glacé cherries in Black Forest Gateaux! Sorry but that breaks my baking heart, should be lovely juicy black cherries. The chocolate gateaux looks better but maybe they used buttercream and not simply slightly sweetened chocolate flavoured whipped cream, which is how I make it. You'd be surprised at how much cake some people can eat though.
Yeah there should have been a lot more black cherry jam in it I think to be more authentic. So that's the only slice I personally had, but other people in my group had some on other days and it was slightly different - considerably more alcoholic I'm told!
@@TorAndOli Yeah, in theory it should have Kirsch in it - although I hate alcohol, so I wouldn't use it:) If I make it these days I get the preserved cherries from Aldi, rather than use jam. Maybe the cake got stale and alcohol was used to moisten it! As a keen amateur baker for many years, I'm often disappointed with restaurant baked goods.
Thank you for the excellent video! We’re planning to take a similar cruise that starts in Southampton and ends in Boston. From Boston we’ll got home to San Francisco, California.
Wow that sounds like a long cruise! I’ve done one transatlantic before on the QM2 and it was amazing! Enjoy :)
Wonderful information, I am not much of cake or sweets but I didn’t know you can get the slices of cake at no additional cost with your plus or premier package. Great tip!
When they're included they're great - not sure I'd actually pay for any of them directly though because there's so many other nice things to try on board included!
missing hot fudge and nuts!
Definitely hot fudge was needed!
th-cam.com/video/QqQtV7wHSV0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=e1xRz0OTq2tvCf-l Interesting 🧐 analysis 🧐
Thanks!
No problem!
Love your style!
Thank you!!
New subscriber! Enjoyed your sense of humor-hope you review some of the other foods, especially the premium dinners! Thank you for your great work
Thank you very much! When I next go back on a ship I shall certainly review as much as I can :)
Fantastic information. Thanks for the visuals.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for reviewing these premium desserts; I was wondering about them, and my sweet tooth thanks you. BTW, is that Captain Hudson on your hoodie?
Yup that’s Emma’s captain :)
How could anyone eat two a week, much less two per day?
They are really good though :)
This is good info! Since I can’t have ice cream, I will go for the cake❤️
The cakes are nice, but when you see the array of non-premium sweet treats available at the International Cafe you will probably be tempted to go with a plated selection of those instead, they are all so nice!
Great content! I really enjoyed both of your Princess food review videos! Pro Tip: at the Salty Dog Grill you can request grilled onions (instead of raw onion), I find this really elevates the grilled flavor of the burger!
Thanks for the tip, I'll try that next time I'm on a Princess cruise :)
You had a tough job but someone had to do it. On my last Princess Cruise I only ate one Ice cream dessert. There is too much food to eat a premium dessert
I was on there 16 nights and they counted as my lunches. I think if I hadn’t been reviewing them then I probably wouldn’t have eaten as many because you are right there is so much else to eat!
Thank you for this! We are going on Royal Princess in November with the premium package so look forward to trying these for a treat!
Enjoy your holiday!
Are they milkshakes or ice cream?
Just ice creams
Thank you for sharing! Hubby and I occasionally will share a slice of the cake. We also liked the Black Forest cake. Now on the ice creams, I tasted one of the Hubby's and thought it was dramatic in view but just okay in flavor.
I agree, they need to hire me as their sundae designer. I’d have surprises running all the way through!
Just checking, with the Plus package, is it two premium desserts, or two per day?
It’s two per day
@@TorAndOli Thank you so much! The wording on the app felt like it was just 2 in total, like with the 2 total casual dining freebies.
My goodness I can’t imagine eating that! And two a day! Never.
I never actually ate more than 1 in a day. Shhh, don't tell Princess, but I may have shared my allowance with my children :)
Excellent food reviews! Good tip re doneness, and I’ll be sure to specify well done on my upcoming Princess cruise burgers.
Thanks! I ordered all burgers with no special requests so as I could see what the “defaults” were
We just returned 5 days ago from an Alaskan cruise with Princess cruises. Had a great time. Of all the lines we’ve cruised with, I really think Princess does food the best. And I love that they have a 3 o’clock tea on sea days. As for those huge pieces of cake, they were giving pieces away for free on our last day at sea. I got the Red Velvet and hubby got the chocolate so we could taste both. The pieces are huge, and neither of us could finish our pieces. BTW: Not sure where any of you may be sailing, but you may want to seriously consider wearing a mask if it’s anywhere in the Pacific Northwest because out of the 8 of us traveling together, 6 of us are now sick. My hubby and I tested positive for Covid. We had sniffles the day we disembarked, and tested positive the next day. It’s surging now in this area. My niece works at a hospital in the S.F. South Bay, and she says it’s also surging there and they are expecting it to continue as kids return to school.
We have no plans for a next sail yet but thanks for the tip. I know the latest variant has been running right through the UK over the last month or so because I know so many people who have tested positive for it. I’m still one of those who has never had a positive test for it!
@@TorAndOli I am an at-risk 75 year old woman. Hubby and I have been vaccinated and had all the boosters, plus we got the vaccination against the RSV (or whatever that other flu is!) I am glad we did, cuz it is keeping the symptoms relatively mild. Glad you’ve stayed clear of it. It can be challenging for those who like to travel. I think I’d rather have a moderate case of Covid than that Noro Virus that goes around ships! At least we were ‘t sick while on board. Stay safe, and happy sailings!
The Trident Grill on the Lido deck was my go to burger spot on our last two Alaskan cruises. I ate there quite a bit, the only place beating it out was Alfredo’s for the pizza. This was on the Royal Princess, so no Salty Dog.
I've heard a lot of good things about Alfredos. Slices was very nice on Caribbean Princess but I've heard Alfredos is the best.
There is NO such thing as too big of a piece of cake. Come on :) And you didn't have to eat it all.
Yeah I did :)
Ice cream and toppings aren’t premium desserts as far as I see it, especially with a lollipop on top. Ridiculous concept. I suppose you could actually share the cakes with someone else.
I think the concept of these desserts could count as premium, but I also think they need more effort to the inside of the glass to be really premium. I think I could design some better premium desserts with a few small tweaks!
awesome capt. hudson sweater! - excuse me- jumper! ;D
10 bonus points to you for noticing the Hidden Hudson :) It's a hoodie actually in this case, but that's just a jumper with a hood!
I have a sweet tooth but this is wayyy too extreme even for me
Well I did spread them out over a whole week :)
The hazelnut bar is a dessert in the dining room on one night. It's a very pretty dessert with the way they present the thin chocolate ends that gives it the look of a Viking ship, and oh, so, delicious.
I’ve just Google images searched that, it looks amazing! Right, that settles it, I’ll have to book another cruise to try that.
@@TorAndOli did it still look like a Viking ship? It was one of the yummiest desserts, not to sweet but very chocolatey.
Yup, looked like a bar with chocolate horns at each end
Nice cruise report thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
How about reviewing all the speciality dining options for princess plus or premium packages. Your reviews are great. Thank you
Thank you and I'd love to - there's a review of the Salty Dog Grill in my last vlog (th-cam.com/video/f_Bv5mHXWZg/w-d-xo.html ) but in order to review others I'd need to go back on other ships and that starts getting expensive :) Maybe next time!
Fun watching you eat all the premium desserts. We are going on a princess cruise soon with the plus package. I appreciate all the reviews you gave plus all the calories you had to consume. Less calories for me. Hahaha, Better check your cholesterol soon. Thanks
I took one for the team :) Good point, I think I’m due a medical!
Black forest cake is my absolute favorite
I was very surprised I enjoyed it as much as I did. Someone else in my family had it too and their slice was extremely alcoholic - I'm not a big fan of alcoholic desserts so I think I struck it lucky with a mild slice!
I wasn’t impressed with Black Forest-not enough cherries and frosting too sweet.
Can you just get a scoop of gelato?
Yup! And another viewer has just advised me it’s $2.50 if you’re not on the plus/premium package.
Your Premium Desserts video reeled me and the husband in, and we both subscribed, because we are so excited to have a really quality Princess Cruise video channel! Thank you!
Thank you for subscribing!
I loved the Leaning Tower as well!! I think my husband had The Godfather and loved it! If you don't get the Plus or Premium package, I believe that the gelato at the Regal Princess "Gelato" only charged $2.50 for a scoop and like you said, you could go to the Horizon Buffet dessert area to put pie or cheesecake on top!
"Gelato" on the Regal Princess was right across the Piazza from the International Cafe, both on Deck 5 and the Agnolatti at Alfredo's was just above on Deck 6. I am so glad you love Princess Cruises, too! My husband and I are quite pleased, because it is hard to find a good channel that covers Princess. Tony Barnett cruises Regal mostly (La Lido Loca), but I think he might have been on your Greenland and Iceland cruise late July/early August. I know he know WheresWalterTravel, hopefully you know him and perhaps Ben and David, because you are all so polite, such nice guys!
Hi! I'm glad you like the videos - I hope you're not too disappointed though, we don't get to travel too often so the videos will be sporadic. There are a couple of vlogs about the cruise I have released, and I also sailed with P&O UK last year too so there are vlogs from that. It's true, Tony was indeed on our sailing but I didn't realise until I got back and didn't see him on-board. I'm going through all of my raw video footage to see if he's snuck in the background somewhere! I don't personally know Ben and David but I have watched every one of their videos, they are brilliant!
Great, fun review! Sailing on the Emerald Princess in October and I'll be sure to test out your recommendations! Cheers!
Have fun!
We've been on the Caribbean Princess 3 times since 2022 most recently May of 2024 (Europe) and we've seen how worn the ship has become. I'm going to show my wife your videos. Right now, she has no interest in doing your itinerary and I do, so maybe you can change her mind
Iceland and Greenland are stunning places to visit - we were originally booked to visit there in 2020 which was cancelled of course. This time of year is isn't too cold either (for Brits anyway). Sunshine cruises are ok, but I much prefer to see amazing scenery.
Thanks for this review! We set sail on the Crown Princess next Monday heading out to Alaska, so I’ll know which desserts to consider and avoid now.
If you’re on there long enough then try them all! :)
Now I know what they do with unused cheesecake
Why would there ever be leftover cheesecake!!
Yes, cake! That’s what I’m looking forward to trying. I like cake better than ice cream with all this stuff on top!
Better still, cake WITH ice cream :)
Chocolate or Black Forrest cake and a cup of decaf coffee was a favorite late in the day treat on our most recent cruise. Our favorite location to enjoy these premium cake desserts was our cabin, enjoying the balcony.
I’d definitely love to try and chocolate cake again, but this time with some ice cream!
Wow. Those cookies look dangerous.
Famished Bakehouse! Available from Swansea Bay market or by mail order if you’re in the UK
Thanks for doing the research. I am on a Princess cruise in two weeks and i wanted to find a good burger and fries.
Keep your eyes on the buffet because I’ve seen in videos from proper TH-camrs since that they had a build-your-own burger station in the buffet one day. I totally missed that and am gutted!
Everything looked delicious but I think I am going to have the ice cream instead of the cake. Thanks for a great preview.
Fair enough! If I were to go back I'd grab one of those large premium cakes, a big bowl from the buffet, and one of the ice creams and combine them together to make The Ultimate Premium Dessert (trademark me)
I thoroughly enjoyed this review. It was honest ,straightforward and informative!, looking forward to your next one about the burgers, i also am going on my first ever cruise, to alaska in 13 days on princess and this was great info..your a natural at this!! Thank you, great video ❤❤❤
Thank you, glad you liked it! The burgers one is already out, you can see it here: th-cam.com/video/TByOCU9PugQ/w-d-xo.html. Enjoy your holiday, I'm certain you'll love it!
Loved this video - very informative and you have a nice relaxed style and sense of humor. Subscribed.
Thank you, I appreciate that!
Took him til the end to call the layers of the chocolate cake “sponge”
Cake is cake… you shove it in ya gob and enjoy regardless of what it’s called :)
