Random DOS Game Show 935: Crystal Ball (1988)
Lawnie gazes into his crystal ball and discovers that this novelty game will... not be good!

Random DOS Game Show #934: 3-K Trivia (1984)
มุมมอง 879 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
A CGA PC Booter quiz game with multiple categories. 3-K Trivia is well-presented and does a good job, with a slot machine picking the category options and the ability to add your own custom questions to the mix! Lawnie has an abysmal run and gets very few questions right, because he's a TH-camr.
Random DOS Game Show #933: Asteroid Pilot (1982)
มุมมอง 9312 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
A single-button game from the dawn of the IBM PC age! Navigate your pilot through a field of procedurally-generated asteroids using nothing but the shift key! Lawnie explains what's been going on with his audio lately, and an unexpected guest makes a surprise appearance.
Random DOS Game Show #932: GobMan (1992)
มุมมอง 14114 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Filipe Mateus comes up with the original idea of having a round dot-munching hero go through a maze while being chased by ghosts. Lawnie plays it for almost ten minutes and tells his audience twice what it's a clone of because he is tired. Enough said? Enough said.
Random DOS Game Show #931: Space Assault (2017)
มุมมอง 123วันที่ผ่านมา
Another fixed-screen shooter! This time there's no sound, it's in text mode, and it's from 2017! Lawnie still attempts to glean some enjoyment from it and is mostly successful in doing so. This was probably made for a Czech game jam, so he's not too harsh with it.
Random DOS Game Show #930: Zapshot (1986)
มุมมอง 85วันที่ผ่านมา
A single developer fixed screen top-down shoot 'em up in glorious CGA mode. Zapshot has momentum, energy mechanics, and uses the F9 key to fire, because of course! Is it any good? Lawnie discovers there are clear shortcomings preventing it from being an arcade-style classic, but it's not too shabby all the same!
Random DOS Game Show #929: Liberty or Death (1993)
มุมมอง 211วันที่ผ่านมา
An unfortunate and heavily-edited playthrough of a decidedly average war game from Koei that covers the American Revolutionary War. Lawnie fails to get to grips with the interface, is slaughtered in the battle engine, and is interrupted multiple times. Not a terrible game, but nothing special.
Random DOS Game Show #928: Blockout (1989)
มุมมอง 649วันที่ผ่านมา
This Tetris variant looks a lot like Welltris at first glance with its 3D grid-based playing field, but Blockout is a different beast entirely. Granted, the perspective and the increased spacial awareness required make it almost unplayable for a befuddled Lawnie, but there's a lot to like here for fans of block-based puzzlers! It won't create any converts to the genre, but it's a good example o...
Random DOS Game Show #927: Rachunkowe Abecadlo (1994)
มุมมอง 12514 วันที่ผ่านมา
A bizarre mesh of slot machine and tile-based math puzzle. Apparently endorsed by Saint Nicholas himself, Rachunkowe Abecadlo looks to be a Polish number puzzle game with a series of modifiers. Lawnie can't really make head nor tail of it, and spends this heavily-edited playthrough confused and confounded.
Random DOS Game Show #926: Mind-Roll (1988)
มุมมอง 20014 วันที่ผ่านมา
Eyeball madness! A top-down puzzler from Epyx where you play as an eyeball through some bizarre realms, attempting to solve things before a timer runs out. Lawnie is notoriously poor at puzzle games, but even he escapes the first realm and sees the merits of this decent slice of noggin-scratching fun. One for fans of Marble Madness and the like, but probably better on other systems.
Random DOS Game Show #925: Terminator 2: Judgment Day - Chess Wars (1993)
มุมมอง 38914 วันที่ผ่านมา
What if you palette-swapped the pieces of the CD-ROM enhanced release of Battle Chess and then had all the combat animations replaced with cutscenes? Chess Wars is here to answer that question, with its Terminator-licence proudly on display! Take on the apocalyptic robot future in a manner never seen before, with chess! Despite a creepy soundtrack, Lawnie is bored to tears with this, and distin...
Random DOS Game Show #924: The King of Chicago (1988)
มุมมอง 22514 วันที่ผ่านมา
A CGA story-rich gangster game/visual novel with mini-games where choices matter! With a strategic overlay! Originally released for the Macintosh in 1986! The King of Chicago might not look or sound like much, but Cinemaware surprise Lawnie yet again with another fantastic slice of storytelling. You are Pinky, the would-be boss of a crime outfit in the 1930s Chicago gangster realm post-Capone. ...
Random DOS Game Show #923: Yogi Bear's Math Adventures (1990)
มุมมอง 13621 วันที่ผ่านมา
Hey Boo-Boo! It looks like we have a cheap authorised math game in this picnic basket! Lawnie throws some things at numbers in this uninspired game destined to languish in obscurity on dusty school computers. Then gets shouted at by park ranger Smith. Avoid.
Random DOS Game Show #922: Tommy's Turkeys (1986)
มุมมอง 15121 วันที่ผ่านมา
It's a turkey shoot! Tommy graces us with what is essentially a bad ASCII version of Space Invaders but with a reloading gun and terrible PC speaker sound effects! Lawnie eventually cracks the secret of beating the game, but not before a lot of pain.
Random DOS Game Show #921: Princess Maker 2 (1993)
มุมมอง 30221 วันที่ผ่านมา
A management simulation/life simulation meets RPG that casts you in the role of a ward of a princess! With its distinctly anime/manga style cartoonish graphics, paper-thin translated plot line and focus on a 10-year-old girl, this shouldn't be of any interest to Lawnie... and yet... Princess Maker 2 is a magical combination of genres to make a distinctive whole! Enchanting stuff, and well worth...

I found myself playing along and ended up getting a few more of them right! Sgt. Snorkel is from the American newspaper comic Beetle Bailey, and he does indeed have a bulldog named Otto. I also got the anatomy questions right on account of recalling lyrics from old School House Rock songs ("Left and right ventricle, left and right atrium, yeah they do it, they circulate!") and having an excellent high school Biology teacher. I was utterly lost on the sports and old TV shows/movies questions, though. It's definitely dated and Americocentric, but I could see this appealing to people who either remember and/or have a particular affinity for the 1950s-1970s.

Hello my baby, hello my honey, hello my ragtime gaaa-aallll.... That's where you've heard it. (Probably Looney Tunes, Spaceballs, or both.) And yes, James Garner is also famous for the western comedy "Maverick." Anyhoo, I actually remember this one. Had it on a "shareware" disc as a kid. Nothing special, but the slot machcine wheel was kind of a unique gimmick.

I'm one to like the colour pallete. I had this one when I was little but could not advance a lot. Then I got the cheats and... well just played randomly (that's my story with almost every game from that time) But then I got it on xbox and finished it, this is maybe my favourite FPS. I also finished doom on xbox and liked it a look, not the same with my fav as a kid, dukenukem 3d.... I did not finish that one.

Seventeen years is admittedly a pretty good run by modern hardware standards. The first mic I bought for my channel only lasted eight months.💀 They just don't make 'em like they used to.

The age of this would indicate that it'd work on the 808x mini laptops, but I'd wonder if it's speed-sensitive or not! Definitely an interesting and ancient (by PC standards) game/novelty!

Does remind me of defender with the graphics of Air Fortress. Overall don't look like to bad of a game and a good way to kill time. Definitely worse games out there and at least would be easy to speedrun just keep pressing backspace.

You could have used the bomb you had to remove those 2 ghosts! But yeah, there are definitely lots of Pacman clones out there, including Paku-Paku and CD-Man, which I played back in the day!

Talk about timing, I just played a few rounds of the DOS port for Ms. Pac-Man! It's quite good for its age, one that I look forward to seeing on the series eventually. This one looks like a competent Pac-Man clone as well. The maze variety and new powerups are nice additions to the formula.

The audio quality leaves a little to be desired and thankfully it allows an option to turn it off. I imagine otherwise after a while it would even drive the parents nearby insane and with headphones would probably damage hearing after a while or be tough to understand if the volume was turned down. Still neat little novelty edutainment game.

Long and drawn out indeed. Definitely needed more action would be a great game to play if you needed to sleep though as it definitely is not very exciting.

Now that the games are re-released on Steam with EA app integration, I think OpenRA and the like should go from fan remakes to fan enhanced source ports and ways to play these games without DRM and additional clients. Even if we were to download repacks of the games just to run them without EA's BS.

I had a demo of this one, but I'm not sure it was playable. Anyway, I finally realized it was Chuck Rock in one of the cars. It seems everyone was getting a kart game spin-off in the 90s.

This should work perfectly on the "808x mini laptops", given it's a text-based game, although it is rather silent; it's debatable as to if that is a positive or negative! It looks quite fun though! One of the very few modern games that you could play on an ancient CPU.

This is a game that should run fine on a Book 8088, although I've currently no idea if it's a speed-sensitive game! I'd give it a go on a Pocket 8086 too, but it will be similar performance to the Book 8088, at least if a 10MHz 8088 or 8086 was installed!
