Drug checking around Australia: Snapshot of services, recent findings & insights for festival season
In an evolving illicit drug risk environment, drug checking is increasingly recognised as a vital harm reduction tool for surveillance and informed decision-making. As we enter another Australian festival season, the risks posed by high-potency substances and novel synthetic substances, such as nitazenes and cathinones, raise particular concerns.
NDRI's November webinar, 'Drug checking around Australia: A snapshot of services, recent findings, and insights for the festival season', we'll bring together a variety of experts from drug checking services across the country to explore the current landscape of drug checking and alert systems in Australia. Featuring four short presentations, we’ll cover how these services operate, their role in national surveillance and alert networks, trends in the illicit drug market, and key insights for the summer festival season.

Make Liquor a Pharmacy item available for sale from 10 AM to 6 PM. Limit sales to bottles 500 ml or larger. End Service sales at 9 or 10 PM and close Taverns at 10 or 11 pm. Increase the taxes. Lower the Blood Alcohol Content for Driving Under the Influence and increase the penalties. Amend Dram Shop laws to provide compensation for victims and their families of over service rather than protecting irresponsible alcohol retailers. Ban alcohol advertising and marketing. Ban alcohol industry political donations. Sober Adults deserve discounts on insurance premiums. Automobile, Renter's, Homeowners and Healthcare. In Illinois kitchen grease fires are the number one cause of Residential Property Casualty Claims. People drinking alcohol in one room, try to fry a hamburger at halftime and fall asleep in a comfortable chair. Good video. Keep up with the Research and activism. Wine is not the Sacrament but Fool's Juice promoted by Perverts. Alcohol User Fees have not kept pace with either inflation nor Income Wage increases. Alcohol is much more affordable than 1950. Ten hours of minimum wage per gallon of Liquor, then back off the User Fees for lower alcohol content fortified Wine, Wine, Cider and Beer.

All your suggestions will just lead to home brewing and bootleg liquor as history shows. You don’t talk about other drugs either like Meth. This preachy method has been shown to fail in the past and the causes have to be removed and comes with allowing people to control and determine what is good for their own communities. That has never happened.

This thinking, to which I was introduced in 2018, has been nothing short of transformational for me; I regret that it still struggles to be heard in the din of Evidence Based Policy but we must carry on trying!
