The poor Sherpa carry so much on their backs. Unreal. If you want to do this, at least carry your own survival gear. Funny cuz you’ll hear of people wanting to do this with no oxygen etc but I’d be more impressed if I heard someone wanted to do this with carrying all their own gear and necessities.

Why on earth would they ever allow that many people up by the summit? Nepal has to give permits. They should never allow that many people. It’s just unsafe. I mean everything about this is unsafe and quite honestly just a bad idea all the way around. These people are literally Climbing over other peoples lifeless bodies just to say, hey I submitted on Mount Everest

I used to dream about climbing big mountains like k2. K2 always looked like the ultimate and also one of the hardest. I can't imagine what it would feel like to be standing under that serac. Kind of crazy and sad to hear how many people climb those mountains now. I know Everest is getting trashed and I fear that's the case for the rest of them too. I doubt I could ever afford it but not sure I would want to climb it and contribute to that...

“One of the first climbers to make it to the top of Everest”????? No, he **WAS** the first, with his partner Tenzing Norgay. They employed a very complicated code so that the only journalist closest to the support team and alternate climbers (Tenzing and Hillary were not the first choice for climbers to make a summit bid that trip!) at base camp, and knew what the outcome of the climb was…Jan had a runner to take the coded message from EBC, a distance of 25.6km/15.9 miles, perhaps a bit longer based on the path or route the runner had to take in 1953 to Namche Bazaar, the closest town with a wireless, so the glad tidings could be shared in The Times the next day, which, fortuitously was the coronation of Elizabeth II. This outcome and triumph of a man who was part of the commonwealth, as a New Zealander was deemed fitting and a positive sign or a very positive portent suggesting the reign of Elizabeth II would be long and successful (and we now know how well the late Queen did in her role and how she devoted her life to the crown). This was the last time for an important event that anyone has had to use a runner. With the advent of the wireless and then the telephone, fax, etc., they were obsolete, even by 1953, but Everest is a different beast and given its remote location and only one climbing team a year allowed to attempt a summit in those years between the 1920s and 1950s, there was not a settlement closer to send the message on from! The message from Jan Morris of _”The Times”_ , read as follows: *_”Snow conditions bad stop advanced base abandoned yesterday stop awaiting improvement"._* *”Snow conditions bad"* was the agreed code to signify that the summit had been reached; *"advance base abandoned"* referred to Hillary and *"awaiting improvement"* referred to Tenzing. Over the years, and especially immediately after their summit, there was much made of who stepped on the summit first. Tenzing was humble, Hillary stoic and insisted that the journalists were focusing on the wrong part of their achievement, and he was overwhelmed. He was a simple honey farmer from a quiet town in New Zealand. His height was towering like Everest, and he used his influence for good; post Everest he raised both awareness and money to build schools and other basic infrastructure for the Nepalese, especially those isolated by the foothills of the Himalayas in the same small villages in which they had been born, trying to eke out a living growing potatoes and other hardy crops to sell and feed their livestock, as well as feed their families and many would end up as porters, ferrying goods up and down the steep narrow paths, carrying many times the weight they should have been or was “limited”. Hillary has changed the lives and life trajectories for many Nepalese children. I had the absolute honour to meet a similarly aged woman to myself who hailed from a village just south of Namche Bazaar. She had benefited from one of the schools that Hillary helped to build and fund and was living and working in London! To this day, since Hillary’s death, his son is on the board and the charity is still active and aims to help the families of Sherpas who risk their lives to cart our gear up the mountain every year, as permit records hit new highs and the need for these Sherpas is at an all time high. I could go on, but the only way that Hillary could possibly be only “one of the first” is if that was poorly worded, OR, the narrator/creator of this video believes in the possibility that Mallory and Irvine made it to the top in 1924, and with the discovery of Irvine’s **BOOT** with his foot inside, there’s been quite a bit of discussion and speculation. We’ll never know!

It's sadly no individual case . Everest has several of corpses you need to walk by too because it's too dangerous to recover them and nearly impossible to get any help without risking your own life. The bottleneck of K2 is called the death zone, and everyone climbing such mountains need to be aware of the risk. It seems like the man in this video was beyond help, and you sadly have no other choice than to go forward if you don't want to die yourself..

There are two main unconquered routes on Mount Everest. Those routes are the direct route up the East Face and the Fantasy Ridge, also known as the East Ridge: East Face A direct climb up this avalanche-prone face is considered extremely dangerous. Fantasy Ridge This route involves climbing a narrow ridge with double cornices, through the Pinnacles, and to the Northeast Ridge. It's considered one of the finest lines on any 8,000 meter peak but it's also very dangerous and high. Other challenging routes on Everest include: Southwest Face. A direct climb up this face is considered extremely difficult. North pillar on the East Face. This route is considered extremely difficult. Northeast Ridge. This route was once considered unconquerable. Do not think that there are no challenges left there. The tourists take the path of least resistance but that will never tame the mountain. The mountain will never be tamed. Look up the Stollenloch on the Eiger. The Eigerwand climb is “only” 4,500 meters. Go try to climb that wall when the weather goes bad and tell me how there’s no challenge left. “Anyone who returns from the Eigerwand cannot but realize that he has done something more than a virtuoso climb: he has lived through a human experience to which he had committed not only all his skill, intelligence and strength… but his very existence.” -Lionel Terray Or, you can just take the electric train inside the mountain to the top of the Eiger. People have been doing that longer than they have been successfully climbing the Eigerwand.
