7 years ago today, I uploaded my first ever MMD, and little did I know what it would lead to.
(The rest of this probably won't make much sense to you if you subscribed for Dream SMP MMDs as it's referencing my first channel (under the same name) and my MMD journey WAYYYYY before the Dream SMP existed)
I actually can't believe that much time has passed. SEVEN YEARS???? HOW?? It feels like only yesterday I was creating MMD after MMD, refreshing comments to see if people enjoyed it, streaming random things and having random conversations with you guys in chat and all of the shenanigans and inside jokes with my MMD friends.
Despite the fact I don't make MMDs anymore (let's ignore the fact I had to look up a tutorial for raycast for this video), and how the channel ended up dying in 2018, I am forever grateful what uploading that first ever video led to. From creating a community, making friends and creating videos people enjoyed, that time of my life is forever engrained in my heart, and I truly miss it.
Will I return to making videos? I don't know. It feels like MMD has gotten quite dry over the years. There aren't as many new motions for download anymore and I'm not part of a fandom that I'd want to make videos for. Really the only characters I want to make videos with don't have any models and I've never been able to navigate making models, and I'm definitely not starting now XD. But I won't lie, making this video was fun, and I haven't felt excited about making an MMD video in a long time. So I guess I can't rule it out.
(and I like how after all this time, I still run into problems. Like, why is there a random frame drop around 1:07??)
If you're still reading, whether you were part of the community or a friend I made on my journey, I hope you're all doing well! A long time has passed since we were making and/or watching these silly little dances and memes of our favourite characters. And I'm sure we all wish to go back to simpler times.
Will I return to making content? Maybe? But I cannot be certain. There is still a part of me that wants to create gaming content (which was the same back in 2017), but whether I do or not all depends on if I take that leap (it's a scary place out here). I do have a lot of 'creatives' I wish to show the world, but I haven't quite found the right medium to pursue them to justice.
Regardless, whatever happens, a part of me is still here. And if any of you out there still know me and wonder about me, I'll always be here. Whether that's me finally making that 'recreating my old MMDs' video I promised 2 years ago, or uploading to update that I have a new project that I've finally pursued, this silly little channel will always be the beginning point. And it hopefully won't be leaving again.
