I'm delighted to have just discovered you. I used to know a load of Kilkenny guys in Tooting in the eighties. I remember one of the guy's partner telling me this story late one night around a campfire at Glastonbury.

The more things change, the more they fundamentally, stay the same.

Apparently Heavy Carts and Horses found it difficult to cross yet it was Built at a time with only that type Transport available. Strange I would have thought.

I work on the railway myself, everywhere I see the scars of a railway which was far more than it is now. At Macmine there's still a buffers buried there and you can just about make out where the island platform was. I'm lucky enough to know a driver who drove the Macmine to Waterford line, said it was one of the most scenic lines.

No mention of the earlier occupants' of the site - Fitzpatricks etc? Also, prior to the bridge and weir being built, the crossing point of the river Nore was in line with the old entrance gates on the side facing the park area.
