Thanks a lot, that was a treat! Good idea to take it easy on the BW 4 speed. I trashed a few of them back in the 60s. The car is a winner my friend.

I understand not wanting to push it but it sounds like that thing was just coming on when you shifted gears. I think it probably had another thousand RPMs left in the motor to pull harder

Was that the stock cam for the 421 SD?

I had a 64 Pontiac Catalina convertible with a 389 V4 carb. Back in 1968. It had a killer 1st gear 2 gear it was a dog. I had pie crust slicks on it with cherry bomb exhaust it was a blast going up and down brookside where all the kids showed up on the weekend. Did a burn out on the street. Kids loved it BUT the cops didn't. Went to jail for 3 day's! Dad took my Pontiac away. Bought me a 660 Rambler 4 door show off day's were over.

These cars were something in their day unlike the cars of today they had style, personality and beauty along with strength and for land yachts they were quick, love the old Catalina.

Sometimes ya never know … challenged by a loud braggart in 1973 with a Dodge Swinger w/ a 340 against my ‘68 Chevy C-20 with a BOCES rebuilt 307 , I actually beat him for drinks at the local bar … he never lived it down that he never checked for a sleeper engine in my “ farm truck “ !!!

Who could hate. I saw reaction time at start very close and dang that opposing race car really moved out considering this 62 cat was like a hellcat is today - very cool/fun vid Q- did it have the rare option of factory aluminum front end ? In 63 I heard it was stopped. Nice car 😁

My dad was a product engineer at Pontiac. I was 13 when this car was made and loved Pontiacs. I had a '64 GTO, 4-spd, tripower when I was in college. Those '62 Catalinas with a 421 were so cool. Thanks for this video.

Always loved the early 60s Cats- big and beautiful. That one is delicious. Hats off to the owner- that beast sounds absolutely wonderful. Great to see it raced.

One of my favorite Pontiacs ever. My first car was a 1960 Pontiac but 62s were the best.

There is no need for negativity. People should just enjoy seeing it run. If they knew how slow the average car was back then, maybe they would appreciate this car a little more.

That car breathes and has a heart beat. Not found in EVs even if faster, it's just not the same. I've had a couple solid lifter 4 spd vette and 396 Chevelle SS 4 sp. I never tired of going through the gears except in city driving and enjoying the transmission whine and high revs, side pipes-never! it makes you feel alive. 0-80 or 90 was enough, none of that silly treacherous high speed stuff. This was back when I was young and so were the cars.

Watchin the Hoosier logo go around and listening to the 8 cylinder symphony was great. Looked like pretty good runs too me. The other two cars was definitely a different caliber car. It was a fun run.

The guy never even got into 4th gear. Was this an 1/8th mile track or does this guy have a 2:78 rear?
