Thank you for the great comment Travis!, you’re absolutely right!, all the components you mentioned are in fact possible causes for a hot start issue however, they all checked out to be ok and this particular motor had low compression. The owner wanted to just swap the engine to sell the car, we picked up a compression tested engine and was able to get the job done quickly. Also the RX8 Renesis engine is great and the main cause of failure seems to always be due to carbon build up from recirculating dirty engine oil as chamber lubricant when Mazda should have used a separate reservoir of clean oil for injection in my opinion.

The pressure plate and fly wheel showed discoloration, The owner only wanted to replace the clutch and pressure plate.

@@joemismaldonadoRx7 Thanks, I just bought an 06 tC with 260k miles and I have no idea when the last time the clutch was changed, overall it's in great shape, doesn't burn oil, i hope to get 400k miles out of it. I have never met a tC owner who does not love their tC and so far it's been really good.

Do you remember what color the plug was? The first I see at 4 min is the green alternator connector. The starter has two wires that plug into it: - larger wire is battery power to the starter - smaller wire is the starters remote from the ignition. The last wire is see is what looks like the knock sensor on the engine block by the starter.

Yes, there are many different style bulbs between different cars and trucks especially old vs new. Most auto part stores should be able to help you get the right bulb for your vehicle when you give them your cars vin number or year make and model info.

@@superman3299 don’t remember the exact miles on this car however, clutch life on most vehicles can range from 60k to 100k miles depending on the drivers style and experience of driving manual cars.

Hey that sounds good maybe it’s under warranty, the owner of this car at the time said the dealer wasn’t going to pay for it so we fixed it ourselves. Hope all works out.

Great question, so the exhaust noise reduction servo was seized when I got the bike and was restricting the power, instead of taking the bike back to the dealer I just removed the servo because I learned this was very common and an easy fix was to just remove the servo and linkage and unplug the servo from the engine harness because the butterfly valve in the exhaust after the catalytic converter stays open when disconnected, since the bikes computer doesn’t see the servo plugged in it throws a code and the light comes on kinda like a cel. there is a small part you can buy that plugs into the bikes engine harness and makes the fi light go away it’s called a “servo buddy” I just never got around to buying it, bike runs fine and the light never bothered me, I intend to buy it when I get some new led head lights. Plus the servo is like 1 lbs so weight savings just equals more speed lol

Generally you want to change the oil every 3.000 miles or 3 months which ever comes first however, with some better brand filters and synthetic oils some claim you can increase the intervals but that would be at your discretion, I would stick to the 3,000 miles

Why is it that Honda recommends an oil change every 10-15k? The same is true for Toyota as well. People who have had Hondas and/or Toyotas for years and years and have maintained them (well over 250k mikes with the engine still in great shape) usually recommend an oil change every 3k-5k …why the discrepancy? Thanks in advance

@@ya9412 I cannot speak for the engineers at Honda, Toyota or any of the car manufacturers however my guess it is a type of marketing to get people to buy new cars and get service exclusively through the dealer. I have ran vehicles to 5k and even 10k miles between oil changes and nothing really changed, I’ve used synthetic and conventional oils and honestly never had issues, I believe the new cars may be coming with more advanced alloys inside their engines and transmissions which may call for specific fluids only the longer the interval the more contaminants can accumulate so I always felt better just doing it between 3k-5k, essentially you save money with the longer intervals but I would say you may be increasing the risk of premature wear because the filter ends up bypassing fluid once it becomes filled so you could be hurting the internals, hopefully this makes sense 🫡
