hi where did you get your bearings from? I need the exact same ones
We got the bearings from a shop called brake and transmission in Auckland👍
Really appreciate all your videos. Ive learnt alot from you already, thank you. I am Currently rebuilding my own caravan all timber battons inside. Ive never taken on a task like this so having your commentry is perfect as you can hear the experience through your voice yet simplified information for your viewers. Cheers fellas
Thanks for your awesome comments. I don't know a lot about wooden framed caravans but if I can be of any help just reach out. When you take on big projects like mine and your one it can be really daunting, but trust me, the feeling of satisfaction you get at the end makes it all worth while. Take your time, enjoy the restoration, thanks for your support.
Welcome back. I'm looking forward to the Orange Roughy series.
is there a follow up video you have of the ply going back in? cheers
@@jodystone2116 coming in the next couple weeks 👍
Who made the new panels for the van?
Cool clip, what year was this one and do you know what years the 5 Stars were manufactured until?
@@Boony682 This one is a 1976, 5 stars were made until 1977 and after that the Panorama was introduced, thanks for watching
Do you have to be certified to weld caravan drawbar?
Is this the same caravan as posted on TradeMe?
Yes it is
What about drain holes on the bottom of every member?
I did put drain holes on each cross member, sorry if I didn’t show it properly
New sub! Good build mate enjoyed the mini binge on watching your content keep it rolling.
Looking good cuz
Amazing! Well done. We bought a Panorama lightweight 1979 a few weeks ago. In the latest downpour the front window leaked big time. It looks to me like the seal that the window is seated in is leaking and rainwater is coming in. The previous owner came out to see it this morning and he is convinced that this is normal and the little weep holes were blocked and that is why the water spilled over to run down the wall and onto the seat. I can't see that the system that these caravans were built on was rainwater comes in and the weep holes will take care of it by draining the incoming water. Is this right? To me I have a caravan that leaks. I'd value your opinion. Thanks
Well done!
Nice work cuz
Thanks!
looking good
Thanks and glad you're back. Your still photos with voice-over is really good.
Thanks for that
Just having a long off season
Thought you might have given up on the TH-cam
We’re will you get new window seal rubbers from I am havn trouble getting them in the South Island
If you were doing another one of these, could the joint below the windows be changed to a riveted lap joint with sealant?
You probably could do that, I have always tried to keep everything as original as possible even down to tiny details which is why I agonised so much over just putting screws in when they weren’t there originally. I can’t see myself doing another Panorama anytime soon, thanks for watching
Awesome. Thanks guys. Interesting!
Thanks for the video. I've watched them all and really enjoying them.
Looking good as new. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome series of videos mate. I just brought the same caravan, these videos are so helpful! Thanks very much.
We are glad that they helped stay tuned about to get into it again, soon we will be replacing outside panels
Sounds good. Where did you get the jockey wheel internal mechanism?
Sorry for the delay in coming back to you, Western Bay Caravans in KatiKati, he has a lot of original stuff
@@restorationcrew4615 no problem, thanks very much.
Nice work, as always. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for that, sorry it has been so long between videos
Thanks for the update.
What do you paint the underfloor with? Looks very tidy
I just use a silver base coat mixed with thinners, you can get it from any automotive paint supplier, it probably works out more economical than rattle cans
Por15 chassis paint also came up great with nice self leveling gloss finnish
I never thought of that may be better for pitted areas
I just got new axle and hubs with 4x108 hubs from WR Twiggs in petone. they might be able to help you out. and new widened steel wheels from palmside in Christchurch. (same as Ford lotus)
Get a new 5 stud hub, weld one hole, mark up on lath and re drill as 4 studd?
Thanks Chris, it ended up that Trojan had an exact replacement, it is back on its wheels and I now making a video on priming and sealing the roof on the panorama
The axles must be 16 CWT (hundredweight) A British hundredweight is 50.8 kg, so 16 x 50.8 = 812 kg per side, which sounds correct.
That sounds better thanks for that
Great video dad
What's the thickness and grade of your aluminium sheets? Thanks.
I use .9 , it’s more expensive but easier to work with
@@restorationcrew4615 Thanks!
@@restorationcrew4615 A lot cheaper at Wakefield Metals in Onehunga.
I like this van. Thanks for the video. The young cameraman did an excellent job.
Nice work. Thanks for the video.
This is a terrible design for repairing. I'm not surprised you're reverting to the older model for you next project.
Your not wrong, everything about it is difficult the 1300 will be easy by comparison
Thanks for the video. I can remember when these caravans were new. Its amazing that so many of them have survived.
Excellent work.
The wall framing is in amazingly good condition.
I have been amazed how tidy it is, liteweight had obviously improved their rust proofing by this model as the previous ones were always a bit rusty when you removed the panels
Excellent videos. Thanks.
Cheers mate
Slow down on your videoing it’s really hard to watch get Dad to talk he is much clearer - can’t understand the kid
This is the first vid dad starts talking in the next videos
Can you tell me what type of compressor do you use to spray paint? Youve done an excellent job. Im currently working on our caravan. Thankyou for the videos.
I can’t remember the name of it but I know it is very big and very old around 1960’s or 70’s but is has around 35cfm. It delivers nice consistent airflow.
