Bass Tracker Classic XL Lower Laguna Madre
Follow up video of a Bass Tracker Classic XL in the Lower Laguna Madre, Texas. I use my Bass Tracker almost exclusively in saltwater flats to fish for redfish and trout. Mostly going in about 1' to 3' of water. I ventured out into the main ship channel a couple of times where its about 25' 5o 40' with no issues.

This somewhat pulls away from my "how to videos" and is more of a review of the new 2020 Bass Tracker Classic XL from Bass Pro Shops. Also review the usage of this boat (what areas, depths, fishing). Discuss some my reasons as to why I got this boat to fish in a saltwater area, versus your standard flat bottom fiberglass. For more details on this exact model visit:www.basstrackerclassic.com/

Sunshade Sail Install
มุมมอง 1.6K5 ปีที่แล้ว
In this episode, I'll be going over how I installed my 13x20 sail sunshade in my courtyard area. Although it may seem like a pretty straight forward process, it certainly can provide its challenges. Sometimes we just might need a coupe of ideas that can help us have a sturdier, smoother looking sail, without breaking the bank or our backs. This does not only add a touch of design to any home, i...

Ever have any issues with the trolling motor in salt water?
Nice boat, I just don't like the way they handle in rough water.
Bounces a lot if you try to go too fast and won’t stay dry for long lol. I always have to raise the bow and cruise it in.
@@thejackofalltrades5171 Its not only that. It all depends on what you are using the boat for and where at. I'm mainly on big lakes and rivers where the waves can get pretty big and spacious. I just prefer a wider deeper boat like a sea ark or a Lowe. The tracker isn't a bad boat I have a couple of friends that has the pro/xl and got them for a nice price but they even admit they get shaky in rough times compared to my predator and others. Besides that the tracker is a smooth looking fishing machine.
@@zizwehunt1872 yeah i completely agree. I mainly use it in our bay where i am running pretty shallow most of the time. 1-4 waters. When I attempted to go down farther into the jetties where it’s 30-40 feet, exactly what you described. Higher waves, more spaced out and ohhh boy. Didn’t feel so safe lol.
I have a 37 year old Alumacraft that has rivets and doesn’t leak a drop,
Oh that’s awesome! You take it out in salt water too? That’s some good first hand knowledge. We all know the sales reps can tell you one thing, or reading many forums online, but ownership is completely different.
Can you do a video on your power pole? I need one of those.
Aluminum doesn't rust, but it can corrode. Add some zinc anodes to the boat to combat any possibility of corrosion through electrolysis. This will ensure years and years of corrosion free aluminum.
Nice set up.
How do you put the overflow together and do you just use two bulkheads
Crystal clear? :l
Any updates? Do you still have the boat?
Just got this one.. its now 821
Damn that price jumped big time
@@jessepalma8871, I returned when I found a bigger one at Walmart for 599
Dang how much would you charge me for a fishing trip.?? Cus i really want to buy myself a boat like this for southbay!!
Nice setup, well done!
How does this boat fish three people? Looking to buy one but my wife and son fish with me on occasion.
Sand filter
I would really appreciate if you could tell me if it rusted because of the saltwater?
how does the boat handle choppy water?
the saying is what have you lol great video sir
Good video hope you enjoy the boat still waiting on mine hopefully be here soon
Have you received your boat yet? How long did it take?
It took 16 weeks
Hey bro I have the same boat....what hydrofoil did you put on you motor and how do you like it? Did it improve the speed and handling of the boat? Also you don't have a jackplate on it do you, I didn't think I saw one...
Nice detailed video. I live in San Diego and wanted a small craft that does both fresh and salt water. I did not know this boat will take salt, so now I'm super excited about this boat. Was considering a Hobie Pro Angler 360 but I need to buy 2 so my son can roll with me, for the same price....Bass Tracker now in the lead. Thanks bro!!!
Thinking about pulling the trigger on a 2021 this week, after almost a year with it, any regrets?
I just bought 73 acres in Casper Wyoming. Lots of nice lakes around my land. This boat fits the bill and you'e walk thru was great! Thx!
Is this in salt water? If so, what is your routine of cleaning it afterwards and have you noticed any wear from the salt?
Apologies for the long delay. Been really caught up in work lately. But I am preparing a video on how I clean my boat, and how it looks after a year. Stay tuned!
Hey, thinking about getting a bass tracker classic XL but not many good lakes near me. Been trying to find if this boat would be safe and navigate well through some areas of the delaware river near me with some areas having a good bit of current. In your experience you think itd be alright?
Please tell me what Bimini top that is?
I got it on amazon. I went back to my order history but I didn’t find it 😕. It wasn’t more than $140
I really like the grille on your Taco. The red is cool. Did you do that yourself? Nice truck. Fish on
What have not
ha!
Great video bud!! I ordered one last week 👍👍👍 I have a two month wait till it gets here lol. But that’s ok 😁👌👏👏👏
Went to BassPro and saw this boat on sale. So it is a fresh water boat from my understanding. Does it do well in saltwater? Max ppl you had on it? And what is the max knots that you use the boat in? Sales person said it moves a lot in water. Does it?
Nicely done brother! I’m thinking of switching up from my Kayak to a tracker and this helped me out 😊👍👍👏
Is your trailer holding up well?
Thank you so much, I realty appropriate this video. Please do a follow up video with any problem you have had. Thank you
I am working on another video now. Hopefully I will have it up within a week or so.
How is the trailer holding up in the saltwater looking in to getting the grizzly tracker but can’t find information about the trailer
Looks really good. For the amount of times I have put it in the water, I can't see any immediate damage to it.
I looks like you installed a removable seat base plate. I'm considering doing the same thing to my BTC XL. How did you secure it to the deck, threaded screw inserts? Also, what size hole saw did you use? Anything I need to be wary of when I install it?
Hey Arron. I used a 1” hole if I remember correctly. One of those that looks like a cone with different diameters. I centered mine between the console and wall. I found out that I nicked a stringer although I don’t think it’s a big deal as it was barely on the side. You might want to move yours maybe a little closer to the console so all you get is the foam hollow area. I see stainless steel screws from Academy Sports for boats. I drilled a small hole first. It’s in there pretty solid. Hope it helps.
@@thejackofalltrades5171 Do you recall how thick the deck was before you hit the foam? I'm considering using threaded inserts and then securing the plate with bolts. I'm hoping to be able to avoid the stringers by using a stud finder.
It was probably about 1/4” metal and wood combined. The base I bought has 6 screws all together and it’s solid on there. The counter sink is a nice touch since it makes everything rather flat.
@@thejackofalltrades5171 Last question...Do you use the seat only when trolling, or do you use it when you are transiting using the main motor as well?
Lol no problem at all. Any question I can answer. The front seat I only use when trolling for the most part. I have gone full speed in it and my father in law said he felt pretty safe.
Thanks for all the great information on your boat especially the upgrades. I live north of you in the Alamo city so knowing your area I have a better understanding how you use your boat and why you chose this one. I’m looking into buying one but with it being the season for boating and fishing they are on back order. Not to mention the price for everything you get. Best wishes in the flats.
Thanks! Yeah I can imagine them being on back order. Hopefully you get one soon. I personally believe it’s a great boat.
Where did you get the Bimini top.
I got it on amazon for about $130. Does great and is a great addition for comfort.
@@thejackofalltrades5171 i had same question, could you share the Amazon link? Your selection fit perfectly, we are looking to buy one and it is the 1st improvement.
Where did you get the light for the front? I would love to get one for my classic xl!
Yes sir it is pretty good at night. Lot of light in about 100 degree direction. I got it at Harbor Freight for $45! Can’t beat that. Road shock I believe their brand is.
Awesome! Thanks man!
Where did you get the light for the front? I would love to get one for my classic xl!

Smokepole14 i was just looking for one the other day when i saw this video.
Ebay sells them
Is that boat and motor made for saltwater use?
Hey there. When I spoke to Mercury Marine, they don’t specifically make saltwater and freshwater engines. According to the rep, more power is typically needed for saltwater due to waves, strong currents, tides etc, so they market those specifically for the saltwater community but can be used interchangeably. As far as the boat, I had my doubts for sure. Being made of aluminum, I thought it would eat right through it. It’s an all welded boat, marine grade aluminum (think of the coast guard aluminum boats and buoys). It holds up just fine. Hopefully that helps.
Boat and the neighborhood and both beautiful. best of luck !! thanks for the video ya'all have scorpions out there?
We sure do! Nasty little critters lol
@@thejackofalltrades5171 Why is it that every nice place in the world that i like has them nasty ass critters?
@@gewglesux lol. Good thing about the ones here is that they are very small and I don't think they're poisonous.
@@thejackofalltrades5171 I heard the transparent ones are bad news too.
I noticed the speakers under your seats. I like that idea! What system did you go with?
Highly recommend that spot. Really sounds good. I ended up with a Dual marine radio set from Walmart. It cost me about $40. Can’t complain. Does what I want it to do, didn’t break the bank, and it’s still going strong. I know it’s water resistant and all that, but I still take mine off when I wash the boat. Simple plug in the back and pull.
Great video and very informative thanks. I like this boat might be bringing one home in the near future.
Go for it! My family and I have made so many great memories on it already. For us, it was definitely worth it.
Great video man. Looking at getting one myself (black) and this video pretty much sealed the deal for me. Is that a Hook 2 or 3 fish finder? Very nice cooler video as well.
It's a 2 4X. Now that i've had it for a while, ive come to realize i dont use it at all. I think if it had GPS, for sure it would be part of my trip planning but with me being in 4 feet of water most of the time, not a lot of use for it.
How does it hold up in salt water?
Solid so far. Honestly, i bought it with some skepticism seeing how aluminum boats had such a bad rep in saltwater, but I took a chance on it. I am certainly not regretting it or looking back!
How is it How is it holding up with salt water
No more Wink for me after their $4.99 Monthly Fee.
I hear you! I opted for a Smart Hub now. The wink went months with no support, no new additions and it looked like it was going under :(
How does it do in choppy water?
It feels better than the typical flat bottom boats used here BUT, being so light and these being strong ocean currents it does feel like it get's tossed a bit. I am guessing a lot also has to do with the v hull and how it might have a little more roll than a flat bottom.
Thanks for the info on the boat, I've been looking at this Tracker for awhile and have been on the fence. After i saw ur video, I'm convinced. Thanks for sharing. New subscriber!
Glad I could help. Have any other question don't hesitate. I will do my best!
How is the boat with side to side rolling once you’re up onto the fishing platforms. Does it roll a lot? Have you had two people on the platforms, if so how much is the side to side roll with one and two people standing up fishing?
It's not too bad actually. I am 140 and my father in law is about 150 and while we feel it tilt when we are both on the same side, nothing that gets uncomfortable. My cousin though, is about 230 and you definitely felt the tilt on that one. We just had to stay in the middle of the boat. If i am by myself, its really unnoticeable. I use mine strictly in saltwater and its a bit more comfortable in the waves than my friends flat bottom. Doesn't feel like it rocks as much with the waves. Hope it helps.
The Jack of All Trades sure does help. I’m about 220 my self. So that is good, my brother and i weight the same. So we would for sure have it moving. But it seems like over all it’s a good boat and will handle us both. Thanks for the reply. Happy fighting bud.
