Reef Knot gets new Velox Antifouling.
In this video, we’ve taken Reef Knot out of the water after 7-8 months to inspect the anti-fouling we applied earlier. While the Hempel Olympic product has performed in some areas, its ablative nature has made regular underwater scrubbing difficult, creating a black cloud that obstructs visibility after just a few wipes. To address this, we’re switching the anti-fouling on the keel, rudder, prop shaft, and prop to VELOX, a hard, non-ablative surface that allows for easier and more effective cleaning. We hope that VELOX will also perform better as an anti-fouling product. In this first part, we apply the VELOX and re-coat the rest of the hull with Hempel Olympic before putting Reef Knot back in the water. Stay tuned for part 2 in a few months, where we’ll check in to see how everything is holding up.

Honda 2.3 HP 'small' Outboard Engine Review.- Personaly Do not like the Centrifugal clutch☹️👎
มุมมอง 7Kปีที่แล้ว
Dive into the performance-packed world of the Honda 2.3 HP Outboard Engine with our comprehensive review! If this video helped you PLEASE LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE? MY RECOMMENDATION - "DON'T BUY IT" We've been using this outboard for a few days now and honestly I would rather return it! ☹️ why? because of the centrifugal clutch. I don't like it. you can't give the engine a few revs to warm it up. if ...
A honda is the best thing you can get, it will outlive the most of the other engines. Of course you wont notice a difference if you onlyy drive 3 hours a year
I’m going now!!
Also very low powered. Compared to other 2.5 HP outboards. Only good for short distances.
2018 😊
I've had mine since 2018 and luv it. I always fire it up at home first before launching. Carry 5 ltr. of extra fuel. Good for around 6 hrs at full speed. Maintenance is key as well. Cheers! 🚤🎣😊
Once again we see people with a nice boat/had some cash and not much of an idea on sailing!
too loud
Insightful! Thx you Pete
local honda outboard service would not work on bearing clutch. he said it was too labor intensive and not worth it. he told me too throw it out and but a new motor for about $1000. worked on it myself found out the bearing was rusted all i did was soak the bearing with jd blaster and now it works. free of charge.
well i love mine best small outbord ever, perfect 4 what i need - though i agree some of the bolts will rust but they dont stuck. If you need revers turn it 180 or you got too big a boat for the tiny engine. even have the same boat
I had one about 10 years ago it was a great little motor for a few years and then it wasn't. The tin tappet cover rusted out when I went to investigate two of nuts deep in the bottom cowl were to rusted to remove i threw it under the boat for later investigation it got stolen which solved the problem. Not all the nuts were non stainless so if you have one replace all suspect one's
That motor is far from being straight
Facinating. Thanks so much for this video. I'm now a subscriber.
For a start, your title is very misleading. I would not recommend, I have ran the same engine for 8 years and its a brilliant reliable wee outboard Yes it is a bit different to other outboards with the clutch system but you get use to it, but if you are going to put up misleading titles in your videos because it comes across as you dont Recommend the engine when really thats not the case, then you have lost a possible sub from me friend nobody likes click bait enjoy your weekend
Actually I don't recommend it. I think it's rubbish, it's cheap in price but also build quality. Mine has been back to supplier for over 2 weeks. Also the centrifugal clutch is a silly idea, it's difficult to use and more importantly dangerous. We will be reselling ours once we sort out why it takes 40 pulls to starts and stops.
You may have laid it on the wrong side that will bring oil and fuel to the top and choke the carb.🐊Cheers@@Reefknotsailing
Very noisy
I have that same engine. Two tips: start the engine with the throttle set just above idle. It will start in “neutral” that way. If you run at half throttle you will get 2 hours of run time but only lose about 20% speed
Agree 💯
I would suggest getting some moveable pan clamps to use on your gimballed cooker. Then you can safely leave your kettle until it boils.
Yes thankyou I've been trying to buy, next on the list!!!
Hi guys....very sedate casual video...thanks. Have you done a description of "Reef Knot ?" Love to know more. Cheers
We shall do we've just unpacked the boat and now we can see everything 😊 thanks for commenting 😁
Should say motoring not sailing.
A lot of the times we do. A lot we don't. Our goal is to sail as much as possible. On our return from Tassie across Bass Strait it took 40 hours and we motored for 4. Thanks for commenting 🙂
Bought one for the lake. Pushes a 12ft tinny only criticism not Honda quality it's made in China
We think the quality is rubbish, engine cover already shows significant damage and the other is the compression kickback is dangerous. And I can't stand the centrifugal clutch
Yes will be handled with kid gloves very gently and carefully LoL
We were there 1 January..Killicrankie. great spot.
The bitter end should be inside the loop, so that's not a bowline.
It's a bowline, may not be tied the normal way but bowline she is
Thanks you enjoyed this very much will follow your journey.
Thanks so much!
Yep, that’s mostly how I do it too. Occasionally I’ll use another method as required. Nice quick vid.😊
Yessss

Love it guys
