Great show guys!!!! You're memories take me back to my backyard growing up; hitting a styrofoam Union 76 ball so I wouldn't break woodshed windows or pitching countless hours at "The Wall" in front of the driveway after drawing a picture of home plate with chalk. These were my times alone to play the game that allowed me to do play-by-play as well as be each hitter in the lineup or the pitcher facing the major's best lineup each time I thru my full compliment of pitches. And these distant dreams are still active in my heart and mind today. I could never have imagined my sons would have picked up where I left off. How blessed the three of us are!
Thanks for your reply! You have some great stories from your childhood playing baseball as the Cardinals in the 70s. I agree that the memories remain rich even today!
The catcher/umpire story is not in my baseball knowledge loop. I think the catcher dropped a foul ball because he ran into the umpire, On the next pitch, Gedman got crossed up on the pitch, the pitch went past him & BOOM Mr. Umpire gets nailed BUT GOOD. My guess.
That's a very real possibility. Or he was yakking all up in the business.

Noted
I mean there are a lot of situations at our house that results in me being a murderer of fun but the one that comes to mind was recently. I walked into our kitchen/living room area and two of the boys are punting a football back and forth. One is standing right next to about 20 framed family pictures and other glass decorations. The look of confusion as to why that was a bad idea on both faces. In this same topic, what really stands out to me now that I have kids is how relaxed my parents were comparatively. My brother and I used to play lots of indoor sports in our living room to kitchen area. This included full court basketball from the front door all the way to the back sliding door (suction cup hoop on one side, and an over door hoop on the other). Think 90's level physicality. Then we would also play home run derby in the same space with a tube sock filled with other socks hitting plastic baseballs (kind of like McDonald's ball pit balls). Homer's to left center ended up in the kitchen and often knocked things off of shelves. Absolute chaos and I don't ever recall my parents telling us to stop. They are better people than me.
Thank you for sharing! Hilarious! We have a designated indoor space for sports for the kids yet they don't want that space, they want to play in the space with the breakable things! I can't believe you guys played that way in you house growing up. Unreal. Adam and I invented calmer versions of everything usually using baseball/basketball/football cards, GI Joes and stuffed animals. We were fortunate to have enough yard space and/or a lot next door to do the outdoor activities.
😊 As your Dad, 2 MoF come to mind... sewer line dug up in Grandma's backyard. You two took your green army men and hit the trench not knowing there was raw sewage still in there. Mom & I had to call a retreat and spoil your fun...and many green army men lost their lives in the trench that day. #2 You 2 & a friend wanted to sell baseball cards at the garage by the main highway. I said no. Didn't want you by the highway with your cards or cash you would need to make change. 😮
Those are great ones! The sewer line wasn't just Green army guys, those were G.I Joes! We lost many a GI Joe that day. RIP
Oh, that's right! There were G I Joe's in there. Even a bigger loss!!!
If a collection of crows is a "murder," is a collection of kids also a "murder?" That might make you the murderer of the murder's fun.
Romney. That's Next Level right there. It just keeps coming - I had to shut down ANOTHER activity this week to save my fence and my yard from becoming a mudhole. When will it end???
Happy birthday, fellas!
Thanks Tim! Heading to Chicago to celebrate!
I would say that I would most likely have been a Marty Berrett. Middle infielder but I didn't have the arm to play short at a higher level.
Nick! Yes, Marty Barrett is a great call - fits you well. Scrappy, fighter, might not be the best arm or hitter, but smart enough to make a big impact. Love it!
I've got a couple of boys that I would compare to John Kruk in the All Star Game against Randy Johnson!!! Hahahaha!
LOL! Where every at-abt is an uncomfortable one!
I marvel at the lives you both manage. AND thoughts you "aired" today are very natural from a dad's point of view. Adam, thanks for "It's not about me." Never crossed my mind way back when as a parent.... Upcoming discussion: How do you entertain multiple children @ multiple ages at a baseball game while still enjoying the game yourdelf?
That discussion topic is fantastic! Consider it on the agenda!
That fits for the brew crew
Brew Crew locking down the NL Central! Would love to see them make a run all the way to the series!
We really enjoyed this show tonite (except for the apparent internet glitches) Good info. We can sense where you are progressing to. Keep up the good work!
Glad you enjoyed! Hopefully the glitches will clear up!
Yankees fan and our song is I think im gonna kill myself buy waylon jennings
LOL! We're Mariners fans and boy, that sure seems fitting the way our offense is WASTING historically great starting pitching this year. Brutal.
I remember that! Got a lot of attention but not so many wins....
Yeah... apparently this year's White Sox team is doing a year-long throwback with their W/L record!
Have you ever seen someone slide on that baseline. You want to talk about scrapes
Reading about some of the old fields, there were some interesting fields! No doubt there were cuts and more from sliding on those fields.
The man of steal!!
Rickey was UNBELIEVABLE!

Orioles in the deck, or Orioles on the deck (hit by the Yankees)? 🤔
Walked it off today! They've been struggling a bit here recently! Swept by the Cubs at home
I opened one of those packs last Christmas and got Ken Griffey 1st try 😅
That is fantastic! We have an entire hobby box of 36 packs... still wishing on a Griffey!
I went 7 out of 10
Nicely Done! Thanks for watching!
Ben Sheets won 20 games 0 times
Sure enough! This is an odd one because we looked this up using the stathead resource and this is what it gave us! And I even looked it up on baseball reference because I didn't believe it and that's what it showed. I wonder if there was some bad data for a time? Anyway, thanks for brining this to our attention!

I got the same 3 Adam did and same 2 Aaron did. Well, golly!!!!

@@baseballbrewhaha watch at ANYTIME, thanks.
I used to watch in Angels in Wrigley Field in Los Angeles in 1961 and then at Chavez Ravine (it was never called Dodger Stadium when the Angels played home games there) and finally at Anaheim Stadium when the Big A scoreboard was in left field. Odd story: Gene Autry never intended to buy the Angels as an expansion team but went to the A.L. expansion meeting in 1960 just to sign a contract with the new owner to broadcast the Angel games on KMPC radio which he owned. After a few meetings the A.L. asked Autry if he wanted to buy the expansion team so he did. Another interesting fact: Alex Johnson beat out Carl Yastrzemski to win the 1970 A.L. batting crown by 1000th of a percentage point. It was something like Johnson: .3276 and Yaz: .3274.
Thanks for dropping this great info! I didn't know that about Autry or that the batting title was that close. Thanks for your comments - much appreciated!

Boom
The figure of 85,265 was for a doubleheader on September 9, 1928, when the Athletics entered Yankee Stadium with a ½-game lead in the pennant race. The Yankees won both games to move ahead by 1½ games, and ended the season 2½ ahead. Urban Shocker died of pneumonia and heart disease that day at the age of 37, two months after the Yankees released him. I remember surfing the radio dial on April 17, 1979 and coming across the Seattle station KIRO in the early stages of the Mariners' game at Oakland. I listened to the rest of the game, and all through the broadcast, Dave Niehaus and Ken Wilson kept remarking on how few people were at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, even by usual Oakland standards. The attendance was finally announced at 653, and it was said that the actual attendance may have been 200. Those of us listening on the radio and the few at the game witnessed an entertaining game, with the A's scoring a run with the bases loaded and 2 out in the bottom of the 9th to win 6-5. Losing pitcher Odell Jones went the distance despite allowing 13 hits.
Thanks for dropping the knowledge on us! 200 is just incredible for an MLB game. Thanks for sharing! Are you from the Seattle area? Did you grow up listening to Niehaus?
@@baseballbrewhaha I'm from Edmonton, but was living in Calgary then. We got the Mariners games on TV on one of the Spokane stations, and sometimes KIRO came in loud and clear at night. While on vacation with my parents in 1978, we went to three games in Oakland, and they had a few thousand at each.

I loved Barry bonds but when he didn't sign my baseball when I was just 9 years old at spring training against the Phillys in Miami before they had the marlins because I didn't have a pen and handed it back to me when there was pens everywhere people trying to get a autograph he could of use any of those and sign it after that I was depressed and hated Barry bonds after that
What a bummer of an experience! Adam had a similar experience albeit Chris Bosio and not Barry Bonds, but as a kid, it just crushes you and your opinion of the player.
Man memory's I had 7 of those cards the checklist cards I loved
The checklist cards were some of the best in the whole set! Love the Griffey and the Bo especially
Let's trade some cards....
Thanks for watching!
