Is there really a time difference between doing the boss or K level after world 6-8

how come i get extra bomb throws on the 2nd phase? after beating the red monkey to the right side, i jump on him and roll into the other one on the left just like in the video. Then that 3rd monkey doesn't drop down. instead they start throwing more bombs from the posts.
