2020 Department 56 Snow Village
Hi folks! Long time no see! Wanted to get some sort of video out this year because I have missed the past few. You may notice that the village is considerably smaller. Well, my wife and I moved into our own home in 2018 and we just don't have the space here that I used to have at my parents house to build something extravagant. We may try for something bigger next year but who knows what will happen for sure. Anyway, here it is, our 2020 mini village for your viewing pleasure. We hope that everyone is safe and healthy and that you all enjoy your holidays. Peace and love from the Kuzma family!

2017 Department 56 Christmas Village features the Original Snow Village lighted buildings and accessories. New for this year are the lighthouse, and little ocean section. The Budweiser building, clydesdales, and Griswolds tree lot is new as well. Also featured but not running are the MTH Long Island G5 and passenger cars. Hey Heidi, sorry I missed this..I'll have to do some searching because I can't seem to recall the exact name. They're definitely D56 trees though. If I find out the name, I'll let you know.

Hi there! Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate it.. Yes, the monk comes in a set with the nuns, and the piece is called "Oh Brother". I just did an eBay search and there are a few on there. Good luck with your findings!

Thank you so much! We really missed doing it and it didn't feel right to just to a couple houses but we couldn't not do that anymore. Maybe we'll try to expand a little more next year. It feels nice to be back also 😁 Merry Christmas! 🎄

Thank you! I believe it's just called the Ford dealership. It has since been retired by department 56 but I'm sure if you search eBay there will be a few for sale!

This is awesome! It must have taken you AGES to create this! It's worth it though, it's a labour of love. I especially love the scene from the National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation ('s*****r was full") and the neat-freak neighbours jogging in their shiny metallic running suits. @@Kuzma13 I meant every word of it... you could always improvise and do something smaller scale. It can still be just as magical. Sometimes less is more 😊 I'm sure that whatever you do will be absolutely amazing! Keep me posted and let me know how you get on, I love looking at these Christmas villages, they capture the big kid in me 🤩 The NLCV scene was absolutely the best for me, it cracked me up no end!!! Kudos again to you for that, it was a genius touch. I'm sure Chevy Chase would be proud! 😄🎀 PS: I'm thinking something with a big red bow and stripey blue pyjamas in your next one...... you get where I'm coming from? 🤔😉

Dan Kuzma I’m so excited to see what u have out this year. I have a jar that I’m saving up for my houses. My theme is Christmas in a big city. Or maybe Christmas in a small town. I don’t know yet. But thank you for the tips. Any tips on finding village things for cheap or Lower prices?
Chloe Kiser cool! That sounds great, Department 56 puts out the Christmas in the city line also so if you haven't checked that out already I would. Hmm any tips? Yes, if you have a Michaels near by I usually get all my trees, roads, snow, and little accessories from there because they're so cheap and you can usually get some good coupons lol. For village stuff I would try eBay because they're usually never gonna be full price, especially the old stuff. Probably Facebook market too but I haven't personally tried that. Let me know what you find 👍🏻

Hey Dan, could explain how you do the upper level? Is that like PVC piping holding it up, and is it mounted into the table? It looks like it has about three support posts. I’m trying to figure out how to replicate this right now to give myself more space on the main table. Yours is the best solution I’ve seen.
Jeff Gushman no piping at all, just wooden risers that are wrapped in Buffalo snow. Not mounted either, just placed on the table, easy peasy. I just put a layer of foam on top with a little lip in the front to give myself more room for a street and trees and whatnot

GinLopezz hey!! Ugh so I’m taking a year off because my fiancé and I just moved and our place is smaller so the whole thing won’t fit and the big reason is we have two young cats. They’re all over everything and I don’t think the village will survive. I’ll definitely do something next year, although it’s killing me to not put it up. I may do a very small display on our dining room server just so there’s something.

This is a great video, my wife and I were in awe of your collection and set up. What advice would you give a rookie who is just starting? Best strategies to take when purchasing and if there are any chain stores that sell pieces?
joey Walker thank you so much! Hmm, as far as purchasing goes, eBay all the way. That’s my best advice as far as getting started. You’ll rarely find any chain stores carrying department 56 anymore. Stores will have to sell at full retail to make anything off it. Ebay will have people who are trying to get rid of it in bulk or looking to make a quick few dollars. Most of my collection is from online. Craigslist is an alternative but can always be sketchy. Extra advice, enjoy it while it’s small haha it takes on a life if it’s own when you’re 80 buildings in. But there’s so many directions you can take it so have fun planning it! Happy villaging, enjoy the holidays 😊
